This album does more than rock. I got an opportunity to see these guys in concert many years ago. Thier music is unique and definitely has influences on the general direction of music in today's society. A perfect 10!

This group is absolutely awesome!!! They are quality Christian Rock. I just wish they were still recording. If anyone out there knows what happened to them I'd like to know.

An undoubted classic of the genre. Simple, talented & powerful with bottomless pits of melody. Only quibble is that when all is said and done the sound is just a tad cliched. 'Melodic Hair Pop Metal' at it's finest!

Man is this a solid album. Very good band, some great songs and just a fine effort. Melodic rock / AOR fans will enjoy this one. Classy, reminding me a little of Giant.

If Adam is going to leave a message I certainly must. IM back in NJ and still find it interesting to watch the bidding wars on EBAY when someone sells one of our CD's. Thanks to all the Novella fans old and new. All is well... Jon Spinola

Ahahaha I add my rate about you!I prefer your”liquid earth”cd to this one that is superior about arrangements and sounds but I find more energy in the other one.BTW my rate is positive too and I’m the 7th person who put good comment for your band!

Very original one. I saw the video 'Give me love' at YouTube and I run for obtain this CD. It really mixes well the thin line between Hard Rock and AOR music, not all the songs are as good as the above mentioned, but on whole it´s a good album. 8/10.

Good Melodic Hard Rock album, 7 + 1 = 8 people buen album de Hard Rock Melodico mayormente temas en plan baladas a medio tiempo pero tambien Rock Melodico y AOR es decir cruces de estilos de los cuales Running Home es el tema estrella de la placa una joyita de esas que todos buscan 'Fire Eyes & I Need You' serian los temas que le siguen, como su siguiente trabajo conservan esa linea en estilo y nivel aunque el siguiente me gusta un pelo mas buen trabajo 8/10.

I love both Novella albums. The only thing I DON'T like is that there's only two of them! Derek, did you ever get a copy of One Big Sky? There's no way I'm letting go of the one I have, but if you'll contact me, I'll see if I can get you a copy. Send me a posting to no1uno100@hotmail.com.

illimey hit's the mark on his review. This Jersey band has CHOPS to spare. A bottomless pit of melody that will take you to harmony heaven. For a debut release the sound is very full and textured. Pagano is almost a one man show(lead vocals/guitar and keyboards) as he sings with range and emotion. The first 6 tracks are very strong. If your a atheist/agnostic rocker don't let that discourage you from picking this one up. The lyrics are subtle and sometimes deep but not in your face or coming off cheesy. Check out the youtube video for 'Give Me Love' and you be the judge. Top 5 CCM Melodic hard rock release in my book, standing aside: The Brave - Battle Cries,Guardian - Fire & Love,Stryper - To Hell with the Devil,Holy Soldier - S/T

This Christian band's novel approach was to stay true to the commercial hard rock sound that had not quite died by 1991 but invigorate it with their own unique, mature texture. In other words, they sounded like everyone while not sounding quite like anyone. Lots of big hooks on this one--the opening tracks alone make that point quite well--and Pagano's voice possesses a plethora of pure emotive power and the songs give him the space in which to work his vocal magic. Doesn't quite reach heavenly pinnacles of perfection, but a good choice for those looking for a slightly unique style within the melodic hard rock realm.

Novella's debut album is in mot parts heavier than their next and unfortunately their last album till this very day.still very melodic album with some great choruses.Jonathan's vocal style and Adam's drumming tends in some songs into progressive waters. That could be heard in their opening track of this album.they followed this formula on A liquid earth album.lyrics again very deep, positive and in some parts of the album also christianic.my faves here include tracks: 1,2,4,6,8 and 9. Give yourself a chance to listen bouth Novella's albums. God bless you all!

A good album but not so brilliant in my humble opinion...it has some lacks here and there but probably the music of this band is kinda introspective, who knows..."Give Me Love","Sweet Rising Sun" & "Big Sky" my faves...85/100

This is one of those Christian bands you wish released their albums in the general market. This is a very high quality release. I gather it took a while to get a recording contract though as I have a rawer version of "running home" on a compilation called The Axemen. Incidently, that is probably my favourite song, this album version as opposed to the demo version.

excellent debut for NOVELLA ,a great band that performs some great commercial metal music with great musicianship ,warm vocals and pretty good songwriting!for sure an under rated act ,mostly because they werent signed in a bigger company i guess ,but it s never too late for fans to enjoy their music!"do we just surrender","i need you","give me love" are the highlights of a very good release!highly recommended if you can find it
