If you see any errors or omissions in the CD information shown above, either in the musician credits or song listings (cover song credits, live tracks, etc.), please post them in the corrections section of the Heavy Harmonies forum/message board.
The music discographies on this site are works in progress. If you notice that a particular Mass CD release or compilation is missing from the list above, please submit that CD using the CD submission page. The ultimate goal is to make the discographies here at Heavy Harmonies as complete as possible. Even if it is an obscure greatest-hits or live compilation CD, we want to add it to the site. Please only submit official CD releases; no bootlegs or cassette-only or LP-only releases.
EPs and CD-singles from Mass are also welcome to be added, as long as they are at least 4 songs in length.

This is NOT a Christian band. Louis D'Augusta (!) in an interview explained the background of each song which in most cases was not religious. (Loving his girlfriend; being on the road a lot; etc.) The interview was on-line at Tripod (ultmetal.tripod.com/mass.htm) - but, now it's gone. How'd they get pegged as Christian? Don't know -- but, THEY'RE NOT. Just a "feel good" band playing second-rate '80's metal. Why bother?

This has to be one of the most incredible bands i have ever heard next to Stryper and Holy Soldier. Awesome albums considering all the flack they took from people who prefer to molest children and do nothing about it.

Mass: there was a christian band called mass - this aint it!!! mass "New Birth" was by far the most catchy album to be released the year it was, but it didnt get mych airplay outside of the old WCOZ in rhode island, and the skate palace in milford ma. ( i was the dj), louie st august, you rule, i wish you and yours well, if anyone can get thier hands on the original 4 song demo with pedal to the metal, do it, i have it it is f*ckin' the best. love you guys,

This album deserves to be issued on CD but still has not been released. A great heavy metal platter with infectious vocal melodies, heavy rhythms and just a great overall vibe. Would love to see RCA re-issue this album as well as Joshua's 'Intense Defense.' Two great albums that RCA refuses to release to the artists for re-issue. http://www.nolifetilmetal.com/mass.htm

They got the Christian Metal label from their later releases, one of them was produced by Stryper's Michael Sweet. Nothing they did afterwards came close to recapturing the sound or feel of New Birth. The four song, self titled EP was even better, in my opinion. Definitely grab it if you can find it.

I don't see why it should matter if they're christian or not. Does that really effect the music? New Birth has recently been re-issued on Retrospect Records, and the sound clips sound great! I'ma grab it myself!!

Just got my new CD copy of this classic, and Holy Shit does it sound awesome on CD!! They included a bonus track titled 'Endless Thoughts', which is a good ballad even though it's still in demo form. So good to have this on CD. It's about time, and well worth the wait!

Some really smashing tunes on this. "Too far gone" and "new birth" kick major ass, bit harder than the "Voices in the night" album. But with the happy FIREHOUSE sounding ballad "do you love me" is also a bit crappy song here.
