The band in their prime. Pretty good. At the time of it's release the whole 'Unplugged' thing was just in it's infancy, so this was fresh. Great acoustic versions of the fan faves as, well as, some faves of the band. This is a must have for any fan of the band. 8.5 on the SWINE SCALE

Cool album show where Tesla are coming from, got to get this one if your a Tesla fan and should have a wider appeal.

From: jason Date: May 4, 2002 at 23:19
Yep, they can play live. A great showcase of musical talent. These guys can play and have a great time too. If you get this CD, you will play it more than once. No question about it.

Tesla has 2 new live albums out. The double live album is Tesla: Replugged LIVE. It came out in 2001. The other is just one live CD and it just came out this year (2002). The unplugged is really good, but it's great to hear those electric guitars live as well! Frank Hannon is one of the BEST!! It's hard to believe anyone can think that there might be another 80's band any better! NO LIPSTICK HERE, JUST TALENT!!!

In those times it was a big think for a hard-rock band to make a totally acustic album. And I think only a great band like TESLA can think such big...

Jason, what R U talking about - 2 Live albums 2001 and 2002?

From: jason (FA - Q) Date: September 14, 2002 at 16:28
Denny, I think that I pretty much explained it. What aren't you getting? Tesla put out a double live album in 2001 and then put out another live album in 2002. I've got them, don't you?

From: The Fizzy One Date: September 15, 2002 at 16:31
Jason, is the single-disc just a compilation of stuff from the double, or is it totally different? I've never heard of it. As for FMAJ, possibly one of the best live albums EVER, right up there with the ones by Kix, Iced Earth and Jackyl. My girlfriend had the video for this one, and certain band members were drunk off their asses. Not that you can't gather that from the album though. One of the few live albums that make you feel like you were actually there. The singalong part in 'Love Song' st

Sorry, ran out of room. As I was saying, the singalong part in 'Love Song' brings a lump to my throat even to this day. elfizzbo@hotmail.com

Tesla's version of 'Signs' has got to be one of the greatest cover songs any band has ever done. Totally blows away the original. This album gained the band a lot of respect. The idea of a hard rock band doing an all acoustic set was unheard of at the time. Just look at all the other bands that followed. This album is a classic. Tesla proved that good hard rock doesn't need to rely on cliches or gimmicks. By the way, I believe the new single live disc from Tesla is just a compilation of the doub

double.

From: FM Date: May 11, 2003 at 1:44
Well, actually this record was _the_ record that started the whole 'Unplugged' thing. MTV managers clearly said they decided to put up the 'Unplugged' program after seeing the huge success had by Tesla's 'FMAJ'. BTW, this record rules. If you close your eyes, it's like being in front of the stage, you can feel the atmosphere of that night. Some acoustic revisitations are very cool, too. For example 'Cumin'Atcha Live', 'Before My Eyes' or 'Paradise'. Lots of fun and emotion in this record!

This still is one of the best CD's I would take this with me if i was going to be stranded on a deserted island. Haven't heard a better live album in the last 10 years that has come close.

From: Paulo-Fernandes Date: May 19, 2003 at 0:33
Agreed - live albums dont get much better than this - the sound, the atmosphere, the songs, hehe - excellent

From: fernando-spain Date: June 5, 2003 at 16:55
very original album at that time (it was one of the first album played unplugged) , with a lot of feeling.if you like real rock you should have this one, it is one of my favourite albums although i donīt like the band, anyway this album is great and fresh, salutes from spain.by the way why all the 'music' bands play is so FUCKING BAD?i keep on listening my old cdīs (i guess the same as you)

From: John Date: April 15, 2004 at 3:59
The best live album of the era, from one of the greatest bands of the '80s. If you don't have it, do yourself a favor and get it.

From: jack Date: July 20, 2004 at 1:42
Whats this stuff about tesla being a hair metal band or pop metal band ?Whether they are a hair band or not, they still rock and produce decent album nowadays.

From: Propane Date: December 1, 2004 at 17:23
Un-plugged crap was what MTV pressured these kind of bands into doing. I have always hated un-plugged trash but I gave Tesla a break anyway (don't let it happen again).

From: danoq Date: September 13, 2005 at 1:14
This just shows how great these guys really are. They were one of the first that started the unplugged trend. Not a band record in the bunch from these legends. Alot of bands will fade but these guys will likely be around forever.

From: XabDeth Date: January 19, 2007 at 10:56
son tremendos, hasta hicieron el primer unplugged, que luego copiaria la mierda de mtv(ahora)....tocadas sin electricidad pero llenas de energia, muy buen disco.....

From: Rambo Rockerman Date: January 20, 2008 at 10:17
I'm not into unplugged, but Tesla showed how to do it.

From: Doghouse Reilly Date: January 16, 2009 at 16:27
This CD just has such a fun, informal, almost improvised quality to it, although I'm sure it was well-rehearsed). The band played five acoustic shows, three of which were recorded, and the Philly date ended up being the album. (You can find a bootleg of the Detroit show as well, but I think Philly is a little better). They play some of their own tunes, and a few surprise covers. 'Cumin' Atcha Live' and 'Before My Eyes' get reworked with cool results, but I've never liked 'Modern Day Cowboy' unplugged. Plenty of magic elsewhere, including a spine-tingling crowd singalong on 'Love Song.' The only bad thing about this album is that the band now thinks people want to hear lots more covers and acoustic stuff from them, and 'Signs' has just lost all of its casual, tossed-off appeal now that they insist on playing it at every gig. That one needs to be retired, I don't care if it was a hit.

iremember it was the first time a band really tried this.i think this is an effective attempt by hair metal giants tesla.music from the heart never dies.i m never bored of the 'love song'.it still sounds so real and fresh.thanks again tesla
