If you see any errors or omissions in the CD information shown above, either in the musician credits or song listings (cover song credits, live tracks, etc.), please post them in the corrections section of the Heavy Harmonies forum/message board.

The music discographies on this site are works in progress. If you notice that a particular DC Star CD release or compilation is missing from the list above, please submit that CD using the CD submission page. The ultimate goal is to make the discographies here at Heavy Harmonies as complete as possible. Even if it is an obscure greatest-hits or live compilation CD, we want to add it to the site. Please only submit official CD releases; no bootlegs or cassette-only or LP-only releases.

EPs and CD-singles from DC Star are also welcome to be added, as long as they are at least 4 songs in length.

* Can't believe I'm the first to respond on this band. This release here is basically a re-release (on a larger label) of thier previous album. This particular release is not a bad effort. But if you can ever get a copy of the first release GET IT. It never came out on CD. There were limited copys of a five song, picture disc released. The song "Is It You" is GREAT. A band that never got their day in the sun, what ashame. I can get CDRs of both.. Leave email here if interested..KILLER Dave

Wow...I cannot tell you how long I have looked for this cd. It is criminal that 'Is It You' isn't on it. I have the picture disc mentioned above, and can vouch for what a COOL song it is!! Are we sure that this isn't a misprint, and "is it you" is truly not on the disc?

Hey Dave, I'd love a cdr of the first one. "Don't Call Me Punk"! pslis@wavecrest.net

Hey Pete.. "Is It You" isn't on the above release. The first version of above release was called "Livin' In A Rock'N Roll Whirl".. and contains a song of the same name. This was a great bar band, very high energy. I believe they did open a few arena show for Loverboy, but they never really caught on for some reason. The guitar(Jeff) went on to play with the best (in my opinion) classic rock cover band on the east coast...Great Train Robbery. I believe that there is a copy of thier picture disc h

THE BAND DC STARS STARTED OUT IN SOUTHERN MD. AND I WAS A GREAT FAN. I HAVE THREE ALBUMS THAT THEY RECORDED AND SEVERAL POSTERS. THEY WERE A GREAT BAND AND THE SOUTHERN MARYLAND FANS LOVED THEM. THEY PLAYED BACKUP FOR JOURNEY AT THE CAPITAL CENTER, AND DC STAR FANS WENT WILD. THEY WERE GREAT GUYS AND SHOULD HAVE GONE ALL THE WAY.

Holy Smokes!!! I can't believe this is finally on CD although as most have stated some of their best songs were on the Whirl and the pictures disc album. DC Star also used to come up and play the Norhtern NJ/NY area club scene. When I saw them doing Pat Travers Heat in The Street, I was hooked. I followed them every where and became their #1 Jersey fan. If anyone knows the guys in the band tell them Jersey Frank says Hi. Recently Guitarist Jeff Avery is featured on a CD by Carl Hupp. Henry Farme

Demise of DC Star was the fact that Motley Crue released Theater Of Pain which featured their version of the Brownsville Station hit, Smokin In The Boys Room on June 21, 1985 about 2 weeks before DC Star came out with their slightly altered version Rockin in The Classroom. I remember Dave being totally bummed out when I saw him at a club called Gemini's in Yorktown Heights NY.

This guys could rock it. I was fortunate to grow up just down the street from Dave Simmons. Use to hang out in the basement while they jammed. As others have said the the Motley Crew release hurt their chances to make it big. They originally went by the name Starz, but another act also had that name and got a national recording deal first. I would welcome a copy of any or all the releases. I think I can still manage to get in touch with Dave Simmons, I last talked to him in 2000. When I ran in to him at a reunion. So I will try that as well.
