|Great CD! Dokken-style guitars (Dan Wexler could possibly kick George Lynch's ass) with better vocals/harmonies. Why weren't these guys huge? I have 'Right Between the Eyes' and that one is also amazing! Different singer on that one-sounds like David Coverdale.
||Date: August 10, 2001 at 15:35|
|The best Icon cd of them all
||Date: December 1, 2001 at 10:39|
|I agree with T-Bone. Night of the crime is Icon's best effort. Even better than the self titled release.
||Date: December 3, 2001 at 7:08|
|But the selftiteled first is also a killer album even a bit heavier!!!
||Date: March 22, 2002 at 20:56|
|Weak album. Eight of the songs are o.k. but not great.'Danger callin'' and 'Rock my radio' however are top rate killer cuts. If you find this CD at below $8.00 buy it, if higher don't waste your money.
||Date: March 25, 2002 at 14:42|
|Oh Oh, Ron, weak Ears ? Rock my Radio is the commercial fallout on this killeralbum!!!!
||Date: March 28, 2002 at 4:39|
|One of the true gems of 80's metal. Great production and excellent songwriting are set off by excellent vocals, and the twin guitar work of Wexler and Aquilino playing leads in harmony. Keyboards are tastefully added to this CD, giving it a more commercial overall sound than the bands first album. 'The' Icon album to own!!
||Date: April 28, 2002 at 17:40|
|Agreed. I usually am not a big fan of Keyboards, but they were tastefully done on this. They don't overpower the guitars like some other bands have done in the past. It is a bit on the commercial side, but still the best Icon cd
||Date: May 11, 2002 at 8:16|
|gGOOD ALBUM,..BUT THE FIRST IS MANY MUCH BETTER,IS A GREAT HEAVY METAL ALBUM EVER MADE IN YHE HISTORY,,,,,KILLER MACHINE,ON YOUR FEET,ROCK ON THROUGH THE NIGHT, ALL SONGS AND THE BETTER END 'IT'S UP TO YOU' THANKS GUY OF ICON WHAT HAPPENED WITH STEPHEN CLIFFORD PLEASE ANY INFORMATION firstname.lastname@example.org
||Date: May 13, 2002 at 3:23|
|Clifford became a christian fanatic (or something like that) and left the musicbiz, because he touhgt it doesn't fit with his religion (I read this somewhere in the net). After he left ICON the band was dead. The 'Right between..' album is average boring stuff, nobody needs!!!
||Date: May 23, 2002 at 14:47|
| Biggest regret is WHY them didn`t they become humongous!This album is magical,a true underrated 80`s classic!The guitar duo ,Dokken meets Scorpions circa 85.Sublimiar keybords create a charming dramatic,melodic feeling,fantastic!Solid bass & drums.I rather preffer Stephen vocals,I feel that he had pretty much a personal style.His perfomance in 'Missing'and'Danger Calling' makes me just burn inside.100 out of 10 record Reissued recently in Europe,limited edition.Run!Grab yours imediately!
||Date: June 19, 2002 at 22:52|
|ICON should've been promoted better than they were. They would've been huge. They are one of the greatest bands of the 80's. Poor management I guess.
||Date: July 22, 2002 at 10:18|
|CAN ANYONE TELL ME WHO THEY KIND OF SOUND LIKE? THE COMMENTS SOUND LIKE THEY MIGHT BE WORTH CHECKING OUT... PLEASE HELP!
||Date: July 23, 2002 at 9:41|
|TJ- these guys remind me of Dokken or Fifth Angel with the added keyboard element. Excellent vocals and memorable hooks. Hope that helps.
||Date: July 24, 2002 at 9:42|
|HEY KOOGLES THANX FOR THE ANSWER BACK. ILL GIVE EM A SHOT THEN! PEACE OUT
|From: Andre Tekken
||Date: July 24, 2002 at 13:38|
| Hey TJ this album was re-issued recently in France by Axe-Killer!It is a limited edition!This band had it`s own sounding,but among the others it has a bit of early Dokken,King Kobra,Fith Angel,Scorpions and Keel!!It`s a shame why they didn`t become huge.This record is realy,realy something!
|From: Andre Tekken
||Date: July 27, 2002 at 8:04|
| Stephen vocals also reminds me a bit of a cross between Ron Keel from Keel and Mike Vescera from Obssesion,Yngwie Malmsteen and Loudness!

|Money spent on this cd would never be considered wasted. Excellent album but a wholly different sound from their debut. This a melodic hard rock album as opposed to a straight ahead metal album like the debut. The production is infinately better and the guitar sound is spectacular. There isn't a weak song on this album at all. You can hear the transition starting to happen on the debut with a song like Killer Machine which sounds like a lot of this album but without the pristine production.
|From: Steve T
||Date: September 5, 2002 at 10:19|
|Eddie Kramer brought out the best in the band there's no question. At the time they were around they really were streets ahead of their peers and it is a crying shame that Stephen jumped ship and ruined things for the band. Capitol also need to take the blame for their terrible lack of promotion with an album that, in the right hands, would have seen Icon in the big leagues very easily. Amazing album.....get at all costs.
||Date: September 28, 2002 at 23:51|
|I think that this album, they found what they were looking for. I like their first offering, but it tended to sound like everyone else at that time. I found it refreshing that they had the balls to branch out by adding keyboards, which at that time wasn't a real popular thing for a hard rock band to do. They should have been huge!!
|From: freddy de keyze
||Date: September 30, 2002 at 2:37|
|MONSTER of an album. A real CLASSIC and much better than their first effort. They're better than Dokken,because they also use keys. An album (now digitally remastered on CD !) that You can't afford to miss ! BUY !!!
||Date: September 30, 2002 at 7:57|
|I can't believe I am saying this but I agree with freddy . . . This is a good cd and if I was to guess freddy's favourite song on it then I would say it was 'Danger Calling' . . . my favourite is 'Hungry For Love' . . lol
||Date: October 13, 2002 at 12:58|
|Both this and their first are a must for any collection. The difference between the two due largely to the input of Bob Halligan (writing) on '...Crime'.
||Date: November 19, 2002 at 18:39|
| Over the top vocals...heavy drums...also heavy guitar...Better tham Dokken...
||Date: December 3, 2002 at 21:21|
|This album kicks you in the ass and doesn't stop. No serious metal collection is complete without NOTC.

|One of the most underated albums ever,great songs,great vocals & crisp clean production values,PS Why oh why is'nt possibly the greatest aor/hard rock album of all time listed here? 'EVERYBODY'S CRAZY' by Michael Bolton.
||Date: February 21, 2003 at 19:57|
|Bolton has no place here, not to mention the guy SUCKS!
||Date: February 21, 2003 at 20:49|
|If you mean Michael Bolton SOLD OUT I agree,however he still made ONE hell off an album.
||Date: August 11, 2003 at 19:13|
|THIS ISNT THE SOUND OF DOKKEN, ICON IS BETTER, THE ALBUM IS AMAZING
||Date: October 25, 2003 at 19:29|
|The most OVERATED album of all times. nothing new in terms of songwriting. The songs are crap. Me lo compr' por lo dicho en esta p'gina pero no me ha gustado nada.
||Date: November 13, 2003 at 17:12|
|Icon is one of the most underrated hard rock bands of all time in my opinion. And the AOR tag on them here is misleading, they're melodic metal at it's best. Why this band never made it big is just beyond me. Shot At My Heart and Danger Calling are absolutely killer tracks, and Naked Eyes, Out For Blood, and The Whites of Their Eyes are great too. And Steve Clifford has one of the best voices I've ever heard. One of the most underrated bands of all time!!

|The B E S T album ever!!! Absolutely perfect- great songs, great sound and production and the look to get all the girls . So sad they never break through.
||Date: March 6, 2004 at 20:03|
|got this for my 21st birthday, when it first came out..What a present..they were totally unique..I must have played this lp constantly for around 3 weeks...danger calling and the vocals on naked eyes are just 2 of the many highlights on this lp....hated right between the eyes though...
||Date: April 5, 2004 at 18:41|
|What happened here? I love this band, but the Self Titled debut was pure 80's rock... Night Of The Crime is pure 80's fluff. I hope they were going after the female audience with this recording. The title track sounds like something that should have been on Shy's Excess All Areas LP.
||Date: April 18, 2004 at 23:06|
|I can't believe some people do not like this album. To me its one of the masterpieces of the 1980s. Every song oozes melodic magic and crosses the borders between hard rock and AOR. Stephen Clifford's voice is amazing and so are the hooks for the likes of 'Missing', 'Frozen Tears', 'Naked Eyes', and 'Danger Calling'. The dramatic vocal performance... the lush keyboards... the tight production and crisp guitars... wow, this one was something else!
||Date: May 20, 2004 at 11:45|
|A good release again from Icon, my favourite tracks are whites of their eyes and hungry for love, its more mellow than there debut but its a strong release and steve clifford on vocals and dan wexler on guitar kick serious ass
|From: ROCKIN SCOTT

|This cd is one my top ten picks .The production and mix on this cd our top notch .Sure the record company pushed the band to be more commercial,radio friendly.This cd is the best thing the band ever put out .The first cd lacks prodution and sounds flat in some spots ,I am sure that if the record company would have spent more time and money on producing Icon ,st cd they would have been a mega super hit with all metal and rock fans .I lived in Arizona when these guys where just getting started.

|I do really like this, but much prefer their next ('A More Perfect Union') album. Neither were very well produced, but there is barely a bad song on either album. The debut was a little short of these two, and worse sounding, but still worth picking up. Not sure where the Dokken comparisons come from....
|From: Big Papa K
||Date: June 27, 2004 at 0:09|
|This is a really good aor album. One of the few albums where the keyboard riffs sound better than the guitar riffs. The first three tracks are great, and the rest is consistent, but on the few tracks when they try to sound heavier, they fail. 8/10
||Date: August 15, 2004 at 18:10|
|I loved the 80s,purely for albums like this.No messing,no fuss,just glorious AOR.
||Date: August 15, 2004 at 20:50|
|Not too much you can say about this that I'm sure has not already been said. As far as 80's melodic hard rock goes, this is one of the classics. A few too many keyboards in places, but musically superb otherwise and who can resist those excellent songs, one after another? Great melodic hard rock album. 'Danger callin', 'Shot at my heart' and 'Whites of their eyes' are my faves. Love it! 8.5/10
||Date: September 26, 2004 at 10:32|
|Its damn hard to find this cd in the UK but worth finding because this album is a killer!!!Crisp melodies,Cutting edge guitar work,totally unique.Just a shame these guys are not around now.'Shot at my heart' and 'Danger Calling' are classics.If anyone knows any information on these guys it would be great to hear it!!! email@example.com
||Date: September 27, 2004 at 5:39|
|Yes sir, get both Night Of The Crime and Right Between The Eyes. They both rock!
||Date: September 28, 2004 at 21:16|
|Great band. Great Album. Just a tish better than their debut and quite a bit better than Right Between the Eyes. I own them all and you shoud too! Pick it up!
||Date: September 29, 2004 at 13:56|
|One of my favorite melodic rock/AOR albums ever. There's something unique about the sound, although it's clear that this has that wonderful '80s touch. Not a filler on this one. A timeless classic with a magical feel and beautiful songs. The harmony between vocals, keyboards and guitars is something beyond description.
|From: Axe Machine
||Date: November 29, 2004 at 9:54|
|Fair album, but unfortunately not the classic it is made out to be. Has some good songs but fails to satisfy on the whole. 5/10

|comparing the debut and this album! i like the 1st! because i think this album is AOR! NOT SO HEAVY LIKE ST! BUT IT IS STILL A GREAT ALBUM AND GREAT BAND!
||Date: February 5, 2005 at 23:17|
|only thing from stopping this one to be a monster of a classic is a few off tunes, Radio, Blood, and Hungry are weak in my eyes, but the rest is absolutley amazing and in my listening selection for almost 20 years, Missing, Frozen Tears, Naked Eyes are mini-masterpieces. This album has the hard aor direction cause of Bob Hooligan's songs and where can I find the remaster???
|From: AOR freaky
||Date: February 6, 2005 at 3:29|
|Great one indeed. Maybe not exactly AOR, but a mix between AOR and melodic hardrock. Hope you'll find the remastered version. It was on Axe Killer Records, but I don't think that label exists no longer. Happy searching !
||Date: February 6, 2005 at 9:43|
|Thanks, I will be searching!!!!!
||Date: June 4, 2005 at 18:03|
|for info, this one is being re-released in June!!!!! one of the classic albums from the 80's and best Icon album, great one!!!
||Date: July 20, 2005 at 10:35|
|this and aviator.go together real well.in places.i think the singer sounds like the treat singer.imo...well worth picking up.it maybe that this stuff has been done a thousand times before.but icon do it sooooo well.
||Date: July 20, 2005 at 21:03|
|Have to add to my post from last year, this re-release is class, what a great cd package and sound!!! Not sure why this was not huge. This was a great surprise for this one to be reissued, get it now!!! One of my top releases ever!!!

|Great to see this masterpiece rereleased on the excellent new label Rock Candy Records, from who I expect a lot more great rereleases ! But to be honest : this pearl was already digitally remastered and rereleased on Axe Killer Records a few years ago. Anyway : for those here that still don't have it : BUY IT IMMEDIATELY !
||Date: September 6, 2005 at 14:16|
|It's alright.... don't get outta your tree for it though. One of the most overrated underrated albums of the genre.... you see what we have here is a mixed bag of classic melodic rock and banal trite pish. When they get it right...'Naked Eyes'... it's undeniably brilliant, otherwise it's very ordinary. Just my opinion mind.....
||Date: October 20, 2005 at 13:46|
|KILLER ALBUM!!!Can you imagine DOKKEN with keys or a mixed between KING KOBRA and KEEL?If you can,go and grab it!AORFANS,HARDROCKERS,METALHEADS just buy it!There are no words to describe this cd.Certainly 10 out of 10.

||Date: December 27, 2005 at 12:26|
|man, if I would have to take one album from the 80's with me to an island, this one would really be in the running for my fav album of the 80's, not much to say but amazing, wonderful, brilliant, a masterpiece!!!! writing and songs are just great!!! and get the new remaster!!!!
||Date: May 19, 2006 at 5:51|
|rightly so this should be in the top 25 awesum record not a bad song so well written so diverse, danger calling is fantastic the vocal is superb Missing is like a Queen track but metal it rocks Then the 2 best Take a shot at my heart one of the best rock songs ever written and of course Out for blood sooooo good simply a must have for fans of 80's rock 10/10
||Date: August 8, 2006 at 10:34|
|In my Top 5 of all time, this masterpiece have it all, BIG guitars (Wexler playing Synth Guitar in '85 in a Hard Rock Band! Crazy and Unique), FAT choruses, Awesome songs and a million bucks production. THE BEST ALBUM OF THE 80'S. PERIOD.
||Date: October 23, 2006 at 16:28|
|It's in my top 20 albums of the 80's and when it comes to melodic hard rock it doesn't get better than this. Wonderful songs with the right amount of power and impact. Singer, Stephen Clifford did an amazing job on this album....very different approach from the debut, which is an all out metal effort. RECOMMENDED!
||Date: October 24, 2006 at 11:30|
|Seems like most everyone likes this one, and I too agree! If you've not checked out Icon's other albums, please do so. Great band! I don't know why they were'nt bigger than they were cause they put out some great stuff! I also love the 1st album and Right Between The Eyes as well. Highly recomended!
||Date: November 7, 2006 at 8:38|
|This is one of my favorite albums ALL THE TIME. Just love Stephen Clifford's voice Dan Wexler's guitar playing! The music & lyrics are just amazing, beyond words!! I rate this album 10/10. A MUST HAVE RECORDS IN THE 80's!
||Date: November 26, 2006 at 17:58|
|Hmmmm. The singer suxx. Not sure if I Aggree about this, but the production sucks grande....8/10 from me.
||Date: November 30, 2006 at 17:05|
|I also gave this one an 8 out of 10 only because it's a lot more mellow that their other releases. I still think their self-titled disc is there best effort, it had that edge to it that none of the rest of their albums have. That maybe a production thing though, I just love that raw sound and cheaper productions.
||Date: December 6, 2006 at 13:05|
|Mmnnn'.I have to say that I did remember a big killer cd but it's not totally great,I think it contains 2/3 fillers unfortunately,so the rate can t be 10/10 but 9/10.Great vox,the first 4/5 songs are something spectacular IMO.
||Date: December 6, 2006 at 13:41|
|One of my favourite albums, too. 'Shot at my heart' is the perfect track!!!
||Date: December 13, 2006 at 10:21|
|The first 2 songs sucks, and so it does the ballad 'Frozen tears' but it get better 'Danger Calling','Out for Blood' and 'Raise The Hammer' are actually good. 6/10
||Date: December 15, 2006 at 19:48|
|The best album by ICON, Not exactly AOR but Melodic rock, sounds like DOKKEN w/ keyboards (in a limited way).'Danger Calling' is my personal favorite. A must have. If find it...BUY IT! 8.5/10
||Date: March 26, 2007 at 9:10|
|Not a bad song on here, but I wouldn't be so quick to call it the greatest melodic hard rock release ever. 'Shot At My Heart' and 'Danger Calling' are two incredible melodic hard rock songs though, especially 'Shot At My Heart' with that awesome riff and emotional vocals~ One of my favorite songs. 'Gold Bullets' from the 'An Even More Perfect Union' album is similar to 'Shot At My Heart' and I'll even go as far to say it's better! This is a really good album though, and is recommended.
||Date: November 15, 2007 at 22:23|
|just picked up another copy for the workplace, I am still sticking to my word when I say, hands down, my favorite 80's hard rock album, period, a masterpiece, man, the production, writing, and music is fantastic!!!!
||Date: June 14, 2008 at 14:08|
|By far their best effort and a milestone of melodic hard rock/aor era...More than essential!! 97/100
||Date: August 21, 2009 at 9:44|
|Along with Harem Scarem's selftitled album this is one of my alltime fav's and has been in my top ten AOR/HR albums of all time since it came out all those years ago. The biggest CRIME concerning this release was that it was not HUGE. Melodic Rockers and Metal Heads everywhere love it but why o' why did it not take these guys into the dizzy heights associated with bands such as GNR etc? A must own...
|From: lalo r.o.c.k.
||Date: October 15, 2009 at 13:47|
|What a great materpiece!,all the songs are classics from this underrated band, better than the "great" bands of this year,10/10.
||Date: July 24, 2010 at 11:03|
|Sure it sounds dated by today's production standards...it also sounds freakin' awesome! If you can't get enough of deliciously big commercial hooks the way they were done back in the good ol' 80s, then this CD should fill you with more delight than a holy roller getting a personal visit from Jesus Christ Himself. Bottom line, it should be a crime not to have this album in your melodic hard rock collection.

|Very good cd. 1985 this band should have been big, but not every band can be big. Naked eyes, Shot at my heart, Raise the hammer, & Hungry for love are my top picks. I would put them on the same level as Dokken, but not as good.

|One of the best AOR album ever made. After Clifford left, the band began to suck.
||Date: November 18, 2019 at 11:15|
|Up to track #7 the album is a masterpiece. I don't like the last 3 songs that much. Specially the last song - the mega filler 'Rock my Radio', completely out of place in this album.
