how come no comments???? this is one of the best in my opinion 80's releases, just strong aor/rock songs that feature great songswriting, playing and just pure 80's!!!! A legend rocks, 2 plus 2 was also covered by Vzandt, I don't feel the same is a great ballad, and the catchy Envy, You, and my fav Firestarter. This is one not to miss!!! can't really come up with a comparison, just great original music!!!

Hey what happen, this is PURE AOR JEWEL, KILLERRR, ya comentare mas adelante de esta joya por ahora estoy lo disfrutando, uno de los mejores discos de AOR de la primera mitad de la DECADA mas grande a lo Van Zant y los 5 bonus son DEMOLEDORES!!!

From: Rockhead Date: April 5, 2005 at 3:36
A definate "must have" for fans of early 80's melodic rock/ AOR. Rendevous (covered by The Tygers of PAn Tang) is awesome as is 95% of this disc. Hats off to escape for the excellent remastering and bonus tracks. For fans of Harlan Cage, Survivor, and good quality keyboard/guitar driven melodic rock. 9.5/10

Good stuff, but far from brilliant. The first half is great, but the second one is a lot weaker. Not consistent enough ! Anyway, it's head an shoulders above their second release 'Phonogenic' which is hi-tech AOR, awfull ! Good AOR, but no competition at all with the real classics as Signal, I-Ten, Van Stephenson, Shadow King, Fortune, Survivor, Bad English, The Storm, Drive She Said, Mecca, Harlan Cage, Outland (new one), The V.U., Streets, Balance, Boulevard etc. etc. Worth buying at least.

Forgot to mention the bonus tracks are excellent (originally for the 3rd album)guitar driven melodic rock monsters.

Commented on this one already - all got wiped it seems!!!This is a class release in my eyes and is well up there with some of the others of the genre. Some of the tracks on here some people will recognise, Legend Never Dies - Blackfoot, 2+2 - Van Zant & 'Rendezvous' - Tygers Of Pan Tang. Anyways great AOR, with great songs, although i could have done without a couple of the bonus tracks. An album worthy of the 'Classix' tag.

From: Rafo Phoenix Date: May 15, 2005 at 22:43

HERE IS A CLASSIC ALBUM AND SURELY 1 OF THE BEST. THEY HAVE ANOTHER ALBUM (PHONOGHENIC) WHICH IS PRETTY GOOD. AGAIN THE RADIO STATIONS SCREWED THE PUBLIC BY NOT PLAYING THEM ON THE AIR. THIS BAND IS GREAT. A LEGEND NEVER DIES,2+2,FIRESTARTER,ENVY TOTALLY ARE MASTERPIECES. THE LYRICS ARE SUPER. THEY ARE NOT FORGOTTEN BY ME.I PLAY THEM CONSTANTLY.

I only recently got around to buying this. After hunting for it on and off for years, and it's pretty fine. Not quite perfect - I can't stand the track Video Games which is a little corny - and I kinda prefer Phonogenic ... possibly because I've lived with that release a lot longer than this. But if you like your AOR you'll love this.

IMO one of the top 20 aor-releases of all time! Great voice, the songwriting couldn't be much better or catchier, lyrically clever and great fun to listen to (whatever mood you're in). On the other hand, don't be disappointed to find out that "video games" is just awful, like most of the bonustracks. Be warned of the quality - THIS IS A VINYL REMASTER (you can literally hear the clicks and pops)! Since this is the only cd release until now, buy if you're a fan of foreigner or i-ten! 8.5/10

A very good album that any SURVIVOR or JOURNEY fan would love to listen to. My fave songs are A LEGEND NEVER DIES, YOU and FIRESTARTER. Of course RENDEVOUZ is a famous song because TYGERS OF PAN TANG but to be honest i like the NWOBHM version more then this original one. HARD AOR/HARD ROCK maniacs, this is a must have.

¿DONDE ESTA EL PHONOGENIC del 84 d esta Genuina Banda? IGUAL D BUENO Q EL 1º!!!¿Alguien d acuerdo con mi modesta opinion?

Classic album in the vein of Van Zant, Journey etc. Can't pick any standouts as they are all great, but I must mention the ballads "It Don't Feel The Same" and "Don't Make It Hard"... wonderful songs that takes you back to the 80's. Recommended CD.

Update:: Now avaliable as a double CD package along with the previously unreleased on cd 2nd album 'Phonogenic'. The S/T doesn't have the bonus tracks (no loss really) on the MTM version, but both are remastered from the original Anologue tapes and sound much better than the vinyl transfer on the MTM version. Avaliable at the Retrospect website for a very reasonable price as well. An excellent little package!!

Great stuff! 2+2 is classic AOR!!

From: BIG-TIME Date: February 25, 2008 at 17:05
Funny enough I like this it's like GTR or The Ladder, Survivor etc etc. Really good early 80s AOR, buy or die...KEEP ROCKIN ALL!!!

From: PODEROSO YIRO Date: May 5, 2008 at 21:13
Very Good AOR. The combined power with melody in a very good way. I think their style was in the Survivor, I-Ten(not so soft) and Surgin direction. I prefer Van Zant version of 2+2, but this version has it´s particular strenght. Guitars are dinamic, and Keyboards are too; Vocals in a good shape and Efective Songs... Good Album

Great stuff in the PREVIEW,I-TEN,VAN ZANT(2+2) vein,it means excellent early 80´s AOR,that riff in the begining of A legend never dies blew me away, fantastic ballads with I don´t feel the same and Don´t make it hard full with great feeling,Firestarter is my favorite,I´m a wreck begins slow and delivers it into a powerful song, the bonus tracks are great too, with a more fine sound On again, off again and Hands are the standouts,Classic and a must have for any serious AOR fan,9/10.

WOW WHAT A GREAT RELEASE. I,M GLAD THIS GOT OUT ON CD. WITH 5 BONUS SONGS. THE SINGER IS ACTUALLY ROBERT WHITE JOHNSON. HE HAS DONE A LOT OF WRITING FOR SUCCESSFUL BANDS. GREAT MELODIC CLASSIC ROCK. A MUST OWN CD. I OWN THIS AND THE DOUBLE CD RELEASE FROM RETROSPECT. BUY THEM BOTH. COMPARE TO VANZANT AND FRANKE&THE KNOCKOUTS.

Great Aor. If you like I-TEN and such bands, you'll love this one too.

From: 123charpenay Date: August 8, 2013 at 5:57
top class american eighties a o r in the vein of van Stephenson or i ten for example.it s a killer record.no fillers.the five bonus tracks are excellent,at the same level than the rest.nevertheless i prefer the Blackfoot version of "a legend never die" and the van zant version of "2+2".

From: rick kerch vzla Date: October 14, 2013 at 20:26
Classic album, maybe not a masterpiece but surely a goodie one, some of the songs on this record have been covered by artists such as Blackfoot,Tygers Of Pang Tang and Vanzant among others..."A Legend Never Dies","2 + 2","Rendezvous","Envy","You" & "Firestater" are my faves...i own the original print so i don't have the bonus tracks shamely...for old AOR school lovers this would be a delight...85/100
