No reviews!?! Come on! This is classic. Get it.

If you're not into the Crue, then u're not my friend. Buy the re-issue version of this classic golden oldie.

From: SIXXSWINE Date: April 15, 2001 at 11:12
The expanded version just makes this one better! Like or hate Motley Crue, this one can't be ignored, the punk rockers liked it, the rockers liked it & the general public liked it too. Plus, these guys helped influence everyone that came out in the mid-80's to the late-90's. What more can you say? They were the real deal. 9.5 rating A CLASSIC

From: Mario (Italy) Date: August 10, 2001 at 7:32
Hi, this album is a real classic so buy it! It's a must have for every rock fan! It's probably the best Motley album ever

From: T-BONE Date: August 10, 2001 at 16:05
Great Raw sound. No overproduction here. Straight forward, kick ass, in-your-face rock!

From: Glam Sexy Date: September 9, 2001 at 1:17
It´s good, but not the best album from Mötley Crüe. The best Crüe album, with no doubt is Dr Feelgood from 89. At 'Too Fast For Love', the guys was just begginers, not so mature yet. The songs here, sounds like a melodic rock simple and crude. It´s incredible how their music 'grow up' and get better until the later 80s.

From: SleazyMusic Date: September 10, 2001 at 1:16
I got the Leathur version and it's amazing...no overdubs no compromise GLAM ROCK AND ROLL at its best!!! The most important sleaze record of the eightes.... There's no words to explain, Crue opened up the doors for everyone... This cd kicks ass.....!!!!!!!!!!

This is an Unbelievable album!!This is how rock music should be. Raw, in your face, loud, aggressive, and musically inspiring. This album started it all!! Get a copy and cherish it. The raw unproduced sound makes it even better.

From: RichieRocker Date: June 27, 2002 at 22:56
Maybe its a rumor? but I heard the Crue are doing a 20th anniversary tour with Tommy Lee back on the drums. Is this a rumor? Or is it the truth?

From: Reno Date: June 27, 2002 at 23:58
Considering that Vince and tommy can't stand each other right now, I don't see it happening for a while. Tommy is going good with his solo stuff and he won't let it sit to the side while doing the Motley Crue tour. Besides...They put out their first album in 1981. Isn't a 20th anniversary a little too late?

From: 9 CHAMPIONS A 1 Date: July 28, 2002 at 12:40
Aunque hay temas bastante infantiles y caducados a mi es un disco que me gusta. No se que tiene pero me gusta.

motley was always a great rock n roll band this their first album is great micks screaming guitar with nikkis thundering bass tommys pounding of the drums and vinces great high pitched vocals they did not give a fuck for anything or anyone if your looking for a rock band that do what they want then motley is for you easily one of the best debut albums by any band

From: RichieRocker Date: August 5, 2002 at 16:44

Hardcore motherfuckers who know how to rock and party!!! This is an unbelievable debut recording, Procure it and crank it.

When Vince came to town recently, he sang several off of this one. I was glad to hear them. He was so pissed about the people in Ohio not knowing his solo tunes he did only Crue material when he came here. It was great.

From: jarett r. Date: October 21, 2002 at 22:01
i've heard that motley crue briefly had a different singer before vince neil. anyone know whether or not they recorded demos, etc. with him?

From: SleazyMusic Date: December 4, 2002 at 6:35
jarett, I don't think there's demos or something with the first singer...I think he's been in the band just for some weeks, because the band saw Vince performing and fell in love with him....ROCK AND ROLL

From: Borkforker33 Date: December 18, 2002 at 2:56
I think Mick, Nikki, Tommy and Vince should all get together turn this cd up as loud as they can, and remember just how good they kicked ass. They need to re-ignite that fire they had, but it won't happen unless all of them are together. Anyone who doubts this just needs to listen to 'Live Wire'

From: me Date: January 16, 2003 at 3:06
along with 'shout' their best effort. raw, but very listenable. A true classic. They really lost their way after 1985...although 'girls' wasn't to bad considering the shape they were in!! 9/10

From: jason (FA - Q) Date: February 8, 2003 at 19:59
Vince Neil is 42 years old today. He was born on Wednesday, Feb. 8th, 1961. That means he was about 21 years old when Motley Crue made this album. There are some pretty good songs on this record, but the production is horse shit.

From: samolice Date: March 3, 2003 at 14:02
Everytihn has been said! Just this few words. 'Piece of Your Action' is THE rock'n roll song all bands need to compose!!! Listen it and tell if it's not a pure magic song even after all this years!

From: rising power Date: March 24, 2003 at 2:54
I like all five albums they made in the eighties. I do think this is weaker than the rest. Because it sounds a bit uncoherent. On one side you got NWOBHMish hardrockers like Live Wire and Come on and Dace and on the over side you got Cheap Trick/Angel like poppy song like Public enemy nr.1(sounds a bit like UFO's Money Money)and On with the show. Like the raw sound though. But on the next one Motley Crue started to sound like itself

O primeiro de uma série!Embora não tenha o mesmo reconhecimento de outros trabalhos,é simplesmente demais!Starry Eyes e Too Fast For Love são simplesmente lindas!Prova de que eles são muito mais que apenas um grupo que toca pintado e vestido de mulher!

The debut album from MOTLEY CRUE just rocks! Great songs, great guitar riffs. Vince Neil was in good form when they released this album. He has lost most of his energy. I went to recent show, and he lacked of energy. But anyway, he still have a good voice. I would like Vince to get in form again!

From: Urban Date: October 23, 2003 at 23:12
Their best album IMO... I believe Vince rewrote the lyrics to 'Too Fat, Too Fat For Love' recently :-) Simplicity rules however and this record is the living proof of just that.

From: Bryan Date: January 22, 2004 at 2:36
Too Fast For Love is the #1 glam album of all time. Hanoi Rocks never came close to Motley's success. Regarding Vince's accident, no one told Razzle to get in the car with Vince.

From: AOR freaky Date: January 22, 2004 at 9:11
I prefer Ratt above Cruë ! They were more original and more really swinging ! But Cruë is certainly on top of the glam scene. Although, are both Ratt and Cruë real glam acts ? ? ! Don't know, there are a lot of pure hardrock-elements in their music. Poison, which I don't like that much and the awfull Hanoi Rocks (bah !!) are pure glam.

This is where it all began...the version they're talking about here is the Elektra release in 1982, but the original Leathur Records version from 1981 is better; if you have a chance to listen to it, do yourself a favor and do so. I think they re-relased the original as part of one of their recent compilations. For one thing, Elektra butchered 'Starry Eyes', the original is much better.

From: jack Date: May 14, 2004 at 4:54
A totally rocking and 'special' album. My favourite songs are take me to the top and starry eyes. rating 9/10

From: Big Papa K Date: June 27, 2004 at 20:42
Where all the lunacy and craziness started. This album shows why Motley Crue became one of the biggest hard rock bands of the 80's. They combine harder eged Kiss/New York Dolls/Aerosmith songs with a very raw production and load and loads of cowbell. Too bad they don't perform much of this live. It was all downhill from here (but not by much). 10/10

From: manos Date: September 24, 2004 at 14:51
The first album from Motley Crue won't be standing equal to their other albums but there is something in it, that is really worth all the buzz. You' ve got some unbelievably heavy riffs considering the standards of the year '82, some really adolescent raw playing and a fresh sound that despite the cheap production comes straight in your face. It would be easily among the best album of that year in the hard rock scene. But hey, that was just the beginning...

From: Date: November 14, 2004 at 9:22
This album was good as a kid not now, you listen to vince neils whiny vocals and the lame guitar and you think how can people rate such mediocre crap so highly, merry go round and round lmao

From: Propane Date: December 2, 2004 at 22:48
This was my ear opener for these ultra cool sleaze-bags. I couldn't believe my ears. Over the top drums. psychos, all of 'em!!! But they were awesome. They stole everyone's girlfriend, probably even mine at one time or another. They didn't jump on the bandwagon, they invented it for others to follow.

From: AOR-MESSIAH Date: December 24, 2004 at 10:06
This is an absolute classic. Not a bad song amongst the tracks. This is one of those albums which you have to listen to before you die. Get the Music To Crash Your Car To Vol. 1 Box Set with both this and the original Leathur Records Issue. Play it loud and enjoy.

From: Geoff Date: January 9, 2005 at 4:43
This is a classic, no doubt about that. It doesn't matter if not every song is perfect, because it's not important. Every song is a hard hitting peice of hard rock history. 'Piece of your action' and 'Live wire' have been two of my favourite Motley tracks since day one. Killer hard rock CD; raw and the way you need an album to sound once in a while.

Vintage motley crue too fast for love(3 parts punk/glam/metal) the classic album that started it all. "live wire" -hot young running free a little bit better than i used to be-! The greatest glam/metal album of all time. Motley Crue's best....

From: Mediaab Date: February 25, 2006 at 11:24
This was a great start for this raunchy bunch from LA! Very catchy songs, great performance and a cool attitude. I just wish Elektra had chosen some other producer than Roy Thomas Baker to re-mix this album, he did a decent job, sure, but it could have been done way better! If you compare Live wire and Piece of your action from this album with the Bob Rock re-mixes of Decade Of Decadence - you will know what I mean! Bob Rock improved the sound tremendously! Still, a classic!

Raw and so-so album, but hey, it was their debut! Also, production seems to have only improved on Motley's albums over time. This is my first review on HH but I will give feedback on every song for those interested in purchasing the CD. 1. Live Wire- 8/10. Often regarded as best song on TFFL, I strongly disagree. The riff is sweet, but I dunno.. Vince Neil's voice annoys me on this song, which is VERY RARE! 2. Come On And Dance- 9/10. I used to be hooked on this song! Opening riff owns, Neil's voice is badass, Tommy sounds good (although he's a VERY overrated drummer). GREAT TUNE! 3. Public Enemy #1- 11/10! I absolutely LOVE this song! Everything is perfect. Best on the CD? Very possible... 4. Merry-Go-Round- 4/10. Hate it.. One of the songs that you skip everytime.. 5. Take Me To The Top- 7/10. Nice guitar work by Mick, and good vocal by support by Vince. Chorus sucks though IMO, it's so damn dull. CONTINUED ON NEXT REVIEW!

From: PC Rocker Date: June 27, 2008 at 10:53
Continued from above. 6. Piece of Your Action- 8/10. Pretty catchy tune, nice symbol action from Lee. 7. Starry Eyes- 10/10. Oh Starry Eyes! This song is so rich! I love it! Not as good as Public Enemy #1, but this is one damn great song too! 8. Too Fast For Love- 9/10. The title track on this one is a very good tune. Also done very well live, but that's beside the point. This song has the best guitar intro on the entire album. Great sing-along song. 9. On With The Show- 11/10. Equal tie between this one and PE#1. Completely different songs, but both make you feel so damn good! The band itself also really loves this song dearly. Lol, I remember when I saw them (believe this was the third song after Shout at the Devil and Too Fast For Love) that Vince said "Here's a fucking good tune from our first album." It is just that! Simply terrific! Too Fast For Love album- 8/10. As said before, raw, but that ain't bad! Nice work. Feel free to ask me about other albums for imput!

Today marks the 35th anniversary of the original Leathur Records release of Too Fast For Love (remixed and re-released by Elektra in August of '82--you decide which version you like better). Is this the first hair-metal album? I dunno, but if I could go back in time, I would say it probably sounded quite different from most stuff on FM radio back in the heyday of glossy AOR. This is the Crue at their most raw and punky, the hooks not aiming for arena singalongs, Tommy's drumming hyperactive, the guitar playing loose and the tone ragged, Vince's voice shrill and nasal and frequently going off-key on the high shrieks. Much like James Hetfield on Kill 'Em All, he barely resembles what he would become on later albums. Certain songs are not among the band's best, like "Come On And Dance," "Starry Eyes" and "Merry Go Round," which really makes me wonder how early single "Toast Of The town" didn't make the cut. (Its B-side, "Stick To Your Guns" did make the Leathur version, but not the Elektr

... but not the Elektra edition). This disc just has such a cool feel about it, a young and hungry band (literally and figuratively) in a city that by most accounts didn't have much of a scene yet, let alone the huge machine that existed later in the '80's. A perfect soundtrack to the sordid tale of Eddie Nash, John Holmes, the Starwood, and the Wonderland murders.

From: $$ixx Date: August 7, 2019 at 16:06
Just came in to say that the original first Leathür mix by a young Michael Wagener, that can be heard on remastered versions on the first disc of Music to crash your car to (bad title..), from 2003, is the very BEST MIX available! It was great just as it was!, with clear bass, up front vocals and crispier drums, esp the snare. RTB made the snare more 80s, definitely worse, but the band had no say. I love Wagener's mix. Raw but richer in dynamics too. All 10 tracks on the original 1981 Leathür release are cool. A great start for this band, young and very hungry style hardrock with pop elements. Thanks to the band for finally releasing this fine original Wagener mix on remastered CD format. The only thing that was better on the Elektra version, was the artwork that was enhanced with better pictures. Toast of the town and the cover song Tonight, are great bonus tracks. Stick to your guns (not essential but an ok song) was omitted from Elektra version due to copyright issues.

From: AJManiac666 Date: August 5, 2021 at 8:31
Beginning of the "Glam Metal" era. Just a basic start for this band but yet this is an okay album as Vince sounds quite good in this one. Anyhow some songs are quite heavy but just their promising start.
