I think this is Ozzy Osbourne's best 80s album , although Jake E. Lee may not be his greatest guitarist .

From: Dragonfly Date: December 16, 2001 at 17:11
I can't pick a favorite release from Ozzy. Each one has something special to offer. This was Jake's shinning star. Badlands was ok but he was nowhere near as great as he was with Ozzy.

From: RichieRocker Date: May 31, 2002 at 20:49
This is definatly one of my favorite Ozzy cds. It has so many rockin songs, and Jake E. Lee plays an awesome Guitar. I love every song on this album and I Personally wish he would make more music like this, This timeframe is where Ozzy rocked the most in my opinion, If he came out with another album that rocked like this one, I think he would give rock music a swift kick in the ass. Ozzy go back to the basics.

From: ThunderDan Date: June 28, 2002 at 21:51
As much as I like 'Blizzard', I think this CD is just as good. The only song I don't care for is 'Killer of Giants'. Every other song brings much bliss to my auditory senses! Definately an underrated Ozzy classic. Why can't he make music like this anymore?? I am branded by bewilderment.

From: RichieRocker Date: June 28, 2002 at 21:58
ThunderDan I concur with everything you just mentioned. But I am befuddled to why you dont like "Killer of Giants" I love that song. Its cool though, To each his own bro. Keep Rockin!!

From: Kim Date: July 19, 2002 at 15:31
On a scale of 1-10 I give this 6. Its a classic, but Ozzy have released so much better music after this one. Secret Loser rocks, but Thank God For The Bomb, Killer Of Giants.........and especially Shot In The Dark SuXXXXX

From: WidoMakr Date: July 19, 2002 at 16:22
Kim...you wouldnt know a good/great Ozzy song if he bit a bats head off and spit it out at you....a 6??? are you crazy? I assume you are a guy from your previous postings...the video ALONE should make u love the song..let alone that the tune/album totally rocks...(and dont write back that a video with hot babes means I have to like the tune). Their is NO filler on this album... my personal favorite Ozzy tune...Mr. Tinkertrain...Quote the WidoMakr....never more

From: RichieRocker Date: July 19, 2002 at 17:19
Kim im perplexed that you think these songs suck. This album has everything a rocker wants, attitude, ripping solos, great loud intense drumming, and so much more. Oh well you rock your way, I'll rock mine.

From: Kim Date: July 20, 2002 at 1:27
Well I think the reason why Im not that `crazy`about this release is that I think it was too clean, and made for radio. I like the `darker`side of Ozzy and I might give it another try. WidoMakr. Im a guy. The name Kim is only used got guys in Denmark. Ahhh the vidoe is another thing. The girls on that shot in the dark are gorgeous.

From: jason (FA - Q) Date: July 20, 2002 at 1:37
Hey KIM! You don't have to explane your self to Widomakr!! You like what you like and screw the rest! I dig Ozzy but I'm not going to tell you that you're an ass because you don't like this album. QUIT telling people that your sorry for shit you shouldn't be sorry for!!!!!

From: Reno Date: July 20, 2002 at 6:47
I loved Jake's guitar playing on this cd. Ozzy has had some of the best guitar players ever. Randy Rhoads, Bernie Torme, Brad Gillis, Jake E. Lee, and Zakk Wylde. The guy knows talent when he hears it. One thing I can't figure out about this cd is 2 songs. Thank God For The Bomb sounds pro-war and Killer of Giants is anti-war. They seem to clash a little. Secret loser was used in the movie The Wraith. Charlie Sheen is killed by a bunch of car outlaws and comes back in an extremely fast car.

From: Reno Date: July 20, 2002 at 6:57
.....continued: He comes back in an extremely fast car to avenge his death and to help his younger brother, who is being bothered by the same gang of outlaw car pirates. It's a B-Movie, but still fun to watch. It came out in 1986 or so.

From: jason (FA - Q) Date: July 20, 2002 at 12:10
RENO, what's the deal? Are you trying to turn this into a movie review website or someting?

From: Reno Date: July 20, 2002 at 13:38
Thinking about it. I'm not sure yet. I have to get back to work. I'll have a better retort later. Are you going to see Poison at the State Fair? I'm still thinking about it despite the Hollyweird cd. Def Leppard is playing The Quest on July 26th.

From: jason (FA - Q) Date: July 20, 2002 at 14:11
Must be rough to sit on your ass while at work. Poison at the State Fair? I live in Guam, we don't have a State Fair. The Quest is a bad place to see a band if it is an all age show because us people that are over 21 have to drink up stairs and you can't see shit.

From: Metal_Ed Date: October 7, 2002 at 22:36
What can I say...Ozzy just plain KICKS ASS!!!! Excellent Cd, definately my favorite!

From: 9 CHAMPIONS A 1 Date: November 13, 2002 at 4:02

From: Rocker76 Date: November 26, 2002 at 15:29
Despite the fact that Ozzy acts like he never recorded this album (he's too busy satisfying Sharon & MTV) this is one of Oz's best. Jake E. Lee is the man...that's who Ozzy needs to get back in his band. No offense to Zakk Wylde but Ozzy's music does not need to sound like Black Label Society. "Shot in the Dark" ROCKS!!

From: Metal_Ed Date: December 28, 2002 at 5:25
This is my all time favorite Ozzy Cd!!! Jake E. Lee rips shit up!!! If anyone who say's he does not... never picked up a guitar in their life!!! That's coming from a guitar player!! Enough said!!!!!!!!!

From: 80s metal freak Date: December 31, 2002 at 16:44
This is without a doubt my favorite ozzy album ever. The guitars are just huge on this album.I've never heard guitars rip and shred like they do on this one.personal fovorites are the title track, never know why, secret loser, lightning strikes, and shot in the dark. But every song on here rocks. This album had a sound all its own,and its a shame it has never been captured again. that would be awsome to here another Ozzy album like this.Never the less, this album kicks ASS!!!!(and so did Jake E. Lee)

From: rocky balboa Date: January 1, 2003 at 16:52
Yo dude this here album is good but too much spit and polish kinda like Apollo Creed but it gots some good moments yooooooooooo adrian!

From: SMEDLEY Date: April 15, 2003 at 2:48
ThunderDan I too Dislike Killer Of Giants. The such contents of this CD didnt do much to enlighten the listening devices known formally as ears. But I do feel likek its better to listen too then Ozyy's new material.

From: Gar Date: May 24, 2003 at 6:58
This is an ok album at best in my opinion. I'd say about half of the songs are pretty good. Overall though it lacks the bite you'd normally expect from an OZZY album.

From: BYRDMAN69 Date: May 26, 2003 at 16:24
HEY RENO, THANK GOD FOR THE BOMB IS ANTI-WAR,AS THE LYRICS GO "IF THATS THE ONLY THING THAT KEEPS THE PEACE,THEN THANK GOD FOR THE BOMB" . MEANING PEOPLE KNOW THAT NUKE BOMBS WOULD PROBLABLY BE THE END OF EVERYTHING,THEREFORE THE BOMBS THEMSELVES KEEP US FROM LAUNCHING, BECAUSE OF THE END RESULT. READ THE LYRICS.....

From: razor2467 Date: June 7, 2003 at 21:06
I dont think that this is Ozzy's best album, but it sure beats Down to Earth. I also dont think that Jake E. Lee showed his true potential with Ozzy either.

From: Zenari Date: June 10, 2003 at 2:36
SIMPLY PERFECT!! THATS *REAL* HARD ROCK!!!!!

From: toni girona Date: October 30, 2003 at 15:15

From: meradona Date: April 2, 2004 at 19:02

From: Tocallo Date: April 6, 2004 at 18:05

From: emi Date: May 10, 2004 at 17:54
tal vez sea el mejor trabajo de ozzy.aqui dentro hallareis una cancion magica, estremacedora, si me refiero a esa.SHOT IN THE DARK

THIS ONE OF MY FAVOURITES OZZY OSBOURNE ALBUMS...I LIKE THIS KIND OF GOOD FUCKIN ROCK N ROLL...SONGS LIKE THE ULTIMATE SIN,SHOT IN THE DARK,NEVER,FOOL LIKE YOU....REALLY KICKS SOME ASS....I THINK IS ONE OF THE BEST ALBUMS IN THE 80´S OF HARD ROCK..... OZZY RULES!!

From: Rycheage Date: July 14, 2004 at 22:16
This is probably the most consistent release from the Ozz-man. "Shot In The Dark", "Lightning Strikes", "Never", "Secret Loser" and "Fool Like You" are most recognizable songs but all are really good melodic metal. Highly recommended!!

From: Rocker76 Date: July 15, 2004 at 9:15
Hey Rycheage, I could not agree more! Jake E. Lee brought in that classic 80s metal guitar sound on Bark at the Moon but Ultimate Sin is really where it took off. All the songs you mentioned are classic (especially "Shot in the Dark") but I also enjoy "Killer of Giants." One of the best 80s metal albums ever made...10/10

From: Metal Jay Date: August 3, 2004 at 23:57
I love this one from beginning to end. No bad songs here. I think this Randy Castillo's shining moment. The whole thing is great, but i love the drums on this one.

From: charvel man Date: November 19, 2004 at 22:53
I pull this out every now and then and listen to it. By far the best thing about it is Jake E Lee. He proves me right anytime someone listens to a badlands disc. I don't see what the big fuss is about ozzy. He is basicly a alcoholic and a drug addict. I can forgive it somewhat because he is a nice guy. But come on. For what he is, he should not be as rich as he is. It's not jealously it's the truth.

From: christo Date: November 25, 2004 at 10:54
why shouldnt ozzy be as rich as he is, what do you mean for what he is, can you explain more to clarify, ozzy is a a rock legend, he has been instrumental in some of the best metal music ever,so beoming rich for it , I would say he deserves it

From: Propane Date: November 30, 2004 at 20:36
Amost excellent album. Randy was a good guitarist, but Jake took it to a much higher level. Jake made these what they were; true classics.

From: rockfan Date: December 1, 2004 at 14:23
Love it or hate it, this is another CLASSIC album! While it's mostly polished to have a commercial sound. The great talent is still shown here. I love it, specialy "Shot In The Dark". The video alone will leave you talking like this: "Wow! This is what MTV should play again!" Also the last album with Jake Lee. He then went to join Badlands.

From: Joan Date: March 27, 2005 at 9:26
SHOT IN THE DARK!

From: Rockhead Date: May 12, 2005 at 13:08
This album is pants and should never have been released. Weak songs and a tepid production that chopped Ozzy's balls off. Shot in The Dark was very good but they should have just released it as an EP. The Ultimate Sin indeed-Ozzy never sounded so crap.

From: meradona Date: June 4, 2005 at 8:49

From: jrscan77 Date: October 5, 2005 at 17:39

From: poproxx2007 Date: December 27, 2005 at 2:12
This is a classic Heavy Metal Album. Maybe you had to be around to buy it when it came out. KNAC played The Ultimate Sin, Thank God For The Bomb, Lightning Strikes and Shot In The Dark. 1986 was such a banner year for metal. I remember seeing Metallica open for Ozzy at the Long beach Arena in June of 1986 as the were supporting Masters of Puppets. Ozzy was supporting this release and it was exciting time!

From: metalhead4life Date: January 13, 2007 at 1:33
Oh yeah, kick ass album!! The Ozzman delivers here and this one is better than his previous effort. Killer songs and Jake E. Lee continued his awesome guitar licks. This is defintitely a must own along with Blizzard Of Oz and No More Tears. Hell, you really can't go wrong with any Ozzy album especailly from his debut up to Ozzmosis (while Ozzmosis is tamer than the rest, it still delivers with great songs). Ozzy rules!!

From: SangreAzulForever Date: February 1, 2007 at 8:55
For me, bark at the moon and this one are the best Ozzy releases in terms of melody and power. Completely outstanding albums!! 10/10

From: juan carlos Date: March 6, 2007 at 19:30
Gran disco. 9/10

From: tocallo1 Date: December 4, 2007 at 23:03

From: Rocker76 Date: October 15, 2008 at 14:48
This was always my favorite Ozzy album for sentimental reasons, but repeated listens really show that it's a much stronger album than most rock critics and even other Ozzy fans will admit. Shot in the Dark, of course, gets all the attention but every tune here is a great piece of '80s hard rock. Jake E. Lee was my favorite Ozzy guitarist and his contributions made this album essential for fans of '80s hard rock. And even though Ozzy seems to pretend like this album never existed, I would love for him to embrace this album a little more and quit trying to impress the Ozzfest crowd. Let them all go listen to Slayer if they want heavy...THE ULTIMATE SIN RULES!

From: pie75 Date: August 3, 2010 at 8:05
this ozzy album is special to me it's the first one i heard and had to have it immediatly yes it is commercial but it still rocks hard jake's playing is great love the intro to killer of giants from start to finnish not a bad track shot in the dark is even cool i alsao got to meet ozzy and had him sign this cd it's one of my prized possesions

From: Rocker76 Date: August 20, 2010 at 14:21
Ozzy must have read my post from 10-15-08... At the ozzfest in Devore CA last week, the setlist included Shot in the Dark and Killer of Giants!!! IT'S ABOUT TIME OZZY!! Of course, it helps that Gus G. is a Jake fan. But, whatever it takes! ULTIMATE SIN RULES!!

From: hair metal again Date: September 25, 2010 at 2:25
in my opinion this is a masterpiece and surely ozzman s best release.amazing production by ron nevison, excellent guitar by jake and very good songwriting.there is not a filler here, all song are crackers.the only thing that is no good is that "shot in the dark" was stolen by phil soussan from the overland brothers from their WILDLIFE dayz.check you tube and you ll find the truth.overall this is a must have

From: chriskar Date: November 18, 2010 at 4:36
Ozzy rules!!!!This is his best album ever!!!!

From: halfordhughes Date: April 25, 2011 at 11:57
Shot in the Dark

From: Buitre Date: May 9, 2013 at 12:42
This one is like...Ozzy goes mainstream? Not as dark as the previous releases, a more more polished production, but before you get me wrong: Another masterpiece from the Madman. 85/100

From: dany69 Date: August 5, 2013 at 21:55
10,!!!!!!! one of the Ozzy best album,,Best period,,whitout a doubt, the best with Bark at the moon,,Killer,,

From: rick kerch vzla Date: September 7, 2014 at 13:16
Ozzy played the "mainstream man" on this record for sure ...in fact, the song "Shot In The Dark" which happens to be the highlight of the album and my personal fave,is a big SHOT of Melodic Rock/Hard AOR one in here...another fine tunes are tracks 1,2(catchy),5 & 8...this is quite an enjoyable record but do not expect a Heavy Metal one...86/100
