OK, someone's gotta come out and say something about this record. I bought a Japanese import copy in Paris after searching everywhere for it in the UK with no luck. It's a truly brilliant piece of no-nonsense British rock with some amazing melodies and great guitar licks. If you can get your hands on a copy it's worth the effort.

I must say that I preffer the second record, but this one have killer tunes like "No Surrender" and the awsome adaptation of "Transformers".I must say that Swan's voice is simply magnifique,so powerful, clean and emotive.Doug's guitar is brilliant,f***ing METALLL!!! At the same time the album have this hard rocking bluesy sound.Bass and Drums will simply blow your speakers. If you are an 80's entusiast, sell your mother to buy this record. If you are lucky enougth to find it.

I agree it's an amazing album and Lion should have been huge but I also think that it's Doug that makes this album and not Kal. I have to say that his vocals are very one dimensional and he sings every song with every band he's in the same. From Tytan to Lion to Bad Moon Rising his voice never chnages and there is no variation. He has no soul like Coverdale. I see both sides......great album but the vocals do get tired after repeated plays.

Steve,Steve.I can see clearly that you are a Whitesnake,Coverdale entusiast. But we can't compare both singers. Both are so professional. But different.David ain't no brainchild writting his lyrics. Not like you and me,but somebody could say he is a second Robert Plant, like he said himself.Or that snake is a Deep Purple meets Zeppelin but heavier.Don't know about you ,Swan's voice souds great to me and full of passion JUST LIKE COVERDALE!Good things don't have to be changed!!Best regards Steve!

Here's some bands in the same vain, Joshua (Intense Defense), Vice, Icon (s/t, Night of the Crime), Leatherwolf (s/t 87, Street Ready), Manzano, Pretty Maids (Jump the Gun/Lethal Heroes), Tindrum (Drums of War: female vocalist, one of the most rockin cds I've ever heard), Treat (I recommend any of their cds, but if you want it to sound the most like Lion, go with Organized Crime, track 11, you would swear that it was Lion. I'd paid a high price for this GREAT & AWESOME CD, and it's worth every single dime. Mine is a special Japanese edition with a bonus track Transformers. If you have any chance to come across their 2 albums, GRAB them!!! Too bad Mark Edwards met an accident in 1989 and was seriously injured which caused them to disband. Kal & Doug further pursue their career to form Bad Moon Rising. It's nice to see them not giving up, cos rock never die, never was and never will be... ROCK ON!!!

Interesting how this one being their first release souded most of time pretty much more bluesier than their second effort!Anyway this have some damm hard, power tunes!First,Never Surrender was such a strong riffing and hitting song that also became soundtrack, for Charlie Sheen`s"The Wraith".And of course one of the most interesting ones:The heavy riffing, stomping Transformers, wich was also featured as the same titled cartoon film. This one is simply amazing!

Powerlove was their first single, released on vynil pretty much independent. This one also features a funny red lion face on cover.Another tune that needs to be mentioned is the pomp/powerfull After the fire!Great hooks!Awsome "dropping from scales"guitar solo!!Super band this one!Better than average 80`s rock bands.Toghether they`ve found the chemestry between English classy, quality rock and the energy and groove of american musicians!Being Kal Swan Scottish!10 out of 10

Sad thing to accomplish is that the sort of alchemy this band had,is considered fossilizied to music business today!Due to cancer of music called grunge, that leaded to complete chaos:so called Hip-Hop!Exiting,heavy,melodic,magical guitars,Strong, perfect pitch banshee vocals, stumping drumms, carefull neat production....All I can say is that we went back to a Neanthertal status!!!!!!

Andre Tekken you made a comment about strong banshee vocals which made me think of another kick ass band from that era with killer guitars and outstanding vocals - Banshee with Tommy Lee Flood. You can get their album on Metal Mayhem Music. Excellent site for all the out of print and hard to find stuff we all love so much.

Steve, so Kal is a one dimensional vocalist? Coverdale is one of my favorite singers. His band particulary the Sykes era have an influnce on Lion from a certain stand point. However if your such a true fan of Mr.Coverdale than you can clearly see that he writes very one track minded. As almost all of his songs have the word "love" and he's hurt by a woman or whatever in every damn song and it gets annoying after awhile. but you attak Lion a band that does not really at all resmeble Whitesnake Th

I don't understand all the positive reviews. This is just another run of the mill hard rock album. Doug Aldrich is no doubt an excellent guitarist, but Kal Swan is one of the most boring singers from 80's rock. He just sings flat the entire song. 5/10

Big Papa K-no offense dude, but no fricken way. This album seriously jams. I know several of you prefer singers like Coverdale but to me Coverdale is the epitome of boring(except for the Purple stuff). Either way it's just personal taste but i really dug Kai Swan's vocals esp on "Powerlove" Plus Doug Alrich is one seriously under rated guitarist. His solos and riffs always complement the songs first and foremost.

Pure melodic rock with some stunning axework form Aldrich. This is melodic rock in epic proportions which never seem to realize it's potential to be a huge seller. "Fatal Attraction", "In The Name Of Love" and "Power Love" all have killer hooks which get into your head and just don't leave. Great barnstorming stuff that deserves all the accolades it gets.

This sucker comes roaring from the speakers like a jaguar on steroids and you will instantly realize that you are listening to a full-throttle 80s metal album. We all know how great a guitarist Doug Aldrich is and he unleashes an impressive display of six-string sizzle here, laying down some scorching riffs and badass power chords, backed by huge hooks sharp enough to cut your throat--or ears--with. It's not hard to see why so many hard rock fans are attracted to this album.

I don't get the attacks on Kal's vocals! His style of singing totally suits the mood of this, and the 2nd album's mood and tone. Back when this was released, which was before a lot of the posters time on here, he was one of the best, most recognisable vocalists. Score the album/vocals for the time it was released, NOT when you actually took an interest!
