Incredible ratchet job after everyone accused them of being a Zep copy band. They came back with a killer album that showed they could rock and write with the best. This makes it to my turntable much more than the first album.

A great follow up release which shows that they have their own sound and they are not a cover band.

This is a very good cd if you like the first album. It's different sounding but was better than the first and they established their own sound instead of everyone saying that they were led zeppelin sound alikes.

AWESOME cd. At the time got this for free and had every intention of hating it!!! Checked it out though and the tape never got out of my car for months. Great songs and production and it feels like they just relaxed and played what they dug and quit worrying about the Zeppelin comparisons. Songs 1-5 I'd put up with any rock album side ever!!! If you check these guys out get this one.

A super second album. I liked all the songs. Also the videoclips were strong (esp. "Overrated"). The guitar tunes and style impressed me.

Kim, wasn't the last Scorps album you gave a rat's ass about 'Blackout'? James Kottak plays for the Scorpions now, you know. Does anyone care about good drummers anymore, are we too simple-minded past listening to one particular instrument. Electronic drums have revolutionised the world of drumming since the early 80s to this millennium. The electric guitar is an ancient instrumental piece in rock 'n' roll. Expand your thoughts and your mind, everyone. Things will become clearer.

The drum has been around much longer than the guitar. Check the history books. By the way, I've praised Mick Brown as well as Blas Elias on many occasions. Mark Edwards and the Bonhams also get mentioned frequently. Deen Castronovo gets a lot of praise as well. The guitar is just a flashier instrument that can be manipulated in more ways than the drum. Hence, more neat sound effects.

TIM, check YOUR history books. I don't remember the electronic drums having been invented during the times of Elvis or the Beatles. Read the text a little more carefully next time. What kind of history books do you read? I wouldn't trust what the Brits have written; they still believe the Redcoats won.

Maybe I did read too fast. However, I am not an electronic drum fan.

If you want to hear more drumming comments- start mentioning it more often. I've heard you talk about guitarists before, but not many drummers. Who is your fav? I know you like Traci Guns on the axe but have no idea who your favorite drummer is.

(TIM, these days you could be listening to electronic drums on any given modern recording and have no idea that they weren't acoustic. That's how far they have advanced. Thousands of near-perfect sound samples can be included on one electric drum brain.) Favorite drummers? Phil Collins has done some great work in the past, and has never been 1-dimensional. Paul Monroe of XYZ is one of the greatest hard-hitting rock drummers I know. Also, Jimmy Chalfant, Ricki Rockett, & John Fowler are awesome.

Thanks for asking. Can never just pick one, though. I've been trying to mention guitarists less and less in my posts mostly because all I ever hear/see people rave about are guitarists. It's gotten on my nerves pretty badly. If you want to hear something REALLY wacky, I think Kip Winger is a bitchin' bassist. P.S. Are you one of those speed readers, by any chance?

Most of that hand percussion/latin percussion drives me insane, however. It's too tribal and uninteresting to me.

Just an interesting little item. I remember when this album first came out K-mart refused to stock it because someone there thought the name of the band was just "Kingdom" and the album title was...yup, you guessed it.

I'm glad to read the above peoples' drummmer chat. Well, let me also mention my favourite drummers coming to my mind for now; Mike Portnoy of Dream Theater, Troy Luketta of Tesla, Greg Bisonette from David Lee Roth Band, Alex Van Halen and Frankie Banali (Quite Riot, WASP...). I also like the performances of Jimmy De Grasso from Y&T (I think he's currently in Megadeath) and Audie Desbrow of Great White.

Baris, the 5 greatest drummers are Jean Cruper, Neil Peart, Bo Jackson(jazz drummer), Slayer's original drummer and that guy from the police....so there!!!

Kottak is an awesome drummer, he is now with the Scorpions, in which he was AWESOME on their recent tour!!! Also, kind of a weird fact, James is married to Tommy Lee's sister.

That fella mentioned Alex Van Halen!!! I thought I was the only one on earth who would give him some credit. In any case, he's my mother compared to Portnoy and the guys you just mentioned above. Best arms in the circus though are Nicko Mc Brain's, although average legs. Peart and Banali are great also. Happy not to see Ulrich, overrated for a long time. The fella from House of Lords also brilliant. How about the ones from Manowar and AC-DC? Any credit for endurance surrounded by inept players?

Hell YEAH!! One of BEST albums of that time period, MUCH better than the debut. They seemed to get away from that Zep sound a bit The whole first side of the album rocks(the whole thing does for that matter). If you dont have it, you should definitely check it out!!

Less Zeppelin-ish than the debut. This one starts off strong, but becomes more predictable as the disc goes on. Not bad overall, but falls short of being a must have.

Do they have a third album that rocks as seriously as the first two? I don't think 'Hands of Time' is that album?
|
From: Blue Tequila |

Hands of Time was Lenny's 3rd release but it definitely didn't rock like the first two. It was more slow and plodding but still very good songs imho. Just not something you would throw in at a party.

As they say, if it ain't broke don't fix it. Incredibly similar to the debut with a sensational opening track (Fuck yes I like it!), a killer closing track and in the middle (this time at number 4) the awesome melodic "bracket" song - 'Gotta go (Can't wage a war)'. Three stunning tracks, IMO better than the parallels of the debut and with these three we have the incredibly wonderful ballad 'Who do you love'. Another great CD - IMO better than the first.

This record does exactly what a 2nd record should do. Smoke the 1st one! This is a sraight through listen, no bad songs. Highway 6 is the best one. But do you like it, gotta go, and mean dirty joe are great also. Some of KC'S newer stuff is great also. Check out passion departed, shot down, and can't deny, you won't be dissappointed!

Considering KC have just announced an original lineup reunion tour & hoping for a new record, good time to reflect on what is ever so slowly becoming a classic from a bygone era. In Your Face was just that, & established the band after the critical bashing given them after their solid debut. IYF stands up against any of the bignames of its era, BIG hooks BIG sound BIG chorus', tracks such as Who Do You Love, Stargazer, Gotta Go and Overrated big on hooks & chorus outclassing the sugar coated poodle metal taking over an overindulgent genre bringing on the onslaught of grunge. Do You Like It is the perfect opener high on riff, and elsewhere Perfect O' straddles the poodle line but easilly manages to outfun most their contemporaries! The band are on fire here and Wolf owns the show. Not sure why he then decided to make KC 'Wolf solo' but while continued to release decent material it was In Your Face which saw the real KC standing proud. Essential listening. Rating 8.5 maybe even a 9!
