2025 Heavy Harmonies Donation Drive Update
Nov. 24, 2025: Almost half way through the annual donation drive and we're
at almost 50% of the goal of covering site expenses for 2026. Most regulars
have already donated, so now it's up to everyone else. Costs
are up this year, no thanks to an unexpected forum move, which incurred additional expenses.
The drive will run through the end of the year, details over on the Heavy Harmonies Forum.
Every donation helps, no matter how small. If you can't afford $20 for the
year, give $10. If you can't afford $10, give $5. It's just once a year and
keeps the lights on.

| Through what I can only imagine was a fluke of circumstance, Frontiers Records picked up the European distribution for the sophomore album of Michelle Meldrum’s eponymous band. It's a release so heavy and aggressive that it makes Phantom Blue sound like Vixen, making this the black sheep of the melrock catalog. It turns up the dial from the group’s 2002 release by incorporating elements from the nu- and death metal subgenres, with actual melodic songs few and far between. (“Another Kind” and “Get Me Out of Here” are the only ones I can think of and even that's a stretch.) Disappointingly, anything about the album that would appeal to metal fans is undermined by seriously troubled production values, with the mixing particularly substandard. Vocalist Moa Holmsten – whose solo fare is pop rock – isn’t particularly suited to the material, and she struggles with the heaviest songs. I'm still a fan of the release, but it's difficult to recommend it to anyone else.
