the best

From: mary jo Date: August 7, 2001 at 21:44
I think this tape and the band kick ass. I love everything they do. I saw every show they do in Pittsburgh,PA, and they all rocked. I love them, there will never be anyone greater than Poison. I have every record they ever made and they have never made a song that didn't kick ass. I hope to see more of Poison for a very long time yet,(ecspecially in Pittsburgh,PA.) I love you guys more than everything and always will.

From: LSN Date: August 15, 2001 at 8:29
Even when Poison looked like transvestites as they did during the period of this album they could still rock. Songs like 'Talk dirty to me', and the title song of the album shows that they had great potensial, something the second album 'Open up..' prooved to the fullest.

From: Glam-Blood Guy Date: August 21, 2001 at 23:38
What's the problem if they looked like transvestites? Would you like they looked like bad guys: unshaved, no great clothes, no lipstik? Where's your poser spirit? Women like that! All posers like that!

From: Rob Date: October 10, 2001 at 11:12
I don't care if it's glam metal. I like it.

From: James Date: February 16, 2002 at 6:25
Why does the first album always seem to be the best? That is what happened to Poison but the rest of the albums are also great. I can't get enough of this album. It is raw and real.

From: HG Date: February 16, 2002 at 20:48
I can't believe people still give me that look when I tell them I like Poison. These guys wrote about what they knew, chasing girls and trying to make it as a rock band. Whenever someone sticks to what they know, the results are usually good. It beats the hell out of some multi-platinum grunge band singing about how no one likes them.

From: Lullä Milanese Date: February 25, 2002 at 14:59
Look What The Cat Dragged In is amazing... it's 100 0lam. If we could translate glam to just one word it would be: POISON.

From: GIORGOS Date: March 8, 2002 at 11:49
Poison are certainly one of the 80s' trademarks but I was expecting this album to be kinda more memorable. No catchy songs, except maybe 'I want Action'.

From: dokken6008 Date: March 11, 2002 at 7:20
'Look What The Cat Dragged In' is an absolute essential to any serious fan/collector of 80's glam rock. These guys wrote and sang about girls, sex and cars.....all that's wonderful in life! Rockett's drumkit can be a bit annoying at times, Dall's bass is a bit too low and Michaels' voice is not that impressive---but hey, it's all good, right? C.C. is the highlight of this record (as he is with all of Poison's albums) and his guitar-playing kicks total ass--anywhere! Buy this record.

From: CHIRO Date: April 17, 2002 at 2:18
IT IS A GREAT ALBUM!!!BUT NOT THEIR BEST ONE

From: Desslar Date: April 18, 2002 at 2:28
Good pop metal album. Silly at times but always fun.

From: Motley Date: May 14, 2002 at 12:27
Fuckin superb glam record. This is what glam is all about. Th eiamge and production is totally great and I love Cry tough!!!!!

From: dokken6008 Date: May 18, 2002 at 19:50
For those that are unaware, 'Cry Tough' FLOPPED as a single. It was 'Talk Dirty To Me' that saved Poison's asses from termination from their record label, and boy did it hit big.

From: richierocker Date: May 26, 2002 at 21:24
Awesome glam album, definatly one of the best ever. I wish they still made music like this. Album is a 9/10. I cant wait to see them this summer!

From: dokken6008 Date: May 29, 2002 at 3:53
Bullshit. I love Poison but this cd is chalk-full of filler. Maybe the filler on this one may be some of the better you have heard but this cd was a good start for the band and not much more. The cd was completed in two weeks and Poison has released much more solid albums since their debut. I have heard much better first-album glam rocker cds than this one, including Hericane Alice's 'Tear The House Down'. There's no difference between the early 90's rock and the late 80's glam--it's all good.

From: Cotton C. Lover Date: June 20, 2002 at 4:30
Very raw sound. Personal favorite song is 'want some, need some'. Also, I'll argue with anyone about 'Talk Dirty to Me'.....it's a combination punk/surf song (funny, the critics like both of those styles). Great tune, perfect combination of hooks. Mama Let Me Go To the Show is a total throw away, though.

From: RichieRocker Date: June 30, 2002 at 11:25
This Glam classic is easily my favorite Poison album. Im Going to see them Tuesday in New Hampshire, and Wednesday in Massachusetts. I really hope they dont promote Hollyweird, I hope they play a ton of old stuff. Every year I see them they always play new tunes that are not that good, I hope they just stick to the basics and kick ass as usual.

From: RichieRocker Date: July 4, 2002 at 8:52
I just came back from both shows in New Hampshire and Massachusetts, and it was a blast. Poison really appreciates there fans man! they cant stop saying how great the fans are and how loyal they are.

From: Rick Rock Date: July 22, 2002 at 18:32
Oh man! What a triumph, have I yet to see another band smack the back of sleaze like poison. Only Spread Eagle have touched the drenched twat of glam so well. And Brett Michaels is more than just a man whore he is a lip pucker upper!

From: jason (FA - Q) Date: July 22, 2002 at 20:00
Well, Rick Rock! I have to say that I feel that Faster Pussycat had 'sleaze' down better than just about any other band. If you were to put Poison's debut album up against Faster Pussycat's debut album for 'BEST SLEAZE ALBUM AWARD', Faster Pussycat would win HANDS DOWN!!!! Just ask anyone here.............

From: vicflame Date: July 24, 2002 at 3:37
Glam RULES !!! Lipstick, make-up, cool clothes, spandex and leather, and here we go !!! This album is THE BOMB !!! ABSOLUTELY MARVELLOUS !!! A lot of wonderful catchy songs, really... GET THIS ALBUM, YOU WON'T REGRET IT (except maybe if you're into death-grindcore or rap metal or 'nu' metal)! Long live Poison !!!

From: Rockforever Date: July 24, 2002 at 13:15
No vicflame, you don't have to be into grindcore or death metal to realise that this album is a pile of fucking crap.Mind-numbing, brainless bollocks. I detest nu-metal and all that, but one has to realise that Poison do encapsulate all that was wrong with hair-metal. I agree its cool to sing about cars and girls, but I think you need MUSICAL TALENT

From: Rockforever Date: July 24, 2002 at 13:20
And Poison didn't have it. Bret Michaels had the archetypal glam-metal 'squealing' voice,CC DeVille tried to be Eddie Van Halen (without realising he had none of the power or inventiveness of Eddie),while the rhythm section was basic. I Want Action is perhaps the worst single of the hair metal era. If you want quality hard rock that talks about girls and sex, listen to Van Halen,Aerosmith,AC/DC,Tesla,Motley Crue,Whitesnake, even Dokken or Great White, but not this. Poison, and their partner in crim

From: Rockforever Date: July 24, 2002 at 13:21
Warrant, were responsible for giving 80s rock a bad name. Avoid this album and buy decent rock instead.

From: Rockforever Date: July 24, 2002 at 13:25
I should just say, that is a rant from a serious musical perspective. If you want guitar-based party music to get wasted to, this is a great choice.

From: rocknutter2001 Date: August 15, 2002 at 8:28
this album is a great start to poisons career why a lot of people call it crap and cheesey i dont know to me this sounds like what rock n roll is all about and that is not giving a fuck and enjoying yourself so i say buy this cd and just enjoy it great party album

From: Baris Date: September 13, 2002 at 2:28
A good starting glam album. But the one of Faster Pussycat was better. This is a bit simpler than FP. While listening today it comes more and more simpler than ever. Nonetheless it can be said that songs such as 'Look What ...' and 'Talk Dirty To Me' saved the album. Recently I heard that CC Deville named 'Talk Dirty To Me' a garage-punk classic and his best song in his life. Huh, too bold statement!..

From: purrfect-kat Date: September 13, 2002 at 4:11
HEY sweetheart . . .don't jump in the front . . . . Jump in the back . . . lol . . . . . This is the style of music that makes me come back for more. . . . . I hope Poison goes back to the style they use to play.

From: Pollo Salah Date: October 16, 2002 at 17:32
Great album !!!, this is real glam, i don't care if they look like cheap whores, songs like cry tough makes you forget their looks. Greetings from CHILE to all GLAM fans,

From: jarett r. Date: October 21, 2002 at 22:11

From: robert Date: October 22, 2002 at 9:13
buenisimo album d debut de estos hard rockeros glameros. festivo y cachondo como a mi me mola.

From: j Scott Date: November 1, 2002 at 21:21
Good party album. Llow on production, high on just plain fun. nothing too mystical about this, just straight ahead sex, drugs and rock n roll. What more could you ask for. Maybe that more 80's bands would resurface and start making music again.

From: Gar Date: November 29, 2002 at 2:11
A Glam classic! Technically its their worst album. It was recorded on a low budget and the production was rushed, but Poison's 'party' spirit was fully captured here. Some real standout tracks make up for the filler material.

From: jason (FA - Q) Date: February 9, 2003 at 20:59
Exactly my thoughts Los Ratt (what? ).Any-who, Way to go C.C., you've managed to show the world that you can write a guitar solo with only using one strig. 'C.C., pick up that guitar and talk to me!!' HA! HA!...... And what does that say for the rest of their albums when this happens to be their best?

From: Steve F. Date: February 10, 2003 at 2:44
Poison had to be one of the worst glam bands to have achieved so much success. This album was terrible! Awful production, weak songwriting, and C.C....we won't even go there!

From: samolice Date: February 19, 2003 at 19:22
first album have often something special. It 's the case with this one. A bomb exploded in 1986 with this album! Rock tunes & fun. Great cocktail! 10/10

GRAN DEBUT DE ESTA GRAN BANDA AUNQUE NO ES EL MEJOR PERO ES EL MAS CAÑERO,TODOS LOS TEMAS SUENA A ROCK ANGELINO Y FESTIVO,ME QUEDO CON TALK DIRTY TO ME Y CRY TOUGH.UN 9/10 Y ES UNO DE MIS DISCOS FAVORITOS

TALK DIRTY TO ME. 'NUFF SAID!

From: Scandinavia Date: June 25, 2003 at 6:13
This was where it all started for Poison...Along with TS they helped commercialize the metal genre(although this can't be labeled metal)and therefore you can't have nothing but respect for Poison. As a debut this album was a mediocre affair...Too many sleazy fillers for a 'real' glam album but having said so the hits like 'Talk Dirty..' and 'I want Action' makes it all worth while...Party on boys!

From: Dusty Date: July 26, 2003 at 13:21
this album has some cool songs. Talk dirty to me, look what the cat dragged in, #1 bad boy, I wont forget you. they are all great songs. Maybe CC isn't the greatest guitarplayer, the music is fun to listen to, it's real party music. Great shit!

From: Póizon Date: August 10, 2003 at 0:17
Ei, Scandinavia! Allá de these two grandes canciones que mencionaste, hay as arregazadoras de colo Cry Tough, Look What the Tigreza dragged Dientro and Yo won't forguete usted! So there are no muchas canciones de Glam Sujo preenchedoras.

From: Leebo Date: August 27, 2003 at 9:14
I can't beleive how many people have knocked CC's playing on this board, or the band in general. for christs sake, it's party rock n roll, not a Steve vai album. CC is an awesome guitar player, and as someone who plays, a bit of a hero. Maybe you should all take a listen to Flesh & Blood and have a rethink!

From: Axelinger Date: August 27, 2003 at 9:55
'CC is an awesome guitar player', 'a bit of a hero' Point one: Gary Moore is an awesome guitar player; C.C. DeVille is a tenth-rate, make-up-wearing hack... Point two: This supposed hero looked like a complete fool on some inane Awards show years ago when he pulled out every cheesy onstage pose in the book while performing a bunch of simplistic whammy exercises any kid with 5 lessons under his belt could achieve... Ever hear him talk? The man has the IQ of a walnut...

From: Leebo Date: August 28, 2003 at 5:05
Axelinger? hmmm.. Why the hell are you comparing him to Gary Moore. Mr Moore is a 'million notes a minute' blues player (when he needs the money that is) CC just plays rock n roll. So what if he pulled some shapes at this show, he is after all ....... a rock star! Isn't that what we want them to do? Sounds to me like your a muso guitarist who reads all the gadget mags, and thinks they should be famous cause they know a few scales .. grow up! CC made it with (as you put it) whammy exercises! what

From: Axelinger Date: August 28, 2003 at 13:44
You think a nitwit, who played simplistic music on teenybopper anthems; music so simple that a million other guitarists could play it in their sleep, is talented, and I should grow up??? Moore has played damned near every style throughout his career while little C.C. has only played mediocre, run-of-the-mill, glam claptrap, aimed at impressing adolescents, so who is the talented musician, and who is the posing, wanna-be rock star? That slug couldn't make a Best Of One Million Guitarists list...

From: Leebo Date: September 15, 2003 at 2:02
Gary Moore is a muso twat, who goes back to tired emotionless blues albums when he needs more cash. If not he plays souless fret wanking rock!! CC never pretended to be anything other than a glam guitarist having fun .. go figure. You represent the ugly side of guitar mate, all notes & no fun! Enjoy your twiddly heros!!

From: Axelinger Date: September 15, 2003 at 11:59
And you can enjoy your talentless hacks and their pretty poses while they sink into oblivion... Gary Moore, Steve Morse, Joe Satriani, etc. will leave a legacy of being influential guitarists; C.C. DeVille will be remembered as a complete joke -- if he's remembered at all...

From: Motley Date: September 15, 2003 at 16:11
C.C Deville is one of the most underrated great guitarist ever. Just listen to the solo in SWALLOW THIS LIVE where he kix off for about 12 minutes alone (or something like that) Awesome awesome. I cant think of any glam guitarist to top that!!!!!!!Fantastic band that continued and brought forth the image in which many late 80's and beginning 90's band copied. I fancy this piece to the top. Great fucking groundbreaking cover!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

From: Axelinger Date: September 15, 2003 at 18:09
That's pretty funny; please dazzle us with more of your insight after you turn 12... I can't see an adult even giving this pap a passing listen...

From: Leebo Date: September 18, 2003 at 11:02
you know once Satriani pulled off a triple run tremelo diminished scale with harmonic tap ons! zzzzz ... zzzzzzz etc don't be bitter axelinger, you might have fun one day

From: Axelinger Date: September 18, 2003 at 14:09
Bitter? Why would I be bitter when Poison supplies more unintentional laughs than Krusty The Klown... The fact anyone takes them seriously is further cause for merriment -- THAT really makes me laugh...

From: Leebo Date: September 19, 2003 at 7:23
who's laughing? they're a hugely successful group .. I think they might be laughing.

From: Axelinger Date: September 19, 2003 at 12:13
Oh, sure... They're just a-burnin' up the charts these days... Aside from you, and a handful of other aging juvenile delinquents, who even gives them a passing thought in the here and now? I picture you sitting in a darkened room, playing Poison CDs, and flicking a lighter whilst screeching, 'YOU'RE MY HERO, C.C.!!!!!!' in a futile attempt to recapture your lost youth... But keep praising the eye-shadow boys if that's what floats your boat... Once a gimmick, always a gimmick...

From: Leebo Date: September 19, 2003 at 13:10
How on earth do you know how old I am? They're not 'burnin the charts' but what genuine rock band is? There's no place for that sound in the charts any more and you know that. How's Gazza Moore getting on in the top 10's? what about Ywingie? Grow up mate, each to his own and all that.

From: Axelinger Date: September 19, 2003 at 15:20
I repeat, you sing the praises of kiddie bands, who deal in immature, party-hardy anthems, and I should grow up????? Cheerio, chap -- keep workin' at it, and you might reach adulthood someday...

From: Date: September 19, 2003 at 18:58

From: purrfect-kat Date: September 22, 2003 at 14:58
I listen to a variety of music but whenever I hear this CD it always reminds me of how much fun the 80's were. . I really wish they would make more music like this or better yet resurrect Warrant from the dead. . . . All I hear nowadays is pop and rap with nobody even playing a guitar.. (now there is something to complain about) . . Even Jon Bon Jovi worries more about his movie roles and pearly white teeth then he does about making good music . . (so sad) it is.

From: Motley Date: September 23, 2003 at 7:32
Axelinger, you wisecracker, get off this site, this is only for devoted fans and music lovers and since you cant say anything worthy then just piss off!You are way outnumbered....

From: Dusty Date: September 23, 2003 at 8:40
This is great party music! It shows perfectly you don't need superplayers to make very good music, and Poison is very good music. All you need is a couple of guys having fun, not just a group of extremely good mucicians who all wanna show the world how great they are.

From: Axelinger Date: September 23, 2003 at 17:28

Poison is and always be the #1 glam rock metal band this album has every thing, and i fuckin hate it when people say they are gay. its not their fault they look better than you dead beats walking around. lol but hands down this is 1 of their best albums!

From: Great Dane Date: October 13, 2003 at 17:03
....Sure, they look better than everybody else. Implants is what they should get.........Imagine CC with big hooters......Pamela Anderson, go home. zzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzz

From: TIM Date: October 13, 2003 at 20:53
I don't think they even look gay. Elton John and Freddy Mercury look nothing like these guys. Neither does Rob Halford. The theme of the '80s wasn't to endorse homosexuality or being transexual, but simply shock value as Kevin Steele put it. They wanted to look like the guy your mother said to avoid. If you want boobs- go to a Marilyn Manson concert.

From: TIM Date: October 13, 2003 at 20:56
These guys don't have a chance of looking as good as Pamela Anderson and if you think so you need therapy.

From: TIM Date: October 13, 2003 at 21:09
Nothing personal- just making a point. I have never looked at these guys as pretty. Glam rock is about rebellion and that's all I ever saw it as.

From: Leebo Date: October 24, 2003 at 8:13

In response to Poison bashers: I'm from Detroit and for the last 4 years they have SOLD OUT Pine Knob(20,000 seats) every year they've come to town. Alot of people love this band, and I'm one of them!! Love Crue,L.A.G's,GnR, but this band started it all out for me!! This music was made for drinking beer, chasing girls, fast cars, and good times!!! Nothing more and nothing less...The Slayer/Megadeth people always gave me much abuse..But you ever see the chicks at a Slayer concert?? Nuff said

From: Stich Date: November 26, 2003 at 6:38
Oh! One more thing....the first concert in '86 I saw alot of 19 yr. old tits being flashed!! The last four years at Pine Knob...I saw alot of 19 yr. old tits still being flashed!!! Also went to see 'Tatto the Earth' a coupla years back in Pontiac featuring Slayer and several other thrash(crap) bands....I saw NO tits being flashed, but I saw A ton of dumb sweaty assholes beating the shit out of each other in mosh pit...lovely......

cc is a terrible guitarrist, he always does the typical cheesy riff with no flavor, he only wanted to be eddie van halen, but he is only a bad shredder.

From: TIM Date: March 3, 2004 at 22:32
I disagree rrrr. No one sounded like C.C.. He was taught by a violinist to play, that's why it's different along with all the drugs. Glam is not about being technical whatsoever. I'd rather listen to Poison than Yngwie anyday. He can play, but it's boring as hell.

I´m from South América. This was the best Poison album. It made glam rock style more international and gave hard rock more influence in the charts ´cause it got fans of convensional rock and made them heavy metal fans. This Poison style was copied by Pretty Boy Floyd in its first album, in 1999. The Poison song: 'talk dirty to me' is the best, although the other songs of the album are great. ¡What a party album! alejandropc29@hotmail.com

POison is not heavy metal! MANOWAR, JUDASPRIEST AND IRON MAIDEN ARE HEAVY METAL!

From: Rockhead Date: May 11, 2004 at 7:11
POISON-SUCK!! They can't play, they can't sing they are bloody awful. But the worst thing about them was /is they don't even have the good grace to realise they suck. They actually believe that they are serious muso's. They should jack it in of all the 80's bands these were the worst followed closely by Warrant. Talk Dirty, Look what etc are bubblegum, throwaway songs, great in a niteclub, but seriously after 3+ plus songs you will want to blow your brains out!!

From: jack Date: May 12, 2004 at 5:53
to Alejandro, nobody can become heavy metal fan after listening to POISON. I mean Poison in some sense is not 'metal band' but if u want to put it in some way, they are!But glam metal, not heavy metal. Heavy metal are bands like judas priest, iron maiden, manowar, black sabbath.etc. Poison music is 'lighter' metal. In my opinion, lighter metal is divided into glam/sleaze metal, blues metal, melodic and pop metal.

From: jack Date: May 12, 2004 at 6:11
1)Glam/sleaze metal band: SKID ROW,MOTLEY CRUE,POISON,GUN'N'ROSES, FASTER PUSSYCAT,PRETTY BOY FLOYD,TWISTED SISTER,HANOI ROCK 2)Pop metal band:BON JOVI,WHITE LION,LATE VAN HALEN AND AEROSMITH AND QUIET RIOT,WARRANT,LITA FORD,VAIN,ENUFF'Z'NUFF 3)Blues metal band: WHITESNAKE,CINDERELLA 4 Melodic metal:EUROPE,DOKKEN,W.A.S.P, DEFLEPPARD. BANDS LIKE RATT,SCORPION AND ALICE COOPER ARE IN THE'LIGHTER' METAL LEVEL BUT ARE NOT COMPLETELY IN ANY OF THE ABOVE CATEGORY.

From: jack Date: May 12, 2004 at 6:20
A alot of metal/hard rock fan may not agree with all my statement above but these are just my opinion and i like to share my thoughts with others.FEEL FREE TO DEBATE ON MY STATEMENT! P.S TO THOSE WHO DON'T GET WHAT I MEAN BY 'LIGHTER' METAL,THEY ARE METAL MUSIC WHICH IS NOT AS HEAVY AS 'REAL' METAL MUSIC LIKE HEAVY,DEATH,BLACK,SPEED,THRASH AND DOOM METAL.

From: Great Dane Date: May 16, 2004 at 12:55
Theyre just a bunch of transvestites, dressed up. They dont have a metal sound, they dont even sound as a rock band........and have made the worst track ever. Even worse than the track Barbie Girl.....Its Unskinny Bop.......What a pile of crap.

From: jack Date: May 28, 2004 at 5:51
POison,in my opinion don't deserve to be criticize like that. So what if their music is not as loud and heavy as motley crue or gun'n'roses or they put their image above music,as some may accuse them of. They do at least stay true to themselves, thefan and the hard rock genre, right? They are the band that fuelled and keep hard rock alive today, not band like the darkness! They have tried hard and remain extremely loyal to the fans. Isn't that something to be proud of and deserve some respect!

From: Rockhead Date: May 28, 2004 at 6:00
Jack how can you make completely contrasting and opposite statements about the same bands in as many threads? Are you MAD?

From: jack Date: May 28, 2004 at 6:21
Well,i am just sick and tired of people giving poison such a hard time. i just think they don't deserve this!

From: Rockhead Date: May 28, 2004 at 6:31
Jack-by your own comments you say musically they are not great. Poison don't treat their fans any better than hundreds of other bands. The reason they are criticised is because they are talentless bozo's plain and simple. When anyone can prove otherwise, then hey maybe they will get some slack, but no-one can. it looks like Poison will be shit on forever.

From: jack Date: May 31, 2004 at 2:59
Actually,i can't find any reason why they are talented or great at producing music and i don't really have much prove about that they are talented and so on. I guess they really do get being criticize. One thing i know is that i think they are one of the most overrated hard rock band,if not the most overrated in the 80's,even more so than warrant, defleppard and bon jovi.

From: jack Date: May 31, 2004 at 3:03
Sorry to all the poison fans out there but i think poison deserve all the criticism they get even through i still believe thet don't really deserve it! I still do not get why there are so many poison fans worldwide,i think more than fans of cinderella, dokken or ratt which is maybe twice as good as poison.

I agree with Jack concerning Poison. Be realistic guys ! This is only a very, very average talented act. Not half as good as most bands of the same time : Dokken, Crue, Ratt, Winger etc. Maybe they have a lot of fans, good for 'em, but they are so overrated and their music is bubble gum teeny pop ! They miss the talent and the power of their timemates. Sorry !

Damn it, I agree with Freddy again... I thought this was a fun record when it came out, but my roommate at the time who was really into Megadeth used to hide it from me so I couldn't play it... now I rarely if ever pop it in the player...oddly enough now I'm more likely to listen to Megadeth...

From: Christine Date: June 1, 2004 at 21:45
Blue, you mean we BOTH agree with Freddy on this one?? Scary!!! Not the most talented band, but it's still a fun album. Let's just say if a song comes on the radio (XM radio, that is), I won't turn it off. But if you really want to torture me, make me listen to CC's live solos!

From: jack Date: June 2, 2004 at 5:37

From: AOR freaky Date: June 3, 2004 at 4:29

Heavy Harmonies Volunteer
From: Blue Charvel Date: June 3, 2004 at 8:59
Additionally Slash and Lynch aren't even in the same category, how can you compare 'em? It's like comparing Malmsteen to BB King. Totally different styles, both excellent players, so it comes down to personal taste. Whereas with CC, you may like his style, but on a technical level he is most definitely sub par. If that doesn't bother you jack, then it really doesn't matter either way. One man's trash is another man's treasure ...or something like that... personally I'm a big Doug Aldrich fan.

From: jack Date: June 15, 2004 at 8:58
i heard that slash lost out a place as poison's guitarist because he is not pretty enough. i think that is quite absurd cause if slash isn't good enough musically wise, thats fine but looks???Anyway,is cc that good looking?

megadeth is not hartd rock but trash metal Jack, just as slayer or metallica, and Poison sucks, worst band ever. They were the worst musicians in this genre. They represent all the bad things that hair metal could have,if you want to listen good hard rock listen to motley dokken bon jovi or van halen but not this crap.

From: jack Date: June 17, 2004 at 9:36

Poison may not be the greatest glam or hair metal band but they do not suck!bands that suck do not generally have so many fans and sell so many albums!nirvana, incubus and nirvana are the bands that really sucks. Even though the riff for 'Talk Dirty to Me' was ripped straight from Cheap Trick's 'She's Tight' or the Sex Pistols 'God Save the Queen' Poison will always rank as one of my favorite glam bands. No- they didn't have the most musical talent in the world but for some reason I have always got into these guys. It's easy to rip on Poison but screw ya if you can't take a joke. The songs are catchy as hell. Poor production? What do ya expect for the budget they had?

All songs are catchy, fun and pure enjoyment. Poison is just the complete opposite of grunge music. Granted Poison epitomized the over indulgence of the 80's. You either like it or don't. Somehow this band and the time it came out something happened. It was pure fun and escapism. Who cares if they aren't musically inclined. Somehow I never got Bon Jovi and still don't. Sure they looked really silly so did other bands. I saw them live and didn't think much of them but they had energy. Obviously the live show was influenced heavily on Kiss.

Let's get this straight. THERe may be band that are more talented or rock harder than poison, but few other captured the spirit of hard rock and pop-metal more than poison. Nothing but a good time etopimised the whole 80's hair metal scene while every rose has its thorn may be the greatest rock power ballad ever. Poison was the most successful and popular hard rock acts after def leppard and bon jovi and they scored multi-platinum for 3 consecutive album(this one, open up and say ah,flesh&blood)

From: jack Date: April 8, 2005 at 4:49

Poison influence the late 80's pop-metal and sleaze glam scene more than anybody else. By taking the best elemnent of def leppard, ratt and motley crue while adding a little specail sleaze of touch in their music, poison may just be the greatest hair metal band of all time and the best hard rock act of the 80's.

Well GLAMFAN you should try to find Jack as you and he could have seperated at birth AND you are both in Australia AND you write the same way on the same albums AND you appeared as he disapeared. Poison are very overated copyists who were more interested in the look and lifestyle than the music. 2nd raters who struck lucky by being there at the time. They owe everything to Crue, Ratt et al.

From: GLAM FAN Date: April 18, 2005 at 6:11
What's wrong with worrying about looks and lifestyle? Isn't it the same for all glam band. RATT is o.k,but motley crue is more self-conscious and more about chasing women than poison themselves. Take a look at twisted sister,KISS,Alice cooper,wa.s.p,faster pussycat etc-they are all very image consious too. If you compared the music, poison doesn't necessarily get beaten when compared with crue and RATT. Talent wise, poison definitely is way behind but album wise, posion is still the better bet!

Pura imagen.

One of the most overrated bands (and one of the poorest musically) of the 80's glam rock/hair metal/whatever.... The album got the hooks, starting with that good song "Cry Tough" but as the minutes rolls on (righ after that classic, track # 6 "Talk Dirty To Me") everything's noisedives, lame tracks here and there with a poor production. The next two albums are better. More image than music. Pity!

This was my comment long time ago n i won´t change it:his is very glammin´n´slammin´ n´ breath takin´ cd! I sing in the bars everytime i want action, talk dirty to me, look what the...., cry tough! Alltime favourite band and album! This is what we called GLAM with a fuckin´ big time! Catchy songs, good rifs, cool voice of bret and rikki twirling the drum sticks!!!!AWESOME!!!!!!Don´t hesitate if you don´t got this cd buy it!

There was a time when I kinda didn't mind Poison. It was called "fourth grade." But as the years go by, I've grown to hate them more and more. With these guys as the figurehead of pop-metal, it's no wonder so many people laugh off the entire genre. Ridiculous image, amateurish music, feel-stupid-just-listening lyrics that make Kiss sound like Rush, and out front, a prancing, simpering little monkey named Bret, who has emerged as one of the biggest embarrassments in entertainment. The title track is the only salvageable thing on this disc. The rest, pure garbage.

Hey GlamSlam, you say this is your all-time favorite band and album, but then you said almost the exact same about Skid Row and their debut. Which is it?

From: CC Date: August 11, 2009 at 15:30
A person can have more than one favourite band and album, so what is your problem with that, just because you dont like this band? And just for the record, in the Skid Row thread they said "best HARD ROCK album", here they said fave album and band. Maybe they classify Poison as glam or rock rather than hard rock. You have your opinion, let other people have theirs without jumping on them.

I remember the first time I heard Talk Dirty To Me. It was a few years ago and before then I thought Poison was some punk band. I heard Every Rose... on a TV show and looked it up and decided to get the Best of Posion album and then I got this too. To this day it remains one of my favourite songs. The rest of the album is raw, almost sleazy pop metal. It's much rawer than the subsequent albums and they never caught the same power of this album as they did others. Whoever thinks Native Tongue is better than this should be jailed for life.

wow doesn't poison and cc deville create heated passionate debate fact is i was never a poison fan when i was young i started to appreciate them a couple of years ago it's no secret they weren't musically gifted nor was brett michaels a great singer but looking back this is a fun album with singalong songs i think cc does ok on the guitar i like his sound here it's very raw i love cry tough, talk dirty to me,i want action,i won't forget you and the title track fine stuff indeed i understand why people hate and love poison but they should never be taken serious they're nothing more than a good time simple as that

my third fave album by this band.the glamiest of all the albums they've released till today. the sound is good and the production well done. great party r'n'r album. my faves: look what the cat dragged in, cry tough and I want action.

In my humble opinion... The best album to come out in that place & time. It is what it is. An all killer , no filler dose of glam. Often imitated, but never equaled. Poison are an easy target... but they had the songs to back up the image and attitude. The sum of your band isn't always measured by technical proficiency. It is a KKKKKlassik!

My least favorite Poison release. Half the songs are amazing, the other half are pure filler. However, this record does have some awesome songs like Cry Tough, I Want Action, Talk Dirty To Me and Look What The Cat Dragged In.

an absolute classic release of the Hollywood scene!the history of hard rock music is written and POISON is an important part of it!CC is one of the best guitar players in that genre and Bret one of the most charismatic frontmen!ALL the songs are great and i d say that Look What The Cat Dragged In achived perfection!

A cool glammy release!!!...not the best ever but undoubtebly this is a party rock album for sure ...they were sold as "beautiful kids" and that's annoying when you try to be recognized not only for the look but musically instead...tracks 2,3(nice),5,6(the best cut!),7 & 8 are catchy songs all over,so...let's party!!!.88/100
