Duff is kinda a strange one. Probably the most out and out talented musician in GNR being a multi instrumentalist, but he has such a diverse taste in music that his solo stuff is all over the place. I loved his first solo album, but it was all over the place musically, but some of that had to do with the guest musicians/singers on it. His Loaded project was decent, but not mind blowing. And the Neurotic Outsiders leant into his punk roots, which is fine as I do love a bit of punk. But the two albums he has released in the last few years under his own name have been pretty dull. Way too laid back for my tastes. Nothing on them really says "rock". Not saying they are bad, just that they are not necessarily gonna appeal to rock fans,
