This is the band at their best. These songs rock harder and are more original than some of their later stuff

From: to˝o chile Date: November 5, 2001 at 3:02
this former part of a classic favorite hard rock album in all music that i like it,really great album, the best record of black n' blue.

From: WidoMakr Date: January 19, 2002 at 3:50
All I can say is I saw these guyz in the 80's and I still remember the show like it was yesterday...1st class kick as band...EVERY song on every album ROCKS!!!!a definite addition to any collection...if u dont mind having a second mortgage...ebay prices...ouch...but honestly a great band...another band its a shame arent around anymore...quote the WidoMakr....never more

From: Kim Date: June 18, 2002 at 13:02
Why dont they release this again.????? Its totally idiotic that rockers should pay this much for this. Its good but 100 of dollars.???

From: Don Date: July 13, 2002 at 18:29
I'm going to get angry responses to this, but . . . one word: over-rated.

From: Rockforever Date: July 24, 2002 at 12:46
No Don you're not going to get an angry response from me.Overrated is perhaps the wrong word. Black N Blue were typical (whatever typical means in this case!) of the trashy late-80s glam-metal, Motley Crue-wannabes that clogged up the charts. The difference is that the Crue had talent (and by no means were all of their records consistent),whereas this band's attempt to sound hard and sleazy merely made them sound tired and formulaic.Hair metal was awful; this band were one of the worst.

From: Purrfect Kat Date: July 24, 2002 at 15:10
ummm whoever said hair metal was awful made that statement without ever hearing half of the hair bands out there....Black N Blue is a good band and many of their songs are well written and produced.....whether it's hair bands or country and western etc,,, It all starts to sound the same after awhile and that's why Much Music & Radio stations change the style they will play on their broadcasts every decade.....It's all about what the kids want today and not about any Rock bands with talent which

From: Purrfect Kat Date: July 24, 2002 at 15:21
awww hell....I had alot typed up but the message box didn't display it all..."shrugs"....anyways..(In my opinion) .The hair bands were the best thing to ever happened to Rock and why they get shunned now is beyond me...If anyone has some rare hair bands cds they want to get rid of because they think they suck then please contact me and I will make an offer for every one you have ...email...rocku4ever@hotmail.com

From: Kim Date: July 25, 2002 at 2:14
Rockfever. Well its a matter of opinion. Black`n Blue did sound tired, but that was on their 4 th release. Until then they were one of the best. I think. You call them late 80s Glam-Metal. Well their first release was made in 1984. I agree that Motley Crue were in a special class. True, but Black`n Blue were just behind, and especially this release is a musf for any fan of that style. And even a must for any hard rock fan. Keep rockin``

From: Drag-in-Bones Date: July 25, 2002 at 22:38
Hay Don ,More Than angry!!!

From: Toronto17 Date: November 16, 2002 at 2:31
Hey Don, You have to be kidding! Motley Crue had more talent than Black N' Blue? Vinve Neil waas Vince Neil but Jaime St. James had a hell of a better stronger and better voice than vince Neil on his worst day!!! If you'd ever truly listened to all of their cd's, you would come to the same conclusion! Being a Portland guy I'm biased but let's get seious, Motley Crue was in a special class and ye they put on a show but if you're talking about a tight cohesive unit Black N' Blue beat Motley Crue h

From: M. Allen Date: February 11, 2003 at 15:52
This CD packs enough power and energy to blast a rocket to the moon and back. For an early 80s release, production sounds pretty darn good, and anyone who appreciates the loud guitars, strong hooks, shout-along choruses, and gang backing vocals that defined the 80s hair-metal movement will love this album. Were they Motley Crue wannabes? Hardly. Motley Crue only wished they sounded this good...

From: StayHeavy13 Date: February 17, 2003 at 23:18
awesome album!!!

From: WC Date: March 12, 2003 at 10:07
Almost 20 years old and it still sounds great!!! Hair Band? ok 80's Glam? sure Regardless, this is one of the great UNDERRATED bands/albums from the 80's... an unknown classic!!!

From: MT Thunder Date: April 15, 2003 at 16:04
This is B&B best album. They attained extensive air play with "Hold on to 18"but the true ROCKING song is "Chains Around Heaven". This is a very good album to have. I would have to agree with some comments that this is probably their best album. Good vocal and good musicians who were probably grossly underrated.

From: bob Date: May 16, 2003 at 5:04
Why are their cd's so expensive???

From: wolfsram Date: May 20, 2003 at 1:40
Dieter Dierks' production made this great band even better here...A classic.

From: superbird Date: June 29, 2003 at 12:16

I just heard that all BnB releases will be rereleased. Does anyone know if thats true.??? I would love to buy them instead of the crappy cdr┤s Ive got.

From: Blue Tequila Date: August 16, 2003 at 7:21
According to melodicrock.com UK record label Majestic Rock Records will be re-releasing their 4 studio albums with new sleeve notes on Aug 18 and their new studio album Hell Yeah! will be released late this year (was set for Sept 22 but was pushed back I believe) on Z Records.

From: Metalhead Date: August 21, 2003 at 16:58
I'll stick to what Don & Rockforever said. This is overrated. But HairMetal was awful?!!, he doesn't belong here!!! Anyway, yes, they sound powerful, and St. James vocals are have more power than Vince Neil, but this band doesn't have that special thing that can make a band big! And their songs, they don't hold up to Motley's .

From: Great Dane Date: August 23, 2003 at 15:12
Heyyy. Just bought all 4 rereleases. Damn that was a great band. Thanks Blue Tequila. Went down to my local CD *Pusher* and he got them for me within 4 days. Cool cd┤s

Debut colosal de una grandisima banda de hard rock ,los temas tienen un gancho comercial enorme y sus estribillos son excelentes ,mencion aparte para jamie st james q lo borda en los lead vocals

Hey you Black and blue band, hurry, your fans needs a video remembranza, you know, a collection of video clips or a concert. Look all the fans up of all the world!

i used to play this cd alot i love wicked bitch.

From: Fat Freddy Date: January 2, 2004 at 20:23
I still have this sumbitch on vinyl, and if the CD version is so hard /expensive to find nowadays then I guess I'm going to have to settle for it... even though it's got a skip in the best song, "The Strong Will Rock." Oh well.

From: Date: January 3, 2004 at 17:45
All of Black N'Blue's CD's have been re-released on Majestic Records for anybody wanting them. Go here to order http://www.majesticrock.com/catalogue.php

From: Fat Freddy Date: January 5, 2004 at 19:27
Useless trivia on this album: Black N Blue were the first hard rock/metal band to sign to the then-new Geffen Records label. Betcha didn't know that!

From: Metal Pete Date: February 19, 2004 at 13:02
Yeah but did you hear this? Warrant have reformed...guess who on vocals? :-) Jaime St James! Not a joke. Go to sleazeroxx.com and read for yourself. Or Metal Sludge. 'Hell Yeah' will still be completed, but Jaime is now the frontman for a revamped WARRANT!!!!

From: Elton Braga Date: April 20, 2004 at 13:58
1 weak band like so many others! Nothing else...

From: Rycheage Date: April 29, 2004 at 22:51
It's all rebellious anthems about staying young and fighting for rock and roll. You wouldn't have to listen to a song called 'The Strong Will Always Rock' or 'Hold On To 18' to know that. There are a ton of hard riffs throughout, which qualify 'I'm The King' and 'Autoblast' as quality metal contenders. 'Show Me The Night' features the brilliant soloing of Thayer and a tight rhythm section. Highly recommended!!

From: Ghislain Date: June 3, 2004 at 19:27
hy, I am looking for few bands I am ready to pay for I want them in MP3 CD. I am looking for Autograph, Alias both albums, Southgang, Mindstorm, Night Ranger, Cry Wolf, Sleeze Beez, Darby Mills, Cold Sweat, Company of wolves, Dillinger, Tangier. I am trying to get all the albums from these bands. ghislaindoiron@hotmail.com

From: Great Dane Date: September 7, 2004 at 23:41

From: MONK Date: September 20, 2004 at 17:19

From: Metalhead Date: September 21, 2004 at 23:21
Still can't believe how many people find this band great. Yes, the songs have this rebellious themes and anthemic BUT!, that's all there is to it. Their playing is below average compared to other 80's band like Racer X or Bang Tango. I think, with their playing, they can be compared with Twisted Sister. But TS is WAY too better in songs than this pathetic band.

From: Chad Date: October 2, 2004 at 22:33
A damn good album. I remember waiting for this release back in the day FOREVER. I swear it was pushed back for two years. They should have been huge. Up there with the Motleys, Ratts and Bon Jovi's. Jamie St. James is a perfect fit for this type of rock and roll. He is a great guy. Met him this summer touring with Warrant. Standout tracks of course Hold onto 18, The Srong will rock, Wicked Bitch and the School of Hard Knocks. Easily a 8/10.

From: gener8tr Date: October 15, 2004 at 17:32
Black N' Blue's playing was "below average?" Okay, METALHEAD, you're right... That's why Tommy Thayer is the newest lead guitarist for KISS, because he sucks, right? I'm sure you think Ace was shitty, too, huh? Bang Tango??? There's a band that went real far!

From: Scott Date: October 15, 2004 at 20:57
Some of you need to take a metal history lesson. Motley Crue wanna-be? Black'nBlue made their debut on the same 1982 Metal Massacre compilation as bands like Ratt, Cirith Ungol & Metallica. In other words, B'nB were not some "Crue wanna-bes" as they started around the same time as Crue. This is a solid METAL CD with tons of testosterone injected anthems. I am still hoping that the universe re-aligns itself and put B'nB back together with Tommy, and Kiss with Ace!

From: Metalhead Date: October 21, 2004 at 23:22
Yes, I absolutely agree with you, gener8tr, Black N'Blue played incredibly well that they are still huge today. And Tommy Thayer is still kicking Van Halen's & Vai's asses on guitar polls to this day. He still figure prominently on different polls after so many years without an album, unlike Eric Johnson.

From: Dean Date: November 27, 2004 at 13:43
Um Gener8tr, with no disrespect to Kiss or Tommy Thayer, Kiss's strong side was not their musical ability. They wrote strong catchy songs that were extremely marketable. Peter Criss was probably one of the worst drummers to ever make it big and Ace's ability pretty much depended on how screwed up he was every night. Black and Blue were awesome at writing great hard rock, nothing more, nothing less. This album had the perfect attitude for a pissed off teenager(me).

From: christo Date: December 1, 2004 at 10:01
some kick ass stuff here

From: Geoff Date: March 10, 2005 at 18:18
'Hold on to 18' and 'Wicked bitch' are highlights from this. This is good early 80's metal. Black n'Blue were never my fave of all, but they were a good band indeed. Good hard rock.

From: BIG-TIME Date: March 16, 2005 at 11:34
The singer sounds like something from the punk era, terrible voice. Black 'n' Blue have a good sound and the music is good but the vocals are crap, alot of people say there not keen on B'N'B thats because of the singer...if the singer is bad then people are turned of or say there not that keen on them. Get the like's of sebastian bach and they would be awesome, I like the band for the music but its hard to like the singer.

From: Swriter Date: March 20, 2005 at 13:44
good album with some killer songs and some fillers, the great ones are fantastic, Hold On to 18, Strong, Wicked, Action(cool Sweet cover) and Show. This is mid 80's metal with a touch of glam, mainly the singer's voice, good stuff, just wish half of the album was as great as the other half.

From: Dreamaholic Date: June 2, 2005 at 7:24
This is a good one, I've got it on tape (never found it on CD). A friend of mine turned me on to B 'n B back in '88. This album is raw but the songwriting is pretty good, setting it head shoulders above first releases by Ratt, Crue, Great White, and others back then. eBay price is much more reasonable than some of their other stuff.

Ahh this album is their best...all the songs rule. Shoulda been at least as big as Ratt...Alas, they werent but we still have this gem to cherish. I love THE STRONG WILL ROCK, AUTOBLAST, HOLD ON TO 18, and especially WICKED BITCH, which sounds like a Ratt song. Havent heard IM THE KING, but apparently its supposed to be awesome...as the guy above says...8/10

This one is my favorite in the Black N Blue catalog, but as with all their material it is hit and miss. This one just has more hits than misses for me I guess. Their sound is like that of a million other 80's metal bands that were swamping the scene at the time. There is some very strong material here like "Strong Will Rock", "Hold On To 18", "Wicked Bitch", and "Autoblast". Out of the Black N Blue catalog, this is the one I recomend the most.

From: rockhardrock Date: August 15, 2007 at 16:20
just like their next album this is another gem of the 80s."Hold On To 18" is awsome and my fave song of bnb."School Of Hard Knocks","Wicked Bitch" and "I'm The King" are great too. Great riffs and rhythm that is what i love and bnb got that.

From: lalorock Date: October 6, 2007 at 18:13
Album de excelente Hard Rock con toques AOR,los temas tienen unas guitarras desgarradoras, sino escuchen The strong will rock este tema tiene un riff repetitivo que te engancha, asi mismo School of hard knocks, pero la gloria viene con Hold On to 18 temazo con esa fuerza que solo Black ┤n Blue puede imprimirle, coros y guitarras maravillosos vienen tambien con Wicked Bith,Show me the night,One for the money,el cover Action de Slade tambien tiene lo suyo, hard rock del bueno y con estilo ˙nico,9/10.

From: rockhardrock Date: May 26, 2009 at 17:35
defenitely their strongest effort and also their best. why didn't they become hug with this record is anyone's guess. my favs: The Strong Will Rock, School Of Hard Knocks, Hold On To 18 (number one), Wicked Bitch and I'm The King

From: rick kerch vzla Date: January 2, 2012 at 17:08
A good debut undoubtebly but i wasn't blown away with it to be honest, still enjoyable though...my faves are "School Of Hard Knocks","Autoblast","Action"(reminds me of Hanoi Rocks!),"Show Me The Night","One For The Money" & "I'm The King"(the best cut of the album IMO)...81/100

From: edwithmj Date: January 3, 2012 at 8:37
I was interested in Tommy Thayer's back catalogue so sought this debut album from Black 'N Blue a while ago. It's a very loud, raw disc with no ballads and just rockers like School of Hard Knocks, Wicked Bitch, I'm The King and a brilliant cover of Action. The best song is indubitably Hold On To 18 though. Not as melodic as Without Love but this dics packs more of a punch.
