This is the best album from Black n'Blue, Rockin in heavens door, without love, stop the lightning, Nature of the beach, Miss Mystery ( great ballad) and same old song and dance are the best!!!Jamie st. James is great, good time of rock and roll. This cd is a classic from 80s. buy it!!!!!!!

From: Mike G. Date: July 25, 2001 at 10:52
Great 80's metal!!!! Very underrated!! This album should have put them on top!! If you love good time, melodic hard rock, by all means, GET IT!!!!!

From: Ronnie Date: September 30, 2001 at 1:31
One of the best "Fun" albums out of the 80's......Hard to get....They have a greatest hits Cd out now with a few of the songs from here...Get it!!

From: Date: October 31, 2001 at 12:17
This was one of my favorite from these guys! Does anyone know if "Miss Mystery" was used in a movie? Black N Blue should have made it BIG!!! They still have a big following and are thinking of getting back together. Good luck finding this one cheap! I am sure they will re-release it.

From: metal_man73 Date: October 31, 2001 at 12:18
oops! I forgot to put my name on that comment^^^^^^^^

From: G_Mack Date: November 1, 2001 at 0:07
Yeah this is good album. Jon Bon Jovi heard this and knew that was the sound he wanted. So he got the producer, Bruce Fairburn to produce 'Slippery when Wet'-- Or so the story goes. Listen to it. It sounds like it could be 'Slippery Pt. 1' BnB's next, 'Nasty Nasty' was good too, but produced by Gene Simmons, who made them sound kind of like Kiss.

From: Tony Date: April 29, 2002 at 19:24
Oh man I agree what a fun , summertime, windows rolled down pop metal album. Severely underrated band and could have been huge if they continued in this vein but Gene Simmons just DEMOLISHED these guys chances and that's a shame. Really if you can get this it's just a great toe-tapper smile on your face the whole time with the headphones on album. Man when this came out I played it to death and I still dig it.

From: Steve T Date: May 20, 2002 at 8:40
I agree that Gene Simmons killed the band stone dead. The next 2 albums were good and average in turn but got nowhere near this album. Gene Simmons should be ashamed of himself (yeah right...that'll happen)

From: HOTROD Date: October 14, 2002 at 2:26
I recently dusted off the LP I have of this, threw it on the turn-table, and wondered to myself how this album didn't become a huge hit. The first five songs (side one on the ole LP) are as good as any hard rock album of the 80's. TOP NOTCH!!!

From: HairMetalManiac Date: November 16, 2002 at 14:26
Awesome release by these guys...the first 5 tracks are superb and track 7 is very good as well...Track 9 is my absolute fav...I think this is the best of the 4 main releases (well, I've only heard a few tracks off of Nasty Nasty and I refuse to pay $100+ for a CD)...Just saw them live at the Revolution in Cleveland and they still sounded awesome...Highly recommended CD!!

From: Trick Taylor Date: December 20, 2002 at 15:01
Count me among the thousands who think this album is incredible! I bought it when it first came out and it remains top 10 in my book. Word has it that they are trying to re-issue the whole catalog, check crazyplanet.com. Gene Simmons should be neutered for turning these guys into hack corded rock pigs. Or maybe Jaime and the boys got nervous and thought Gene would lead them to the money. Ask Gypsy Rose, Gene does no good for anybody except himself. "Without Love" is a must have album.

This band must be cursed; that's the only explanation as to why this album didn't go to the top of the charts. "Rockin' on Heaven's Door" & "Two Wrongs (Don't Make It Love)" should've dominated American radio. These guys blew away 99% of their competition, thanks to an incredibily monstrous pop-metal sound. Ask me to name the top 20 CDs I can't live without and this gem will be on the list, no doubt about it. A must-own classic for anyone who loves big, explosive hair-metal.

From: pablo Date: August 30, 2003 at 15:00

From: Vicrock Date: September 20, 2003 at 21:12
Hey, Black and Blue was the master of the finale of the 80`s hard rock, listen trixter and you Know what i say. B& B create a new hard rock style, and nobody say it. And the boy who say that this band suck and motley crue rules its a jerk. Black and blue rules, motley only have two decent records.

From: 9 CHAMPIONS A 1 Date: October 4, 2003 at 7:15

From: keebler Date: October 7, 2003 at 21:20
this is the last cd i bought of theirs it has it's moments but i don't think it's as good as the first one.

From: chase..(ya kno) Date: October 28, 2003 at 12:59
This is one of my superior favorites of all time!! Miss Mistery is the hotest and coolest I ever got!! Dont hesitate a minute its now rereleased so hurry up -It has to be expensive in a while again. 80s rock at its best*****!!

From: Metal Pete Date: January 29, 2004 at 19:01
Black n' Blue were terrific, and this was their best. The first one is fantastic, and it only got better on this release. Anybody know that they have re-formed (without Thayer, guitarist) and are releasing a new one VERY soon...aptly enough, it's to be named "Hell Yeah!". :-)

From: red Date: February 5, 2004 at 0:10
I loved Black -n- Blue, but this was definitely their worst album. Way too commercial, no edge at all.

From: Dean Date: March 7, 2004 at 15:01
As far as hard rock goes the first two Black and Blue discs will always be at the top of my list. Commercial? Sure but who cares- they rock like a bitch. Really curious to hear how Warrant will sound with Jamie St. James singing. No offence to Jani but i think Jamie is a much better singer and i think some of those older Warrant tunes are gonna sound pretty intense.

From: Jörg Date: April 28, 2004 at 10:04
this is Killer-CD, i love it so much, great Party-Sound, Love it or hate. JÖRG "THE IRON POSTMAN OF STEEL" From germany

From: damage Date: May 27, 2004 at 14:39
This is in my top 100 albums of all time. Totally under-rated band. Their first 3 albums are all great (not good...GREAT) and their 4th and final album was very good as well. Such a shame it never happened for these guys. I used to buy albums from bands I didn't know and listen to them and put them in two piles, one for those that I thought would be huge and one for those that I thought would just disappear. I was was right 95% of the time, but not about Black N Blue. BUY ALL OF THEIR ALBUMS!!!!

From: jessica96fish Date: July 13, 2004 at 6:45
this is a must have cd.now when are we gonna have the new one out?hell yeah!!!!!!!!!!this band rocks.

From: Mike Wilson Date: August 8, 2004 at 18:54
Arguably the best Black 'N Blue CD. My personal favorite because of the songs Without Love and Miss Mystery. Black 'N Blue is my all-time favorite '80s Metal band. Got to meet Jamie St. James last night (August 7, 2004). He informed me of a new Black 'N Blue CD coming out called "Hell Yeah". Can't wait to hear it! Jamie does a great job singing for Warrant! Buy all four Black 'N Blue CDs or your only cheating yourself out of the best rock music ever! Can't wait for a Jamie-fronted Warrant CD!

From: paul rock Date: August 28, 2004 at 16:50
I recently bought the re-issue thank god not the expensive one) and find it a truly classic

From: AOR freaky Date: September 7, 2004 at 18:51
Decent CD, BUT NOT GLAM !!!!!!! What kind of idiot categorized this as glam ? ! It's melodic hardrock, nothing more, nothing less, and done well !

From: mattboy71 Date: October 2, 2004 at 14:14
Looking back, B&B was one of the better acts out there that should have been bigger...many may disagree, but I loop B&B in there with Autograph. Both wrote very catchy and crafty songs with hooks. I love "Nature Of The Beach." That one just takes me back to 1985 with a big smile on my face.

From: Chad Date: October 2, 2004 at 22:37
A bit more polished than the debut but my favorite of the Black and Blue catalog. Almost popish at times but the songs are very strong. Jamie is at his best. I feel that this is maybe too overproduced. They should have just let the boys in a room, plug in and hit the record button. Never seen 'em live but I bet they would have been KILLER. Standout tracks: Miss Misery, Swingtime, Stop the Lightening and the title track. All are good though. On my must have album list. 10/10

From: Kryiis Karl Date: October 19, 2004 at 2:43
Maybe it is because I'm not a hair metal / FM or Glam die hard but I believe there are at least 100000 better recordings than this one in the music industry.

From: theus Date: January 31, 2005 at 11:46

From: Jimbo Date: February 12, 2005 at 13:09
Black 'N Blue's most poppy CD, Without Love is guaranteed to bring back memories of cruising and beach tripping. With sing along choruses, bouncy melodies, an enigmatic singer and tight production by Bruce Fairbairn, this one should be on the radar of any fan wishing to find the best music that the hair metal decade had to offer. File among the ranks of Autograph, Cinderella and Britny Fox. One of the unsung hereos of the genre. Solid 9/10.

From: z4roxx Date: February 12, 2005 at 18:18
Never liked so much this band,I find these guys very very average without stunning songs except the first 2 tracks of this one and some other few song in the other cd's.Maybe my fave BnB album is the last one but again, never impressed by this band....

From: Geoff Date: March 10, 2005 at 18:26
'Rockin' on heaven's door' is essential commercial hard rock, and as far as I'm concerned 'Miss Mystery' is easily the best song these guys ever did, and nothing short of stunning - worth the price alone. I'm one of the few who thought these guys were just good, but not overly great. Good solid hard rock, always enjoyable.

From: Dreamaholic Date: June 2, 2005 at 7:35
Like their 1st album, I've got this one on tape also (couldn't find it on CD). The band hit their peak with this one. Not sure if I would pay the eBay price but it is a damn good album.

From: SCANDI Date: June 2, 2005 at 8:51
Hi Dreamaholic (cool name..) -> All the albums had been rereleased some years ago. Especially for this one the price went out of the roof before, but now it's easy to get (e.g. schmankerl-records). I didn't buy it 'cos for my taste it's a bit too 'rough' and too much glam hardrock..

From: wings Date: December 19, 2005 at 20:14

From: mauricio Date: December 27, 2005 at 16:32

From: mauricio Date: December 27, 2005 at 16:32

From: wings Date: December 29, 2005 at 21:11
Hey guyz...(and gals)..I love black n blue...and Im looking for they're complete discography. Anyone have it (or any of it) that they can send to me in MP3 form. find me at wings@snipergamez.com

From: Rafo Phoenix Date: March 4, 2006 at 8:50
Very Good Melodic Hard Rock album, Glam???

From: firetruckdriver Date: November 3, 2006 at 1:10
One of my favorite bands to come out of the mid 80's, and one of my all time favorites. Love every album they did! Would recomend each and every one of them. But may be especially partial to this one. Good, solid album!

From: Metalmusicman Date: January 1, 2007 at 15:15
This one comes in as my third favorite from this band. Again a hit and miss kind of thing, but again what is good is oh so good!!! "Without Love", "Miss Mystery", and "Bombastic Plastic" again are just off the hook. I just wish this band could find a little more consistancy. So as usual good, but just not great.

From: rockhardrock Date: March 24, 2007 at 8:44
so damn good as their debut.good hooks and very good production. My personal fav."stop the lightening"."miss mystery"is great 80s ballad(also the video is great).I also recommend you"nature of the beach","without love","bombastic plastic"(this ones slow but its got heavy rhythm)."rockin on heavens door" isnt so good(i mean the whole song), but the guitar solo is superb.Black n blue should have been more famous-they deserve it.

From: tywallick Date: August 7, 2007 at 19:22
I am stumped and have been since 1985 on this......on the song Rockin' on Heavens Door - what are lyrics after "rock, rocking on heavens door - it's everything I'm livin for _______________________________________, rock rockin on heavens door. Anyone???

From: RockMan10 Date: August 19, 2007 at 2:59
Flat out, hands down one of the best discs in the hard rock genre. This is one of my top 5 out of the 80's along with: Ratt - Out of the Celler Whitesnake - s/t Def Leppard - Pyromania Rough Cutt - s/t

From: edwithmj Date: October 16, 2008 at 20:50
I don't know which is better, this or their self titled! Brilliant from start to finish. I LOVE the soulful solo in Stop the Lightning. This provs to all the St James haters who say he ruined Warrant that he HAS talent and is a great singer!

From: mrsexx Date: April 18, 2009 at 19:16
another one of the greatest albums ever!

From: hair metal again Date: January 21, 2010 at 8:45
excellent release by BLACK N BLUE ,a real professional one with great production by bruce fairbairn and the invaluable help of the great jim vallance.this is nearly perfect for me and so talented.listen to the masterpiece "miss mystery", the anthemic "rockin on heavens door",the smashing "bombastic plastic" and you get a strong dose of hard rockin music.great guitars by thommy too.brilliant!

From: rocksoul Date: March 10, 2011 at 14:01
great band and great album. They will come back with a new album from frontiers records.....I'm waiting it! Rock on!

From: rick kerch vzla Date: April 14, 2013 at 16:16
Better than their debut one IMO...some good songs in the shape of "Rockin'On Heaven's Door","Without Love"(great!),"Stop The Lightning"(catchy),"Miss Mystery"(nice AORish),"We Got The Fire"(catchy)& "Strange Things"...85/100

From: Buitre Date: May 15, 2013 at 10:03
Black 'n Blue are not 100% my cup of tea as they are very, very soooft. Anyway, this one is their best release and I listen to it every now and then. The songs are ok, the production is great and so is the sound.

From: edwithmj Date: November 2, 2017 at 19:45
Time to expand... I still don't know which is better: this or the debut. This is some fine hard rock here. Knickin' On Heaven's Door as a super chorus, Without Love with its unforgettable riff, Stop The Lightning has an incredible melodic solo, the ballad Miss Mystery and the hard rocking We Got The Fire remain essential to me. The album is a bit less raw and more polished than the debut but the energy is still there with an ever so slightly softer sound.

From: edwithmj Date: November 2, 2017 at 19:50
Damn, I wish we could edit comments. I meant Rockin' on Heaven's Door has a super chorus not "Knickin'"!

From: jaroslav Date: June 12, 2023 at 17:15
Phenomenal songs, funny, beautiful and seriously rock, unique, listen and die...
