| I know this is a bootleg oficial icon release but the sound is sooooooo bad, just increible bad. I have old 80s bootlegs from all around the world on tapes and most of those tapes sound better then this bootleg. Anyway, i love ICON.

| I have the concert on DVD for a few month now and it is great to watch the band in the original line-up. What a killer concert. The band rocks the stage like there is no tomorrow. Stephen Clifford is absolute brilliant. So brilliant- but sadly gone forever. Good old times.

| The video has really bad audio. Stephen Clifford did email me and said that it was filmed with one of the first video cameras on the market set up in the back of the bar. I still enjoy it but the audio is really frustrating. I am a big Icon fan and sometimes I can barely make out what song it is they are playing. Great visuals that harkens back to the day of Metal. Man I miss the 80's....

| When I said 'So brilliant- but sadly gone forever' I didn´t mean that he is dead. Sorry Stephen!!! What I wanted to say is that he turns his back on the band and on the melodicrock szene a few month after this concert. So he was lost for the fans of this type of music- and sadly never returns.

| It sounds so poor as it was taken from the live video which was out at the same time,but so what? Some songs were recorded before they released their 2nd album "Night Of The Crime",so both lyrics and singing melodies were slightly different.

| Great concert, poor sound. So much killer tunes on here, but sadly the sound is very poor. I have this concert also on dvd-r, copied from the original vhs, fully chaptered and menued. Nice to watch how Stephen Clifford acts on stage. He was an upcoming superstar, and then he throwed it all away by becoming a born again christian. Still pissed about that...

| Phoenix band ICON rises from the ashes at Rocklahoma 7/11/09. But first,I have this Epilogue CD/DVD and the sound is atrocious with the concert originally recorded from a first generation camcorder. For more information about this release and other tid bits direct from the horses mouth(Dan Wexler) paste the first link below. http://www.angelfire.com/az2/phoenixrising/iconint.htm IMO ICON crushed the competition at Rocklahoma this year and should have had a night time slot on the main stage. The new singer Sheldon Tarsha(Alder's Appetite) has the chops and some of that old Stephen Clifford magic. The sound of ICON was/is unique in a large part because of Dan and John's distinctive twin guitar sound(tone).You be the judge as here are links to the band today compared to 25 years ago. Ok i know that this is a bootleg (their most famous one) but i think what it kills this incredible concert was the sound(it was way too bootleg  ) and to be released as an "oficial" record in their incredible career was a little risky...why not an oficial live recording instead??...for collectors item might be nice to have but if you pay for the 50 bucks they ask at ebay's...well not worth it really...anyway apart from this sound detail it is really nice to listen live version of killer tracks such as "Under My Gun","Killer Machine","Rock On Through The Night","Rock & Roll Maniac","Hungry For Love","Rock My Radio","World War","Raise The Hammer","On Your Feet" & "Hot Desert Night"...is better to watch the dvd of this bootleg rather than listening to the cd...for the songs,only for that,i'll rate this 95/100...production and sound...

| Speaking of Rocklahoma, has anybody seen the 2024 lineup? Slipknot, Avenged Sevenfold, Disturbed are to headline. Slipknot? Was GWAR not available? Not exactly enticing enough for me to pack my bags from out west. They sprinkle in a few of the usual suspect hair bands, but still to me it's (yawn). I can't imagine the current genre mix of bands being near as lucrative for concert promoters now, compared to 15+ years ago. There were an estimated 100,000 people (about 30,000 per day) at the first annual Rocklahoma held in(2007). (2009) Lineup: ICON, Hericane Alice, Jackyl, Keel, KIX, Lillian Axe, Lizzy Borden, Silent Rage, Baton Rouge, Bonfire, Great White, L.A. Guns, Nelson, Skid Row, Twisted Sister, Britny Fox, RATT, Helix, Bang Tango, Night Ranger, Warrant, Danger Danger, Lord Tracy, Mass, Stryper, Overkill, Saxon, Metal Church, Anvil, Anthrax, Mad Max, Leather Wolf. | I can't imagine that the promoters would have stuck with the current mix of artists for over a decade if it weren't lucrative, Stallion. You gotta be objective, man. Whether or not you or I like them, all three of the bands you mentioned are bona fide headliners at this point in their careers—which have all spanned at least 20 years by now I might add. The inaugural Rocklahoma was a surprise success because of the novelty of it. I can only guess the law of diminishing returns came into play in successive years—just look at the 2009 lineup you posted. Most of those bands were C-list at best, even in their own day. And now we're all another 15 years older, with the average fan of this music now well into their 50's—the idea of spending a weekend in a field in Possum Dick, Oklahoma, is not as appealing, nor is watching 60-ish never-wuzzes like Hericane Alice sing about being wild, young and cray-zaaaay while you wait. Maybe the Monsters of Rock cruise is a better venue for this kind of th

| Meant to say "while you wait for the handful of headliners. Many of these bands are part-time side-hustles now. Something else to think about: if the current formula wasn't successful from a business standpoint, the same promoters wouldn't have replicated it at countless locations around the shountry. We still have M3 in the Baltimore-DC area for the hardcore hair-metal crowd.

| @Doghouse, you make some valid points. The Rocklahoma 2023 attendance was reported at 60,000 so that's a 40k drop from 2007. 2007-08 was also a big recession, as after 3 years the promotors flipped (mixed) the genre script by 2010. They also changed the date of the shows from mid July 2007-09 to the end of May. In the last 3 years now it's at the end of August. A couple weeks ago a Los Angeles-based promoter acquired Rocklahoma so maybe there will be some changes in the future. As far as drawing major headliners of course even if you have new younger generations of fans the 80's bands can only tour for so long. Pulling a rabbit out of a hat like getting Triumph to come in 2008 was a draw. Of all of the bands that got a major label deal back in the day only about 3% of them made it as far as being financially successful. Speaking of the hardcore hair metal crowd. Many genres in the hard metal crowd (thrash,ect.) take great offense to hair bands(it's their Kryptonite). (CON'T)

| I recently got done watching Metal Evolution (2011) [12 episodes] documentary series on the different genres/subgenres of hard rock/metal. Pretty thorough analysis, starting with Sabbath/Ted Nugent/Kiss/Alice Cooper, and finishing with the last episode with Extreme Metal. I noticed Limp Bizkit, the vanilla Ice of Nu/Metal was at Rocklahoma a few years ago. To me it makes sense to divide different genres over the 3 days at Rocklahoma. I don't see a fan of Avenged Sevenfold being into Winger as a opening act. As far as C-list bands, talent doesn't always translate to mass popularity. This band ICON release Night of the Crime (1985) was voted third best album of all time by Kerrang! magazine readers in 1988. Rated fairly high on HH also. Definitely a niche audience, but I had a few friends who packed their bags from the North East part of the U.S. to Rocklahoma 2007-08 just for those obscure bands that they never got a chance to see live. https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Metal_Evolution

| We all know talentqual;y doesn't always translate to commerciaal success, and we all know (or were) some of those people who would travel across the country, even to Oklahoma, to see these niche acts. The first time. The fourth or fifth? Probably not. (Personally I thought the 2008 lineup with Tora Tora, Every Mother's Nightmare, and I believe Junkyard, was aces, but again—niche bands.) Keeping it somewhat on-topic, and from a somewhat younger perspective, by the time I got into hard rock and metal in 1988-1989, nobody was talking about or playing Icon. There were all sorts of flash-in-the-pan hair bands in those last few years, but Icon were left behind in 1985, despite an attempted comeback of sorts in '89. I never even heard of them until I got online around 2000 and found older rawk dudes like you singing their praises. That's not a judgment of their merit as a band, just to say that they were quickly forgotten.

| Also, comparing the attendance from 2007 and 2023 is more than a little specious. The drop in numbers has to do with many, many factors and can't be attributed to just, "Oh, well, they don't have the bands I like anymore, these modern bands can't draw." It's a little bit like those people who complained that oldies stations no longer played much music from the '50's, not realizing (or realizing all too well) that they had aged out of the money demographic for advertisers. Regardless, 15-plus years after the first Rocklahoma, it's a different world in many ways.
