Good CD for 89 Metal. A little light, but definite Journey/Yngwie Malmsteen influence. First love is my favorite track, listened to it nonstop as a senior...

From: Rycheage Date: February 28, 2002 at 23:15
The title track alone is worth the price of admission. 'Love Begins Again' is an awesome ballad. It's unfortunate this CD did not get the exposure it truly deserved. The CD is on the light metal side but right on par with the times (1989). A good comparison would be the first Danger Danger CD.

Great melodic hard rock album. A true clasic i think.

From: koogles Date: June 5, 2003 at 14:30
An ideal purchase if you like Triumph or Hugo. Gene Marchello could have sat behind Rik Emmett's desk, answered his phones and smoked his cigars back in 1989.

I like

From: BrianR Date: October 16, 2003 at 20:31
Just listened to a song called 'All God's Angels' - Is this the same band? What album is it from? Unbelievable song!!

From: JRabbit Date: October 30, 2003 at 21:49
I listened to TNT, Yngwie, Journey, Europe, and White Wolf back then and Marchello, albeit obscure, fit right in! The whole album ain't bad but the tracks 'Destiny' and 'Living for #1' are so excellent, with such great lyrics and music that it has kept the tape in my stereo on and off for more than 10 years! Yes, very excellent. A part of my life always. Ought to find it on CD-- but there's so many bands here to check first!!! If you like the stuff I named, try Crystal, Centaur, and Fate.

From: Kyle Date: December 5, 2003 at 20:21
I bought this album when it first came out and, being a melodic guitarist myself, I fell in love with this album. Marchello's style is so unique and impressive. The best track on this album would be 'Destiny'...I love the way he made the transition from the song, into an instrumental interlude, then smoothly back to the song again. Brilliant work! This album will always remain one of my favorites on my shelf of guitar heroes!

From: Don Date: January 10, 2004 at 10:38
I'd never heard of them until just now I saw the video for 'First Love' on VH1 Classic's 'Metal Mania' hour. Heard the TNT similarity right away (similar voice). Had to laugh when I saw that the babe in the video is Gina Gershon! The things people do before they're famous.......

From: amethyst Date: January 11, 2004 at 2:37
I just saw it too!!! I've never heard of these guys before. Cannot believe that was Gina Gershon. Would love to see her face if that clip ever surfaced. But seriously - this band bites.

From: Christine Date: January 11, 2004 at 15:56
I saw the 'First Love' vid last night as well... glad I never wasted any time on this one!

From: Dean Date: January 20, 2004 at 13:37
Hey guys(and ladies)-don't just judge Marchello on that video. I made the same mistake years ago. Very song oriented mellow melodic rock. The rest of the album is quite good. Esp the guitars.

From: metalhead Date: February 1, 2004 at 4:51

From: Good Rats Fan Date: March 28, 2004 at 4:53
I got this when it was released .As a guitarist too, I was instantly blown away. Gene is and was one of the best late 80's guitarist/lead singers in one.On par w/John Sykes,Rik Emmet and Dave Meniketti. This was an exciting era for 'musicians musicians'.I fondly remember seeing Gene written up in Guitar For the Practicing Musician and the article mentioning an audition w/Ozzy! I'd love to hear the never released 2nd album. Peppi and Gene rule!!! Long Live The Italian Connection!!!!!!

From: Mike h Date: May 3, 2004 at 0:53
I just got this album about 4 months ago and fell in love with it. Gene Marchello is such a fabulous guitar player and has much talent. it's such a shame he was so underrated along with his band. the best songs are BROWN EYES, DESTINY, and their most famous song, FIRST LOVE

From: Mike h Date: May 3, 2004 at 0:58
HEY DON, that's funny you mention that because i watch METAL MANIA all the time and that's how i got in to them, it was from seeing the FIRST LOVE video. I caught it just in time for about the last minute of the video so i didn't get to see the whole thing.

From: T-Bone Date: September 28, 2004 at 23:22
I finally got my copy of this cd and I love it! I had the 2nd unreleased cd for about a year now and that one is also awesome. Great melodies and guitar riffage here. The singer sounds like a cross of Ted poley and Steve perry in some places, but musically, they have more of a Frontline feel to them. Highly Recommended!

From: BigC Date: November 4, 2004 at 13:21
The unreleased 2nd album is available for download to members of melodicrock.com along with other good stuff.

Hello to all. If there's anyone out there who has MARCHELLO "II" cd and can post the artwork on here, it would be greatly appreciated. Thanks.

From: marco Date: December 20, 2004 at 11:46
great album, journey with some heavy metal influence

From: MetalSkull Date: December 23, 2004 at 2:25
Great CD. There are certain moments of the album that almost make me feel like i'm listening to a demo, mainly because of a few improvements musically that could have been made here and there, but this was a debut album so we should cut them a little slack. The best parts of the album are the more emotional tracks like "Destiny" & "First Love". All the great melodies just seem to take you on an emotional journey, and that is really what good music should do. Not perfect, but very enjoyable.

From: Geoff Date: January 4, 2005 at 20:42
This is a good solid hard rock album - awesome sound, but it's one of those very sad situations where the 2nd album is literally 100 times better than this one, IMO. Some silly lyrics here and although the songs are generally okay it just doesn't hit the mark anywhere near what the second more focused CD does. Decent CD, but track down a CDR of the 2nd and you'll be blown away.

From: the game Date: February 16, 2005 at 14:04
Awesome cd. The guitars are killer and this cd Rocks! One of the best cd's I have heard in a long time. Great melodic rock. A must for anyone who likes the 80's melodic hard rock scene.

From: ladybloody Date: March 21, 2005 at 20:51

this band totally rocks theres this rare song of theirs called "All Gods Angels" has anyone heard it? what does it mean , talk about ?

From: Wolven Date: April 7, 2006 at 5:44
Excellent melodic hard rock with great guitars. Lately, I bought the 2d unrelaesed CD on Ebay. Even if it's a CDR, the sound is top and the songs are marvellous. Top songs: All God's Angels, Every Man's Lover, Euphoria, Dancers, Riot. If You liked the Destiny album, you should try to get a copy of this one. More of this please !

From: Clayton77 Date: October 22, 2006 at 11:07
This is an awesome melodic-hardrock-cd influenced by Dokken, Triumph, Journey, Silver Mountain and Malmsteen. GREAT!!

From: juan carlos Date: December 24, 2006 at 0:10
Mis Super-favoritas del disco son: "What If" "Living for Number One" y sobretodo "Heavy Weight Champ of Love" trallazo de tema y la mejor. "She´s Magic" ala The Storm temazo AOR. La 10 buena y finaliza con una instrumental muy metalizada. 8.8/10

From: juan carlos Date: December 24, 2006 at 0:18
Saludos.

From: shark attack Date: May 17, 2008 at 11:00
Interesting CD from wannabe axe shredder Gene Marchello, who as well as some nifty fretboard gymnastics, sings in a style similar to Steve Perry of JOURNEY. As for the music, imagine a Shrapnel records band attempting to be TNT and you would be pretty much there. Song wise the first 5 songs really kick some ass with hooks big enough for the mouth of a great white shark, sadly the quality fades quickly into the second half of the disc. 71/100

From: calitos10 Date: December 12, 2008 at 11:01
Destiny is one of the best hard rock songs EVER. This is a really good album, but the second is PERFECT!!! It has all that a hard rock fan wants. It is known as "the power of Money" or "Marchello 2". It´s a really shame it wasn´t released. I love that album. It´s a must-have!!! Gene plays like a guitar god and sings like an angel!!!

From: rick kerch vzla Date: February 27, 2010 at 18:36
This a good album with good songs but it sounds to Triumph influeced even in the voice!(Gene is probably one of the biggest Rik Emmett's fan around!)that makes it a little dull somehow...as i said, good album but with that Triumph issue...tracks 1,2,4("First Love" which is the one i liked the most, with that sparkling chorus),5,6,9 & 11(a killer instrumental song i must admit)Gene is a good and skilled guitar player but has to be more "versatile"(in quotation mark coz his a good singer but needs more originality). In general lines an album that won't harm you to listen...have a listen and speak out!.85/100

I didnt know this band til some days ago when I read on aor heaven's site, Marchello is coming out on version Classixx by that label. so I serached some songs for my curiosity and I can say this band is a killer! Awesome guitars work and great voice. I will buy the second release by aor heaven classicxx for sure. This one, Destiny, is OOP really hard to find at a decent price. Although I could know that worth is huge.

From: 123charpenay Date: February 10, 2016 at 13:52
exceptional record.gene marchello is the self made man of this killer cd.he sings (beautiful high pitched voice very near to rick emmet from triumph),he plays guitar (he is a virtuoso) and he writes all the songs.congratulations mr marchello.fantastic job.track 3 "destiny" is a masterpiece, tracks 1.2.5.6.8and 9 are excellent hard rock songs, tracks 4.7 and 10 are pure magic beautiful a o r songs.forget track 11 where gene masturbate is guitar.this instrumental have no interest.unfortunately no bonus track on the very rare japan import.

From: hair metal again Date: April 8, 2016 at 8:37
pretty good release by MARCHELLO ,that could be better with the guitars more adjusted to the songs and a bit better songs!don t get me wrong this is good and i can hear some MALMSTEEN,LOUDNESS,TRIUMPH in it but overall it gets lost somewhere."brown eyes",'tight pants","what if" and "love begins again" the best moments!get it if you can find it in a decent price

From: Auslander Date: April 6, 2021 at 13:56
I wish some label (I'm looking at you Rock Candy) would re-release this album so I won't have to sell a kidney or kill someone to get it. I have had a search for literally years for no luck. It's an empty space in my collection and I must get it, my precious!
