From: David Date: May 25, 2001 at 19:05
Great album, Tesla's best song is changes!

From: Mike G. Date: June 27, 2001 at 13:46
This album changed the face of hard rock/metal music forever!!! No one rocks like Tesla!! If we had a rock n roll war, I would want Tesla to be on my side!!! Tesla is one of the BADDEST hardrock bands, EVER!!! If you don't have this, SHAME ON YOU, GO GET IT....TODAY!!!!!!!!!!!

From: joe Date: December 14, 2001 at 1:22
Oh dear the album that got me hooked on rock music. I've listened it to death but Ez come ez go, getting better, were no good together, modern day cowboy still sound fresh, classic album.

From: jason Date: May 4, 2002 at 22:52
It's hard to believe that this is their 1st album. It sound like they have been making records for 10 years before this one. Outstanding work and a must have for any one...and I mean....ANY ONE who is a rock n roll fan!!

From: Desslar Date: May 5, 2002 at 2:41
Fantastic album and their best. Poppy or heavy it's all good.

From: curt Date: May 5, 2002 at 17:37
This is an awesome album from Tesla. Their producer said when they started he wanted to put the album of the year out and he did. This cd when you go back and listen to it 16 years later is still smokin! The guitars, vocals, drums, bass, and everything else was over the edge top rock for 86. This is a must for anyone who likes rockin guitars and scratchy vocals. If you don't have it buy it because you won't regret it.

From: Metalhead Date: May 18, 2002 at 5:28
What an unbelievable album this is. I got this after I got Great Radio Controversy. I thought they can never top that one but this one just smokes! I read somewhere that Hannon played most of the solos here. He's just an awesome guitarist. Skeoch too! I think they have very few equals when it comes to double guitar playing.

From: jason Date: May 18, 2002 at 12:11
Metalhead, The more you listen to Frank & Tommy the more you begin to understand how easy this band could one day be in the R&R hall of fame. Like I have said. The only thing that is holding them back is the rest of the late 80's hair bands. Tesla has a quality far above most bands on this site.

From: Metalhead Date: May 31, 2002 at 23:07
jason, after fucking with my inquiries with a Dokken album, now you're agreeing with my comments here? It only took Tesla for you and I to agree with something.

From: jason Date: June 1, 2002 at 1:18
Hey Metalhead! You can't blame me for setting you strait on Dokken (their are crap!). You and I both know that Tesla is a band far and above Dokken. AND YES!....We can agree on some stuff.

From: Hbomb Date: June 4, 2002 at 11:18
I can still recall hearing 'Modern Day Cowboy' for the first time...magic, quite simply. As into hard rock/metal (whatever, labels are essentially worthless) as I was, I couldn't help but sense that there was something different showing up - it wasn't Ratt or Crue or Bon Jovi. Nothing against those bands, I loved them all - but Tesla grabbed my attention and haven't ever let go, even during the band's breakup/hiatus. This album is IMO, a classic. Get it NOW!

From: RichieRocker Date: June 22, 2002 at 20:48
Straight forward kick ass rock music. Tesla knows how too kick ass and rock.

From: jason (FA - Q) Date: June 23, 2002 at 2:36
Is that all you got to say about them Richie?...... Come on, these guys have reason to be proud. What makes this band so outstanding is the fact that they have the musicianship to play all styles of music. They aren't going to just give you something simple and say it with love. They give you what it is you need and the cool thing is, you never even knew you needed it!

From: RichieRocker Date: June 23, 2002 at 7:02
Unbelievable band! Great live show with great dual guitars and the guitars are very clean sounding. This was a ground breaking effort by these guys, the guitar action is so awesome that it makes you a fan instantly! They can play fast and they can write a great ballad as well. 'Modern day cowboy' Gettin Better, Little Suzy' are some of my favs. Every song is awesome. Buy it, its worth it. Do you like this entry better Jason. Also I met Jeff Keith after the show and he was really cool.

From: jason (FA - Q) Date: July 7, 2002 at 21:02
RichieRocker: I knew you had it in ya! AND Richie is right! So many things have been said about this band and it's all been good. You can't really rip these guys, unless you are trying to be a jerk-off. Bottom line, great rock n roll by a great rock n roll band!

From: Large1 Date: July 26, 2002 at 9:06
Listened to this the other day and still sounds as good in 2002 as it did in '86. This album is a must for any serious Rock fans' collection. Perhaps the BEST Rock 'n' Roll album of ALL time.

From: Andre Tekken Date: August 5, 2002 at 10:52
Great guitar partnership!Well recognized by 'Guitar Player'magazine by the time the record went out!I coutiously would risk to say that they are an american version of early Def Leppard!Good band, neat guitars,at same time very rock n' roll!Razor cut like vocals and solid, good sounding drums!Metallic, sometimes bluesy solos!Interesting is that they have such loyal fans.It didn't sounded, looked like an 1986 band!85/10

From: jason (FA - Q) Date: August 5, 2002 at 17:20
Well said Andre!........ They are the best group of their time and they are still a great act to see on tour. Hopefully a new album does come out by Tesla. They said that they were working on it or going to be working on it? I can't wait!

From: RichieRocker Date: August 5, 2002 at 17:39
Jason, when I saw Tesla a few months back they said they were doing a new album and they played 2 new songs off the new album. They sounded pretty good.

From: jason (FA - Q) Date: August 5, 2002 at 17:50
That's really good to hear! I just hope that it all falls into place and gets released. They are a great band and I would love to hear some new stuff. I don't want anything to happen like Buckcherry. They got half way done with their 3rd album and then shit hit the fan. I know Tesla is totally different but, anything can happen.

From: Baris Date: September 11, 2002 at 6:21
What a great start from TESLA. If Nicola Tesla could have listened to this album, even he would have been a great fan of them.

From: The Fizzy One Date: September 15, 2002 at 16:17
This is actually the last Tesla album I got around to buying, and damn, am I ever glad I did. While if I was forced to choose, I'd probably take Great Radio Controversy (just because I had that one since it came out), this is still a hell of an album, from a band that never released a bad album, and only a few not-so-stellar songs throughout their career. A HELL of a debut! My favorites are tracks 2, 3, 5, 6,, 9 and 10. elfizzbo@hotmail.com

From: J Scott Date: October 19, 2002 at 18:34
One of the best hard rock albums of all time, not a bad song anywhere here. nor on anu of their other CD's. These guys started the Acoustic scene with 'Five Man Acoustical Jam' and then everyone had to have an acoustic ablum. Tesla is the coolest, nuff said.

From: RichieRocker Date: November 5, 2002 at 21:47
Wow!!!!!!!! The solos, the rhythm guitar, Jeff's vocals, this album has all the ingriedients of a kick ass album. This is definatly a must have!!!!

From: Metal_Ed Date: December 28, 2002 at 6:06
Definately their best!!! Listening to this Cd really brings back memories for me as a teen!! A must have!!!!

From: RichieRocker Date: December 28, 2002 at 17:41
Metal Ed I concur with your latest prognostication in regards to Mechanical Resonance. A must have for any 80s rock enthusiast. Vigourosly procure the recorded matter commonly known as CD at any costs.

From: Great Dane Date: February 1, 2003 at 23:16
Goddamn I had almost forgotten all about this cd. I have all Tesla´s releases, and theyre all good I think, But listening to this one, really gives me a 'flashback' to the 80's. This cd is one of the finest releases within' that genre. Damn its good. Ez Come, Cumin' atcha Live, are two of the best rock tracks ever released I think.

From: Rocker65 Date: March 22, 2003 at 20:00
Man!! TESLA is one of the best HARD ROCK groups! Even if they were marked as one of the best hard rock groups they will be underrated...

From: jason (FA - Q) Date: March 22, 2003 at 20:56
I couldn't agree more!

From: steve Date: May 7, 2003 at 17:07
modern day cowboy, little suzy,EZ come EZ go, are great good solid cd

From: Beau Date: May 11, 2003 at 6:29
Somebody send me an e-mail and tell me where I can find guitar credits for Tesla's work. My friend and I are arguing over which guitar player was more bluesy and which guitar player was more chops oriented. beau@ipz.net

From: James Date: May 11, 2003 at 14:25
check out the band MOON DOG MANE, I think you will find out who is the more bluesy player.

From: The Fizzy One` Date: May 12, 2003 at 23:41
Or better yet, check out Bar 7 and see how much they needed Frank instead of Tommy. I used to have this debate all the time with somebody I knew. She favored Tommy, because he was cute. Frank is clearly the more versatile player.

From: freddy de keyze Date: June 1, 2003 at 8:25
Great hardrock from this fine band. Their debut and their best. Hope we see 'em back in 2003 with another fine real hardrock CD. We miss 'em now !

From: Rocker76 Date: October 14, 2003 at 17:34
Killer 1st album from a killer hard rock band!! So many good songs to choose from. The 2 that jump out at me are Modern Day Cowboy (of course!) and Before My Eyes (great ballad). This was the groundwork for a killer career that saw them totally kick the crap out of the rest of the 80s-born rock bands. Hopefully, they'll return to keep on rockin' the world....

From: AOR freaky Date: December 4, 2003 at 4:36
Indeed, killer hard rock from a killer hardrock band ! I still think this, their debut, is their best effort. It still sounds fresh ! And now we're all looking forward to 2004, where we can expect a new record from these talented guys !

From: M-ONE Date: December 10, 2003 at 16:02
Because of bands like this one was why the 80's rock went down hill the worst band ever, wrong category they should have been a country band, and the song are to fucking long I can't stand it...........

From: John Date: December 10, 2003 at 17:53
Interesting take M-ONE. Especially since Tesla's reuniting was one of the most successful hard rock tours of 2000. Just say you don't like Tesla and move on. No need editorialize. BTW, 'Mechanical Resonance' is right up there with 'Appetite' in the 'greatest debut ever' category j@ack@ss. 10/10. JK

From: byrdman69 Date: December 23, 2003 at 13:14
The reality is ,this band was good, but got the same raw deal many other 'GOOD' rock bands got back in the 80's. Put in the category of so called 'hair bands', so much good music got stuck in a rut. I really like this band, and their music, and no doubt, they were solid. I guess the the only thing we can do , as fans....is keep sites like this alive, and keep hitting those small venue shows, when we are lucky enough to have them. Good band, good release.......ROCK ON!!!!!!!!!!!

From: AOR freaky Date: January 19, 2004 at 8:16
This is a great hardrock album and a damn fine band ! But BE WARNED ! Their new CD, soon out on Sanctuary records, is a totally different affair ! You even don't recognize the Tesla we all love and praise. The soundclips and few songs I've already heard from their new CD are AWFULL ! BORING, very modern stuff, with a lot of nu-metal influences (hear that 'voice') ! No, gone is the classic Tesla, what we have is another nu-metal act à la Creed, Nickelback, Korn etc. Sad but true !

From: crathopper Date: January 19, 2004 at 11:11
Settle down, freaky. Korn? Please. Heard the same clips and songs that you have and couldn't make that comparison if you paid me. Has some modern influences but it's all Tesla.

From: Dean Date: January 19, 2004 at 12:48
Hey freaky freddy? The new Tesla sounds like Creed? You either need more drugs or less. Whatever dosage you're on now is NOT working. The clips and the one full song that's in the members area of Melodic rock.com are vintage Tesla.

From: AOR freaky Date: January 20, 2004 at 10:49
Crathopper and Dean : listen again, I don't think this sound the same ! Tesla has a new sound, and I find it a shame ! I have listened again, and, not the same classic hardrock sound as on this one. There's a lot of 'distortion' on Jeff's vocals ! They try to sound modern ! Korn is maybe a bit too silly, but Nickelback, Creed and co are in the same league !

From: Paul Date: March 16, 2004 at 13:56
Tesla has got to be the coolest smart-rock band around. The references to physics in rock songs is just too cool. Also, having heard the new album last night, I must say I like it. Jeff's voice hasn't changed a bit, and there is still the trademarked Tesla sound (albeit modernized with lower notes from a 5-string bass, etc). -Paul

From: Mike Date: March 29, 2004 at 23:24
Tesla is one of the greatest bands! Cumin' Atcha Live - Best song in the world especially the guitar part!

From: pozermaniac Date: April 26, 2004 at 9:38
Tesla is the Greatest American Hard Rock Band of all times. They are not a hair band like Winger,Warrant,Rat e.t.c. they are something special.5 musicians with a lot of talent, they can play all the kinds of music. This album fucked up my brain & changed my life forever. Its so sad that i cant see them live here in Greece but IM CAUGHT UP IN A DREAM my friends.Tesla maniacs email me to metaldreamer23@yahoo.gr.

From: charvel man Date: May 13, 2004 at 17:53
This is the one that started it all! The opening drums of ez come ez go get me every time. This album has a real natural sound that's awesome. 2 late for love rock me to the top, are killer tracks. As is modern day cowboy. It's incredible when you consider how green they were at the time they recorded it. Love the band so much I made a t-shirt of the liner pic. Jeff Keith is a real soulful singer right there with Kelly hansen from Hurricane.Could not recomend it more!

From: jack Date: May 21, 2004 at 2:17
I've never really listened to tesla music much and i would appreciate it if anyone would give me more info on this album. Is it more similar to cinderella'snight songs or g'n'r's appetite or defleppard's hysteria or dokken's under lock and key or ratt's dancing under cover or wasp's last command or europe's final countdown or bon jovi's slippery when wet(i hope not!)or poison's look what..or motley crue's girls..or white lion's pride or ac/dc's blow up your video or aerosmith's pump or..

From: jack Date: May 21, 2004 at 2:23
whitesnake's 1987 or van halen's 5150 or scorpion's savage amusement or twisted sister's stay hungry or quiet riot's metal health or faster pussycat's faster pussycat etc..I know i've been too 'boring' saying those long list of bands and album but i hope every tesla fans can give me their best reply...PLEEAAASEEE HEEELLLPPP..THANKS!

From: Rocker76 Date: May 21, 2004 at 12:15
Hey Jack! Tesla doesn't really remind me of any of the ones you listed. To me, they had the relevant 80s metal sound combined with a classic sound of the 1970s rock bands. Does that make sense? They weren't as straight-up hair metal as Ratt or Dokken, not as heavy as AC/DC, and not as polished as Def Leppard. But they had the melody, the power, the musical ability, and the solid song-writing of most of the ones you mention. If you're into 80s metal you'll dig Tesla for sure.

From: jack Date: May 24, 2004 at 5:26
That sounds a bit like scorpion to me.Thanks for the info,Rocker76!I promise i'll stop asking question and buy it as quick as possible. Got to get some of those electric now...

From: jack Date: May 25, 2004 at 3:15
A totally kick ass album! Its almost as good as metal health and appetite for destruction!Really does have the scorpion feel in it except more heavier,in cinderella's level! Track 1,5 and 12 in my opinion is the best while cover queen is a bit 'below par' but good too. I agree with Rocker76,they are not straight up hair metal but i don't think ratt and dokken are either.Hanoi rocks, faster pussycat and poison are!Rating:9/10

From: jack Date: May 26, 2004 at 0:51
And i think this is the coolest and best cover of all tesla's album!

From: Rocker76 Date: May 26, 2004 at 13:00
Rock on Jack! Don't stop now! The next two albums rock just as hard and contain some of their best material. 'Great Radio Controversy' may be their most consistent album and 'Psychotic Supper' is worth having if only for 2 songs (Song & Emotion and Freedom Slaves). Both albums are solid rockin' efforts and continue the classic Tesla sound and style. Highly recommended if you like the debut. (p.s. Bust a Nut is decent but nowhere near the 1st three albums). Peace...

From: jack Date: May 28, 2004 at 2:45
Thanks Rocker76,you rock,man!

From: Geoff Date: August 29, 2004 at 23:29
I think we all already know it, but this is a great hard rock CD. Brilliantly played and probably the best sounding album of 1986 musically. The songs are great too, especially 'Modern day cowboy'. Killer CD from a genius band.

From: Monang Date: September 17, 2004 at 2:07
Tesla is never die

From: Propane Date: December 1, 2004 at 17:19
If you don't like this you don't like rock. At a time when lousy dime-a-dozen bands were getting one hit wonder contracts these guys stripped it down to the bare bones and strutted their stuff righteously. What a refreshingly great album this was.

From: Joan Date: January 5, 2005 at 14:24
Cumin atcha live!...joder que buenos son esta gente. Las guitarras quitan el hipo, y el cantante otro que tal. Para mi el mejor disco de Tesla.

From: danoq Date: September 13, 2005 at 1:10
Telsa ranks up at the top with the best of the best. This record is just the start of a legacy that will be with us FOREVER!!!!!!

From: Remastered Reason Date: February 13, 2006 at 14:59
A great album from a band that knows how to play technically & yet still deliver a hook. A winning combo in my book which made Tesla the cream of the crop from groups out of the 80's.

From: Welsh Dragon Date: March 18, 2006 at 18:31
If you have worked your way this far down the page and are still undecided, there really is no hope for you. You really need to go out and buy this now. Saw this band in 87 or 88 in Manchester supporting Def Leppard. Bought the T-shirt, bought the record and never looked back. What a band!! The first vinyl I replaced onto CD. 10/10

From: JF Date: April 18, 2006 at 21:11
Gran grupo, que disco se marcaron en esa epoca .Modern Day Cowboy todo un clasico del hard rock. Little Suzi otra gran cancion. En general uno de los mejores discos de hard rock de esa epoca

From: headbanger4life Date: May 30, 2006 at 5:11
Next to Def Leppard, these guys are one of my favorite bands. This is where it all started for them. Everything about this album is classic. Two excellent guitarists, a groovin' rhythm and percussionist and an original sounding vocalist. I don't think I can pick a favorite off this album because I love the entire thing.

From: Dreamaholic Date: April 29, 2007 at 4:19
One of the best CDs of all time and in my top 10. I remember buying this the day it came out at my airbase in Korea in 86. My buddy Tomcat was with me when we popped it in the CD player. As the CD played, our eyes bugged out wider and wider. After it was over I listened to it again - I couldn't believe it was so good. If you haven't heard this, you must live under a rock. Crawl out and get it. Tomcat ol' buddy, those were good times. Hope you're doin' well (from your pal Wolfpup).

From: Rambo Rockerman Date: January 20, 2008 at 10:14

One two three four! ** I can't believe this fucked up world in which we're livin' in ** Still I do the best that I can ** Always got me on the lookout for a getaway ** Runnin' hard, I'm a rock 'n' roll man ** too late, oh yeah... (then) 1 of the most criminal killer magic immortal awesome 'From another world' (solos) in this rotten world.

From: Doghouse Reilly Date: January 16, 2009 at 15:51
This sounds like a young band, full of piss and vinegar and ideas, but maybe not quite adept enough to pull them all off. Even so, an astounding three-quarters of the album is made up of Tesla essentials. From the start, and even in their early days, Tesla were capable of more styles and textures than most of their peers. 'Modern Day Cowboy' and 'Little Suzi' get the most attention, as well as the sunny optimism of 'Gettin' Better' and the crowd-pleasing 'Cumin' Atcha Live,' but my favorites have always been the cheery and insanely catchy 'Love Me' and the mounrful 'We're No Good Together.' I used to not really like the moody 'Changes,' but now that I' a little older myself and can relate more to the lyrics, I've grown to appreciate it. 'Before My Eyes' and especially 'Cover Queen' have never really done it for me, though.

From: edwithmj Date: February 28, 2009 at 18:59
I just cannot understand the fascination with Tesla. Great Radio Controversy was an OK album with a few highlights but this is extremely dull and I know they're considered one of the best but this is so boring. Every song sounds the same with the same speed solos again and again. Jeff keith is a Steven Tyler rip off. I managed to get to the end of this once before I got sick of Keith's voice. Avoid. 60/100 because at least the instrumental expertise is there but as Brad Gillis says, it doesn't matter if you're the best player on Earth if you don't write good songs.

From: hair metal again Date: June 4, 2009 at 1:27
an all time classic!a real explosion of strong riffs, unbelievable solos and the rough voice of keith.this one was a sign of the great hair metalera of 1987-1992.every song is a gem and it has its unique style.i remember when i bought that back then in my country everybody listened to that metallica and iron maiden crap.thanks again tesla for what you did for me back then.see ya live in london for the forever more tour!

From: rockhardrock Date: April 16, 2011 at 5:57

Great, great, great! This is the best Tesla álbum!
