i never was a big fan of stryper.their different records never hooked me.for me it s a decent christian hard rock and more they have a ridiculous look.there is two or three weeks ago i ve seen a video,on melodicrock,of their new record.wow i was impress by a super song with big guitars.so i decide to order "no more hell to pay" in japan.the result is that record have his moments, sometimes really excellent (tracks1.2.3.5.8.10.11.12).these eight songs reminds me the sensational fith angel "time will tell".a top class hard rock with a fireworks of exceptional riff s and solo s guitar.michael sweet have an extraordinary voice.that s really amazing.what a voice!!!but we have bad moments, several fillers.track 4 "jesus jesus"boring for a no believer like me,track 6.7.9 too much modern agressive riffs (no melody),and track 13 "first love" the japan bonus track,a weak ballad.nevertheless i will keep this cd in my collection cause the good (very good) is superior to the bad. |

I have to say, this disc impressed the hell out of me. (pun intended). I have always been a pretty big fan of Stryper and Michael Sweet. This disc is an amalgam of all of their best music from the past. I hear moments of YABA, SUC and THWTD all over this music. I LOVE when bands of the 80's take their time and really deliver knock-out music. Treat did this a few years ago and this is right up there too. FANTASTIC effort. 95/100 |

The "Holy Bumblebees" are back with their best album in decades. No more spandex or mousse-abuse hair, but the songs are still pure, polished commercial metal. Less emphasis this time on pop-rock hooks (though they are still there, fret not) and more focus on tight, thundering heaviness. Way back on "Against the Law" Stryper promised they would rock the hell out of us and that's exactly what they do on this latest CD. A couple of hookless songs ("Marching Into Battle") and a weak ballad ("The One") drag the album down slightly from its otherwise lofty heights, but these are minor missteps easily overlooked with the assistance of the Skip button. Bottom line, if you're not paying attention to this album, you should be. |
