This disc isn't as uptempo as their first three, but still worth buying. The biggest problem is that most of the vocals are buried deep in the mix. Far Enough is the best song here.

Very good release that you'll actually listen to more than once unlike a lot of newer studio releases from bands of this ilk. AC/DC meets the Beatles on some tunes here and they manage to update their sound without abandoning their roots. 'Is It Real?' is the best tune here but there are really no fillers. Vocals are buried a bit but it's great in 2003 a band like this can still deliver the goods. Well worth the $14 I plunked down and gives me hope for this genre!!

It's great to hear something new from these guys. A solid release that is better than most artists of this genre who have put out CDs in recent years. My faves are Pain, Freaktown, Is It Real? and Far Enough. T.L.U.C.(For You) and Lonely Ones aren't bad either. Go out and grab this one.

It is GREAT to see new releases coming out from bands like Britny Fox, Skid Row, and Queensryche. It gives me hope that the musical landscape may someday again be filled with melodic/hard rock like the mid-80s, early 90s.This is a very solid release from Britny Fox. I went in not expecting a whole lot (their first studio release in 12 years),and was VERY pleasantly surprised.The 2 stand-outs for me are 'For You' and 'Is It Real' -highly infectious song; you'll be singing it the rest of the day!

'Pain' is a real rocker. Crunching guitars and soaring vocals. 'Is It Real' is an acoustic mid tempo ballad which is the gem of this disc. Other than these 2, there seems to be something missing. 'Sri Lanka' is too long and most of the others are too short. If you are a die hard fan then this is for you. If not it needs to grow on you.

Rycheage..I picked this up only cause somehow I keep thinking the sound I love from them (1st 2 albums) will somehow reappear even w/o DDD.BUT this is a total piece of crap less the song PAIN.IMO.anyone looking for the 1st 2 album sound or even the 3rd with Tommy Paris.save your $$.Metal has been given a 2nd chance for life and this is the crap that we get.THIS IS NOT B.F.!!whats missing Ryecheage is everything that made B.F. and a ton of bands great from the 80's.Quote the WidoMakr...Never More

I just got this album and I have to say, it really sucks. I was always a big B.F. fan, but this album is mostly crap. Sorry Tommy & Michael, but your production skills really suck shit. Also, I don't care if they are heading in a new direction with their music, but what the fuck man?.... What's with all the fuckin' keyboards!? Oh yeah, one last thing... Is Tommy Paris a total queer or what? He looks like a complete fag. At least M. K. Smith still has his long rock 'n' roll hair.

Man... wow... phew... holy moly... sweet Jesus... this ... is ... crap. REALLY crap. What band is this again? Britny Fox you say? I don't recall Britny Fox using a $5 casio keyboard and a toy-trumpet! Man these songs sound sooo cheesy and silly it's not even funny. The songs are just full of really, really... er... LAME moments. Not bad lyrics or anything, just really crap sections (usually involving REALLY cheap & lame keyboard sections) that make you just squirm with embarressment. Dreadful.

I'm happy they are back, but in this new cd I can't find great anthems,like that ones they wrote in great albuns like Bite down hard. Are they ashamed to write again great arena rock songs again? After a few spins I give this one a 6.

very acceptable cd from these guys. True, the sound production on the vocals are not great but you can still hear vintage Britny Fox in there. It took a couple of spins but overall I do like the cd and the three bonus videos on the cd make it worth the money. The sound is up-dated yet you still hear the old 'Fox' in spots. Imagine 40ft Ringo mixed with a much more aggressive sound. Imagine the New Skid Row with the roots of Britny Fox. Hey, don't imagine anything just pick the cd up and listen f

I was really curious about this CD. I mean, Britny Fox hasn't recorded a studio album since 1991. Their style really isn't in vogue at all and I was curious to see if they would stick to their guns stylistically or if they would try to 'get with the times'. Well, neither is true yet both are true. Their sound is still in tact and they still know how to write a good, hooky chorus and anthem, however, this is coupled with a more modern production and a bit more vicious attitude overall.

I wouldn't go so far as to say this sucks, but it's the same way I feel about Skid Row - Sebastian is Skid Row, and Dizzy Dean is Britny Fox. If the band had a different name, I would probably think it was pretty decent! And I do have to admit 'Pain' kinda rocks.

I actually quite like this disc. Nice blend of BF's classic sound with a more modern attitude and production. 'Pain' and 'Freaktown' are as infectious as anything the band had done with Dizzy. 'Is It Real?' is just a cool song. 'Springhead' shows that Mr. Smith still has chops. Vocals are a bit buried, although not terribly so. Dizzy is certainly missed, but Paris is still a good vocalist. Overall, a good disc if given a chance.

The first two featured killer musicianship but Dizzy killed them with his horrid vocals. 'Bite down hard' is a great hard rock album with much better vocals. This time round, not even the vocals can save this. The songs are sh*t and the album is just crap. I'd have preferred the guys just to re-release the first two with Tommy on vocals! Bad album but I guess we can just thank god Dizzy didn't make it any worse than it had to be...

Pain is one of the best songs these guy have ever done, it friggin rocks big time. A lotof attitude and bsalls, the rest of the album is decent, but its nothing like Bite Down Hard. If your a diehard then get it, but buyer beware!! This album is subpar and dissapointed me and a lot of fans.

Well, when i first got this cd i was happy to have something new from them. I gave it an ok to get kind of review but after having it for some time i must give it a Dont Bother to get this one. It is a poor cd by these guys who can do a lot better

This cd turned out to be alright. Freaktown is an absolutely great track off of it. Why do I have a feeling you guys won't give ANYTHING a good review unless it is rehashed from the 80's? Why should a band released the same CD over and over again with a different name? It's been over a decade since the first Britny Fox album, so I think they are allowed a bit of change in their sound. This is a good CD and mixes their classic sound with a more modern vibe. You might even enjoy this CD if you could ever break out of your 1980's, spandex-clad, little boxes.

No Scott, we don't want the same album re-hashed. But as a fan of a particular band you do hope the band in question can perhaps better their previous release. All it takes is a band like Warrant to dissprove your theory in a second. I love 'DRFSR', 'Cherry Pie', 'Dog eat dog' and 'Ultraphobic', I like all TNT releases - hell, I like ANY good album! I don't like pathetic excuses like yours in defence of an album that is just plain not good. No sentimental living in the 80's reasons included.

That said, a lot of us did like Britny Fox, and all of us here gave this a go. Why does it have to be that same reason all you kind of folk seem to give if we don't like a new album? What about the hundreds of other new and recent releases with an updated sound we do like? They count for nothing? Look further than this CD buddy, and just accept the fact that the majority of us dislike the bad songs plain and simple, not the fact that it was not released in the 80's! IMO, it's just a poor CD.

This one just didnt grab my attention the way I hoped it would. I love the old school of rock but I also like some of the modern stuff,especially by bands I like (Warrant,Danger Danger etc) if they do it well,and for my money BF just didnt do it that well. Dull is a word that springs to mind!

I think Scott is right. GIVE this cd a chance!! If you want to hear the same old songs cd after cd, buy ANY Kiss or AC/DC cd those two band NEVER try ANYTHING new. This cd is GREAT!! 8/10!

CJ, you might want to check out 'Carnival of souls'. I'm not TOO sure as it is very similar to 'Crazy Crazy nights' - I do admit that, but it might not be so similar to the 'Hot in the shade' album. Jokes mate, but I'm not too sure about the validity of your comment. I'm not a huge Kiss fan, but even 'Revenge' was a good solid change in a heavier direction.

Only a couple of decent songs on this one. Moving away from the glam hard rock sound, they have taken a more mature sounding modern rock garbage! This should have been under a different name altogether. It sounds nothing like the older catchy material they always provided. Pain is a pretty cool song, but after that, it takes a nose dive into crapville!!! Steer clear if you like old school BF!!! 3.5/10...

This one was a little bit of a let down for me. It just seemed to be missing something for me. It just didn't have the same magic that their earlier releases had. I guess I hyped myself up to much when I heard they were putting this one out and it didn't live up to my expectations. There are a few tracks I enjoy though and I'm glad they are making music again. I just hope they visit their roots a little on the next one.

Dont see why all the complaints about this one not being that good. It seems to have a nice compliment of heavy, melodic tracks with in your face vox & soaring harmonies. I'll take it anyday.

Time to expand... Britny Fox returned to the studio shortly after reuniting with their second (and better) singer Tommy Paris. If you're expecting a second Bite Down Hard, you'll probably be disappointed; instead, this is a mix of very good and slightly weird (although not necessarily bad). Pain is a great opener with a nice heavy riff; it's missing a hook though. I love Freaktown; it has great lyrics and a decent riff. T.L.U.C. (For You) is the first weird one and has some nice keys thrown in but doesn't seem to go anywhere although the solo is nice. LA is a strange little ballad with some lovely vocals by Paris. Springhead Motorshark is a definite highlight; it's a very decent hard rock instrumental with great guitars and hooks. Is It Real is an uptempo acoustic ballad and, while a little odd, is a good listen. Of the rest, Far Enough is a very heavy hard rock song; Lonely Ones is about as close to Bite Down Hard as we get, but that's not necessarily good as it's only half-decent...

...but sounds like a rejected demo from that album; Memorial is a pretty boring alternative-sounding hard rock affair; lastly, Sri Lanka has a decent rhythm but seems to last too long - especially because the second-half of it is some sort of strange-sounding street music from, well, Sri Lanka I assume. This album definitely has some plus points to it but I would've preferred a natural follow-up to Bite Down Hard with some great songs in it which, they've proved they can do instead of all the experimental stuff. If Dean Davidson had been involved instead of Paris would we have gotten a better album? Not necessarily, especially since Davidson has tried his fair share of experimental folk stuff which isn't nearly as listenable as this album. I'd love to hear the true follow-up to Bite Down Hard we never got due to the oft-cited 'grunge-explosion'.

This is a rough one. Waited about 20 years to buy it. If you liked Bite Down Hard, it may be best to avoid this one. It's not as if the album is outright horrible yet it is a radical departure from Bite Down Hard.
