Excellent 80's sounding indie. A nice mix of ZAZA (Party With The Big Boyz) meets "Sign In Please" era AUTOGRAPH with sprinkles of early DANGER DANGER (Ted Pohley era). This one really took me by surprise and I don't think even the elite collectors know much about it!

From: BrianJ8173 Date: August 20, 2004 at 22:29
I personnally think this cd is awful, guitars sound like they were recorded in a trash can, songs are not very good, and the singer sounds like a 70's easy listening vocalist. Not sure it is worth 2 dollars let alone 200.

From: Willem Date: August 24, 2004 at 5:08
I do agree with Delbert on this one! This really is a great indie, one of the best that entered my collection the past few months. Great AOR with an 80-ies feel, RECOMMENDED!!

From: Joseph K. Date: August 26, 2004 at 18:55
I just got a cdr of this the other day and think it's good!!! I would recommend this to anyone except BrianJ8173 who must have earwax in his ears. They do sound like the band ZaZa to me. Get it for sure and I hope to get the original someday myself.

I'm backing BrianJ on this one...this CD falls WELL short of the hype that's being created to help drive it's Ebay price up. The vocals are very "nasal" and grate on one's nerves after a while, and the drum sound is indeed comparable to that of someone kicking a trash can. The closest these guys will ever get to Autograph or Danger Danger is if they go see those bands in concert. VERY disappointing....

Anyone thinking of going after a copy of this "awesome indie" should contact me via the message board, and I'll send ya some sound samples so you can hear for yourself. DO NOT spend big bucks to acquire this...you will kick yourself later...

From: Dean Date: August 26, 2004 at 19:42
Considering Whiplash will go well out of his way to help people get INTO a band-the fact that he is willing to help people NOT go after this is pretty telling. Either way-now I'm curious.

From: surrf Date: August 27, 2004 at 4:59
No one is going to agree on everyone's tastes. But whiplash and Brian are the only 2 guys I know who don't like it. They are trying their very best to devalue this cd. Probably because they don't own an original. Believe me, this CD is as good as I described it. I'll send mp3s to prove it. It's worth $200 or more anyday!

Exactly Surrf...I'll happily send some MP3s to anyone who'd like to hear them as well so they can judge for themselves. Rare in this case does NOT equal GOOD, or VALUABLE, in my opinion....but hey, that's all it is, is my opinion. You know what they say, "One man's trash is another man's treasure..."

From: Delbert Date: August 28, 2004 at 11:02
To set the playing field even here, we all have to understand that everyone has different musical tastes. I'm sure that many of the bands the nay sayers above adore, I will pick apart with a fury. I stand by my original comments concerning this extremely rare CD! I think most true collectors would love to have this disc in their collections....a real 80's representation.

Delbert...I'm curious as to what your definition of a "TRUE collector" is....I'd like to get your thoughts on that in the Tainted Angel thread that you started on the message board if you don't mind.

From: anamal Date: August 28, 2004 at 12:35
not piss on anyone here..but pumping up a disc that is truly available by the band for under 10 bucks is doing the rest of us collectors injustice..just because 2 "TRUE" collectors have access to the band members and the band cd.. and want to make some easy money by monopolizing on the sale of the cds on ebay or wherever ..still doesnt make the cd a True Collectors piece..my idea of a true Collectors piece is bands like Trash Can Baby..Rott Soxx..but i am just one Collector in a sea of "Collecto

From: BrianJ8173 Date: August 28, 2004 at 14:28
I stand by my opinion of this cd, not very good at all, as far as rare, rare dont always mean good. I didnt know that having an opinion on a cd means that you are not a collector, and therefore know very little about cd's and how much they are worth. What might be worth 200 to me might only be worth 50 cents or less to another. People should be able to state their opinion without being told they are trying to devalue a cd, that ridiculous as I am seller myself.

From: Delbert Date: August 29, 2004 at 16:28
Whiplash....I don't believe this is the right forum, but, to answer your question...I think most of the people who read these pages are "true" collectors. They are not just CD accumulators, but guys and gals who love music and go after what appeals to them with a passion. A "True" collector is Veracious, Steadfast, Actual or faithful at what he does. I use the word true collector to distinguish those like us from someone who buys a CD occasionally and puts it in a stack with some others he/she b

From: Delbert Date: August 29, 2004 at 16:34
bought over the past year. So, in the statement above, I suppose the word true was a wasted word in the sentence!

From: surrf Date: August 29, 2004 at 22:34
Anamal you have no proof whatsoever on this access to Tainted Angel CDs. If it's a $10 CD, let's see you get it. Your facts are ALL WRONG and I don't appreciate your lies here. NO PROOF!!!!! I've seen your auctions and the ridiculous reserves you set on mediocre, easy to get cds....amazing how Anamal can criticize me and an awesome cd like this one yet thinks Trash Can Baby is rare and good??? Yuck!

From: jessica96fish Date: August 31, 2004 at 11:45

Absolutely jessica. I can see how one would take the word of an ebay seller who is commenting on a CD that he has up for auction and wants to make as much as he can off of over the word of someone who is simply stating their unbiased opinion on a CD they've heard. I plan on posting an MP3 from this CD later on in the week so that everyone here can listen & judge for themselves if the comparisons being made are accurate or not.

Ok folks, give Tainted Angel a listen at: http://www.geocities.com/Whiplash1972/download3.html I've posted the title track for download, and will change that MP3 out for another one if I receive enough inquiries from those interested in this one. Danger Danger? Autograph? Za Za? Bad 70's bar band? You make the call!

From: anamal Date: August 31, 2004 at 18:33
surrf...relax..i wasnt be critical of you..i mentioned no names..and you must have me confused about ebay auctions..i very rarely list on ebay ..i can wait till the price of the tainted angel drops so i can afford it..or until the band starts to list them at a more reasonable price...

From: Dean Date: August 31, 2004 at 20:19
Granted I've heard only the tune that Whiplash has posted but the production on this makes them sound like every bad 80's bar band combined into one. The guitarist's rythym tone is just bad(sounds like someone playing a Hondo guitar through a Gorilla amp-remember those?) but the vocal harmonies aren't really that bad. If i saw this cheap I'd pick it up just to give the whole thing a chance but in no way would i go out of my way to search this one out.

From: Joseph K. Date: August 31, 2004 at 21:52
I have heard this song already after going to Mr. Whiplash's site and I like it! It sounds even better on cd. There must be others who will like this band's music. It's a winner in my book so far. One could pick many other bands to disagree about being good or bad sounding. Why the big controversy? The rest of the cd has even better songs and only a few slow ones. This is my opinion.

From: jessica96fish Date: September 28, 2004 at 3:28
just got this one.ot ain't bad.maybe it don't sound like some of the bands like zaza danger danger.can't really say who they sound like.but as for the comments about surff and delbert saying its good just to sell a cd.all i can say is i've delt with both.and they never have sold me anything bad.i ask if its worth buying.if they think its only ok.they will tell me so.and they don't hype anything up.

From: Ali rock Date: December 3, 2004 at 8:39
I just recieved this cd in the mail. How can you guys like this cd is unbelievable. I think it's absolutely. One of the worst Indies I heard in a long time, and I have heard alot. The worst thing is the production. How can you even consider this to sound good. I made better sounding recordings the first weeks of my sound engineerer course. If you wnat me to send samples as proof I can do that. It's up to everyone to think a cd is good, it's nice that everybody in the world doesn't have the same

From: Ali Rock Date: December 3, 2004 at 8:40
same taste. But to say that this cd has a good sound, production is absolutely crazy. It doesn't sound goooooooddddddd!!!! Not even the songs are good, not even average. And Delbert (I usually think your comments are good) how can you even consider to compare this cd to Danger Danger and Autograph. It's a crime against these lovely bands.

From: DSB-RECORDS Date: February 8, 2007 at 10:27
Really a nice CD and essential for any AOR collection-despite the different tastes written down here.Everybody should accept that Indy Releases may not have the best Sound,so comparisons with Major Labels Bands like Autograph or Danger Danger explain the style, but mostly not the quality of production of these. In my eyes this CD has a very good production nevertheless.

From: smiley89 Date: September 3, 2010 at 16:04
Another one I forgot I had in my collection. Don't really know if it is "rare" or not. There seems to be two very different view points about this one. I'm right in the middle. It's not as good as some say (does have weak production) but it's not that bad either. If you find it at a reasonable price then pick it up. It's better than a lot of crap that has been forced on us by the music companies over the last few years!
