It's disappointing that Stryper made a CD release with only two new songs(Something,& For You) after over a decade of silence. These two new songs are average, but definitely not ear catching like several of their older songs from the Albums:To Hell With the Devil,In God We Trust,Against the Law,etc. If they would have produced an entire album with 10+ new songs, they would have had a better chance of catching the attention of the music fans worldwide. I think its time that they change their name. |

very good compilation, some of their hits like 'In God We Trust', 'Soldiers Under Command' or 'Reach Out'... but two new tracks are really crap, I hate this song, what a new modern shit!! |
From: melodic metal | Date: August 6, 2004 at 13:50 |
as far as old songs mostly this cd is right on. i love it and while i have absolutely no problem with them adopting a more modern sound(a necessary evil in america as i recently discovered with my band DIVINE JUSTICE)i think anyone who owns micheal sweet's solo cd "truth" will hear these songs for what they are OUTTAKES!!!!.having said that let me also say that as a true fan i understand that stryper has always been micheal's baby(look at the songwriting credits)and i have no right to judge him. |

i actually like the 2 new songs here, and id love to have a new stryper album from the guys. just wish "first love" was on this compilation. |

As a fan of Michael Sweet's solo stuff I thought I'd check this out on the basis that I'd never heard any of their music before. All I can say is that I'm glad I bought this instead of any individual albums, what a cliched bunch of tuneless tunes these are. "Always there for you" is reasonable in a sickly-sweet kinda way, but the rest is truly horrible and the lyrics are utterly embarassing. At least Petra and others made efforts to obtain some secular appeal. Utter bollocks. |

At one time, I had every single Stryper CD & poster ever sold in Texas. This was the best "best of..." album I have ever seen by ANY band. As for the 2 new songs, I felt it showed a maturing, evolutionary influence in their music. I also got their live album after I went to see them in concert. The best live concert I have ever been to. Stryper went back to their garage band days look onstage, and their sound is more mature sounding in quality than ever. |

The live album title is '7 Weeks: Live in America'. It's a great live album, specially if you never hear the guys play live. |

Nice collection of some of the band's finest songs, although where the heck is "Surrender"? This is only one of the greatest metal songs ever recorded. Ah well, I guess you can't get everthing you want. The two new songs are a nice addition although they both sound like they would fit better on Micheal Sweet's Truth CD than on a Stryper album. Still, the songs are catchy and show the band still has some life in 'em. |

Well, not a bad compilation. But what the fans are waiting for STRYPER to do is another cd! So, it's over a decade we had been waiting for something new from this band. Enough with compilations with only 2 new songs...time to record another full-length cd! I support STRYPER, I'll even get the DVD from the show they recorded here in Puerto Rico when it comes out! Yes, I was there and yes, I'll buy the DVD. But I think a new full album will do best. |

The new songs suck im my opinion. They are too modern sounding and a bit of a departure from what you would expect. Lady and all for one are the best tracks. Overall, a reasonable compilation however. |

This is a great collection. However, it is missing a key song to Stryper's success: "I Believe In You". Wasn't this song a successful single for the group? Oooohhhh, a thought just came to mind....perhaps it was intentionally left off this "Best Of" CD so that in order to obtain it, one must ALSO purchase the CD it was originally part of. I hope I'm wrong. If I am right, then how shameful, Stryper. I ask, why is "I Believe In You", one of your best selling singles, not on this Best Of? |

The cover of Shining Star, while ok, is not a better track than Two Bodies. But, apart from that error, and the fact that again it isn't chronological in order, this has a better tracklist than Can't Stop the Rock just because it doesn't have my personally hated song Together As One on it. Grade A. |
