|This is the album that should have followed 'DR. FEELGOOD'.Not as good as some of their early work but definitely a major step in the right direction.Welcome back!!!

|Much, much better than the experimental 'Generation Swine' CD. No, it doesn't attain 'Dr. Feelgood' level, but then again, not many hard rock albums do. This is a good, solid entry into the band's discography and a welcome return to form. The songs 'Hell on High Heels' & 'Punched in the Teeth by Love' are some of the best tracks Motley has penned since their 'Girls Girls Girls' era. If this release is a sign of things to come, I'll gladly continue to call myself a Motley Crue fan.

|This is classic CRUE! Almost every track is killer rock n roll! A job well done!

|Dug this album at first but wasn't 'wowed' by it. Two years later though and I listen to it at least once a week. Great songs and now to me one of their best albums. Should have been given more of a chance as it does grow on you. It doesn't help that Nikki Sixx himself seems to apologize for it now for some reason. Hey Nikki it's AWESOME!!!

|All right, some songs are great: treat me like the dog I am, Fake, Hell on high heels (uuuh, a song for all the fetish gangsters around the world..eheheh) but the production is poor.... It's the Motley's comeback to rock and roll... It's not excellent but I like it.

|The guys went back to basics on this one. Maybe it isn't their best CD, but it's a great listen. This is the album that should have been released in 96, not that terrible 'Swine' album. 'Dragstrip Superstar' does it for me, killer song!! RIP Randy Castillo.
||Date: June 27, 2002 at 21:26|
|I love 'Punched in the Teeth by Love' and a couple of other songs. This should have followed Dr.Feelgood in my opinion.
||Date: June 28, 2002 at 2:37|
|Yes Richie. This is the cd that should have been done instead of Swine. Generation Swine pretty much pissed off alot of Motley Crue die hard fans. It was a sellout on their part. This was a great return to their signature sound. Most of this cd I would compare to Primal Screem meets Wildside.

|I know that it has been sometime now since Randy Castillo past away, but I just read about the concert that was held for him in L.A. It sounds like it was a blast. Some guys from GnR were there as well as Steven Tyler and Buckcherry. That would have been a great show! Alot of stars showed up for this. Randy was a very well liked Drummer. I think he played with Ozzy for about 10 years. R.I.P...........

|Arrest warrant has been issued for Vince Neil. He is accussed of throwing punches at producer Michael Schuman. The two don't know one another but, for some reason Vince got out of his car at a night club and punched the guy right in the face! The dude fell to the ground and fractured his elbow (that had to hurt). More info. on this at Melodicrock.com

||Date: August 26, 2002 at 9:01|
|not quite the kick ass rock n roll album i expected to be honest..some songs are cool but it ain't my favorite crue disc... listening tips: 'punched in the teeth by love', 'hollywood ending', 'dragstrip superstar' and 'american zero', one of the best crue tunes only to be found on the japanese import version of this disc.. email@example.com
||Date: September 20, 2002 at 0:24|
|As much as I'm happy that they returned to their 'real' sound, This cd sounds rushed and uninspired. The production needs a little help. Great music and Vince sounds good, but the production is half assed. The track listing is in the wrong order also.
||Date: November 6, 2002 at 23:39|
|IF THIS IS THEIR FINAL RELEASE IT WOULD BE ENDING THEIR CAREER ON A BAD NOTE. THE DISC WAS A MIXED BAG AT BEST. IT'S ALSO VERY UNFORTUNATE THAT THIS WAS RANDY'S LAST RECORDING EVER. SPECIALLY SINCE HE WAS A 'MONSTER' ON THE DRUMS, AN EQUAL TO TOMMY LEE, BUT WITH A DIFFERENT SPIN ON PLAYING. THIS DID NOT TRANSER ON TO THIS DISC. AND TO THINK THEY USED MIKE CLINK ON THIS RECORD?! EVEN MICK'S PLAYING FALLS SHORT OF HIS PLAYING ON ANY OF THE OTHER RECORDS. FAT VINCE'S PIPES ARE SHOT. 7.5

|Where have all the good times gone? Motley was great, but after feelgood, they just lost their way. It's much better then Swine, but it's just not as good as their first five albums. I hope they are going to make another album and rock like they used to do.
||Date: January 20, 2003 at 15:30|
|i think this was desperate atempt to win back fans,but it was a better record than generation swine, there are good songs here thou!the drumming was awesome
||Date: January 20, 2003 at 22:21|
|Motley got into their time machine and went to 1990(well, except Tommy Lee). Classic Crue, but not their best effort. They get points for abandoning their semi industrial sound, though.
||Date: January 28, 2003 at 3:30|
|Motley Crue: born 1981...died 1991. fast, shout and feelgood are the only good albums the crue made, especially too fast for love and shout. They really lost their way in 1985-86 and post 1992, and it's a shame because I loved this band in the early 80's. Bring back Tommy, he's their most competent musician.....and God bless Randy Castillo!!! RIP
||Date: February 19, 2003 at 19:39|
|Why this album is so much criticized? I can't understand! All tracks are good and it's the same rock'n roll as for the first 4 albums. Hope the band will continue a long long long time with such good albums. 10/10
||Date: March 17, 2003 at 2:05|
|I love this album, and I agree with the you who say that this should have been the follower to Dr.Feelgood. This is old-style Crue, it rocks and is fun. I liked the production, full and warm. If you are a Crue fan, you'll surely love this. Girls! Girls! Girls!
||Date: May 3, 2003 at 3:47|
|El disco sin ser de lo mejor, logra entretener bastante. Temas a la vieja usanza con ritmos y letras alegres. La producción debió quitarle un poco de energía al disco, porque las demos del mismo se escuchaban muchísimo mas potentes.
||Date: May 5, 2003 at 5:58|
|Solid, fun album in the classic Crue style. True, it could've been a bit harder, and you can hear some pop punk influences creeping in. I think High Heels may have been too retro for the lead single.
||Date: July 30, 2003 at 12:20|
|Simply put, this is a good, solid, FUN CD! Heck, they went into the studio and in 8 weeks they had this disc completed. Producer Mike Clink did a excellent job. Is their some lame and cheesy lyrics? Sure. But is their some classic Crue sounding guitars riffs and vocals? You bet! This is a way better release than most of the 80's bands that still actually put out records (Poison-Hollywierd, Scorpions, Dokken..need I say more?)Keep it Crue, do another CD and tour-with or without Tommy Lee.
||Date: August 5, 2003 at 14:52|
|Crue went back to the old formula on this one...and it's a gr8 album in the screwed up world of rap & crappy pop thats thrown at us...n i am only 19 so i was just born when the band was in their prime...i wish i was a teenager in the 80s though!!...anyways,the production lacks a bit on this 1...'hell on high heels','new tattoo','1st band on the moon','punched in the teeth by love','hollywood ending' and 'fake' are my favourites on this one...long live the 80s!!!

||Date: October 6, 2003 at 20:56|
|I like 'HELL ON HIGH HEELS', But I'm still not sure about the rest. But is much better than the self titled album and GENERATION SWINE. A step to the right direction again. The crue that was lost was back again, only to be disbanded. They broke-up after this released, am I right? Because after this released I heard on the news that the crue had broke-up. And I know that Tommy Lee has his solo record.
||Date: January 12, 2004 at 3:08|
|I caught the tour for this CD in 1999 or 2000, I can't remember. I remember being shocked at how fat Vince had become, how he couldn't sing the words, and at times seemed to mumble gibberish. He was totally wasted. Randy Castillo kicked on drums although I secretly longed for Tommy to be behind the kit doing his stick twirls. Sixx was solid as always. The big shocker was hoe FRIGGIN AWESOME Mick Mars had become on guitar. The guy completely sliced down trees with the tone and the axemanship.
||Date: January 13, 2004 at 6:24|
|Mick Mars guitarplay has improved a lot indeed. Just compare his kick ass solo's on this record with the solo's on Shout at the Devil. Although the feeling of this album is'n't as good as the early stuff, the guitars are much better (I love She Needs Rock 'n' Roll)

||Date: January 13, 2004 at 15:28|
|I don't know about the studio stuff, but live, Mick had the biggest most cutting guitar sound I've ever heard. Some notes rattled my rib cage. The guy really impressed me with the level of ability. Ya don't hear this type of playing any more.

|We appear to have a sycophant on the site here masquerading under the name of Marty. With this attitude of 'If your a real fan of a band they can never do any wrong' bullshit, you are letting yourself in for one pile of a crap CD collection. Not accepting when things are substandard is what allows tired old bunches of hasbeens like this lot to continue to produce any old crap and sell it to the likes of you. Wake up and smell the sweaty old socks that were Motley Crue, cos it's time for a change
||Date: February 28, 2004 at 13:26|
|This is by far and away the best post Shout at the Devil cd Motley Crue has released. It is a shame Tommy decided to waste his time with his Methods of Mayhem project instead. My only complaint the cd is that Nikki would waste such a cool guitar riff with such cheesy lyrics like 'First Band on the Moon'. If you like Motley get this cd for it truely is vintage Crue and better than 'Theater,Girls or Dr. Feelgood. However, thats just one mans opinion.

|This ain´t Motley´s best work, but that´s one is much better than that shit called Swine, what was very easy!Not a classical, but a good rememberance for the fans!
||Date: April 15, 2004 at 3:42|
|It's not as good as their classic albums (except Theatre, which sucked except for a few songs), but it's certainly a worthy addition to a Crue collection. Too bad it will probably be the last studio album they ever do, and the tour they did the summer it was released may be the last time we ever see them.
||Date: April 24, 2004 at 18:31|
|Classic Crue album,but is not Dr .Feelgood.
||Date: April 28, 2004 at 14:33|
|FINALLY, the long awaited tribute to the late Hervé Villechaize of Fantasy Island fame, this is funk rock masterpiece swelling with power of full horn section. Vince's powerful exposé of pet food industry 'Treat Me Like The Dog I Am', his beautiful ballad 'Porno Star' dedicated to most of his girfriends and wives, and his experiment with cross-dressing in 'Hell on High Heels' are just some of the many fine compositions on this talent-packed release! If only my dog were still alive to hear this!

||Date: June 27, 2004 at 20:55|
|After trying be current with their last two albums, and turning out a couple great albums in fact, they release this stinker. The style sounds too forced and the songwriting is almost as bad as the mid 80's era. A few good tracks save it from being a mess ('Hell With High Heels', 'Fake', 'Treat Me Like A Dog'). 4/10
||Date: October 12, 2004 at 9:50|
|Geat album from an 80's rockers who still live and producing album in this 2K. I really like the ballads, specially new tattoo. I like it more and more after seeing Crued, Lewd, Tattoed. In memory: Randy Castillo, one greatest drummer world ever had.
||Date: October 19, 2004 at 7:47|
|I cannot understand how people can compare Tommy with Randy Castillo.. Tommy is a good drummer but Randy is just exceptional!God bless him! This is a good album, every crue fan will like it. My fave is still Dr. Feelgood or Vince Neil's Exposed (a truely kickin ass album!)
||Date: December 2, 2004 at 23:45|
|I was expecting much better than this. Much better than Swine, mind you, but not top notch. Sounds too rushed, production quality could've been better. At least they got the hint.

|...And a merry X-mas to you...(Mars still can't play) :-)
||Date: December 24, 2004 at 17:59|
|I actually believe the s/t is a better album than this one, and the best since 'Dr Feelgood', but I'm not sure that counts without Vince. I'll say this is the best Vince-fronted album since 'Dr Feelgood', but then again it's only compared to 'Generation swine'! I think this album is severely lacking and just doesn't sound like they're interested and into the songs here. Very lacklustre release and we ALL know the mighty Crue can do better than this. Decent, but de-spirited. I like Mick's playing
||Date: January 22, 2005 at 4:38|
|If anybody read The Dirt, they'd know where each band member was coming from musically. Sure G.Swine wasn't Crue's best album, but at least the had a shot at trying something different musically. But this album.....! Great return to form fella's. From the first track you had me back. Loved the clip for Hell On High Heels. Here's an idea. ONE MORE ALBUM BEFORE YOU BOW OUT TO SHOW US WHAT YOU CAN TRULY CREATE!!!

|Great album from a great band. I like this a lot. They are back to form with this album. I'm not sure what they were trying to prove with the last few albums but they weren't up to par with their early releases and this one. Anyway they are back on the right track with this. Rock on Crue. I rate this 8.5/10
||Date: September 12, 2005 at 7:52|
|A comeback to their 80's sound with great Results! I ve the cartoon video made 4 Hell on high heels! I'll give this a 9 out of 10 because it lacks the energy provided by Tommy Lee (for God's shake i'm not saying Randy is no good!!!)!
||Date: October 6, 2005 at 4:29|
|Why is everybody giving high marks and overating crap albums by great bands, every album on this site seems to get 9/10. Dont be so generous with marks because it doesnt really give an idea of what the album is really like. This album is ok thats it 3 or 4 good songs no classics you would want them to play any of these songs if you saw them live, Crue could make a good album still but this is MOTLEY CRUD very CRUD infact its pretty crap. their worst album i would have to say crap sound. 4/10
||Date: December 23, 2005 at 0:30|

||Date: April 2, 2007 at 16:30|
|This album showed that Motley don't need Tommy Lee. It is sad that Randy Castillo died after this album, i think the Crue might have made another good album on a par with Dr Feelgood. She Needs Rock and Roll a very good song, more in line with the type of rock music people are listening to.

|HEED MY WARNING if you are like me and are in love with Motley Crue's stuff in the 80s. If you are such a person, the only tracks that you will find relatively enjoyable are: Hell On High Heels, New Tattoo, the White Punks On Dope cover. The ones you just MIGHT like are: Dragstrip Superstar and Hollywood Ending (which is a pretty good tune). People, don't take out the wallet to buy this album if you're expecting the 80s blast from the past comeback. There are some very bad songs on here. 6/10

|Well I'm really going to disagree with zoomanthree here, this is Crue's second worst album after Gen Swine (and I am a huge Crue fan). It has about 3 good songs on it and we will leave it at that. I like the Crue album without Vince better than this one overall. 70/100
||Date: January 10, 2009 at 0:27|
|I agree with zoomanthree. This was the first Crue album I heard and it actually got me into them. The first time I heard Hell On High Heels I was hooked. to be honest, although the earlier 80s Crue albums are great they just don't compare to this one. I remember getting their earlier discography and being slightly disappointed. This is how every 80s style rock band should sound. Almost every song is stand-out from the title track to the ballad New Tattoo to Fake. I just cannot understand the negative comments about this. Even compared to Dr. Feelgood this still wins and is STILL my favourite. This is absolutely their best work. 90/100
||Date: June 6, 2009 at 21:23|
|The first REAL Crue record since Feelgood... hehe. Not bad considering the age of the band; but not the best of thier recent material either. "Hell On High Heels" is the best track. Fun record overall.

||Date: February 6, 2012 at 5:05|
|Randy Castillo's drumming was fine on this disc, nothing to complain about, BUT the mix of the drums was not that good. The drums sound too thin, esp when compared to Tommy's pounding drum sounds of tracks like Bitter pill and Enslaved two years earlier. Also, Nikki Sixx, who was once a solid songwriter, does no longer have the same ability to write a killer song. Yes, some songs of SOLA are strong, as well as If I die tomorrow/Sick love song, but there are also fillers. Generation Swine and New Tattoo are both full of semigood songs and fillers, and both did hurt the band's catalogue quality-wise. One good album (SOLA) and some few new great songs of three compilations (DOD, GH and RWAC) post-Dr. Feelgood is just NOT enough. Mr Sixx is not the song writer he once was. Performance on New Tattoo was fine, but average songs and production ruined it IMO. They tried with this album, but did not succeed. Good for Tommy, who they brought back.
