With 'Wild America' Tora Tora released a less poppish, less of a restrained album than their 1st, 'Surprise Attack'. You will enjoy both of the albums in similar degrees but in different ways. For example, 'SA' features better songwriting and perhaps a few more sing-a-longs. In 'WA', instead of compromising the music for the lyrics it occurs via versa. The music is much harder-hitting and less glam-like than their first; this was the band coming into their own. It's too bad we never quite did.

Man I don't know about this album. Bought the thing and even saw them on this tour but this cd has not stood the test of time for me. To me solely in my opinion it suffered from the same ailment that happened to a lot of bands second albums in this genre and time in music. Kinda laid all their musical cards on the table for the first albums which were hits and rushed into the studio which is why these songs seem "forced" to me. Just very generic hard rock.

I like this album. Maybe it isn't as good as the first, but I do feel the same as Dokken6008. They were do things a little different and coming into their own. I read about this album when it came out and the band said that they had written about 40 songs for this album. Maybe they should have focused on about 12 songs. Anyway, I still think it is a really good album. But, where are they now??

Great album!Heavy rock n'Roll with some bluesy roots.All songs are hits.Anthony corder has a voice full of feeling and emotions in the ballads but can also make the rockers rock! That is music that talk to your HEART, it contains all the up and down of life in one cd! GREAT TALENT! I guess that's why they disapeared .Bands who know how to write true songs and how to play weren't in the standards of the 90'ies...i will never understand that decade...

Almost in same level with the first album. Nice lyrics. The song "Wild America" is a very good intro track. You won't be upset to take this record. Tora Tora had to release more albums.

I gotta put this one just a shade past the debut. This one gets an 8.5, the last one a straight 8. Remember my Great White/Tesla comarison? This CD veers a little more in the Tesla direction, and Corder tones down the high singing through his nose. Interesting sidenote: I remember hearing "nowhere to Go But Down" on Rock 103 in Blatimore back in the day, but never really registering it until I heard it again on this CD. THe FIzz picks: 1, 2, 4, 5, 7, and 10.

This is a great bluesy hard rock album! Great vocals by Anthony Corder, indeed. The guitar work is cool, too. Most of all, I loved the bluesy, warm sound and all the arrangements. "Dead Man's Hand" is a shot of energy, always puts me in a good mood! Highly reccomended.

Slightly above average release from the "hair" era. Aggressive yet bluesy, like Skid Row meets Tesla(gotta agree with the Fizzy One). Lots of strong tracks with minimal filler.

Finally got this one off of Ebay and I was 100% happy with it. Heavily influenced by Tesla but def. kicks ass on it's own. I don't see how anyone could call this generic-this is hard rock played the way it's supposed to be played. No frills and straight to the point.

oh yeah, this is a good cd.I have tons of stuff but i regulary pick up this one because it's filled with good ol' rock n roll. My favorite song is 'amnesia'.

Somewhere in between Tesla and what Aerosmith was doing at the time, very good. I saw them on this tour in Baltimore and they were a great live band as well.

Boy....tough call for me as to whether I like this better or Surprise Attack. I think this is a smidge higher..mainly because of the song "Dead Mans Hand"....LOVE the big production, LOVE the kick drum at the beginning of this song. "Shattered", "Dirty Secrets" and of course "Amnesia" are the other stand out tracks for me.

Davie- I hope you are accurate in the recording of Tora Tora #3. It is sooooo due. Leave it to Tora Tora to give the music scent a kick in the ass! How cool would it be to see a Motley Crue 2005 Tour with Tora Tora and Bang Tango openers! Not likely, but a guy can dream.....

Very good follow up to the debut. This one is slightly heavier and has some great songs such as "Dead Mans Hand", "Amnesia", and "As Time Goes By". 8/10

This is light years from the debut. While that was good, this was much better (IMO). "Wild America", "Amnesia", "Dead Man's Hand" and "City Of Kings" are my favorites among a real strong disc. The production is clear and crisp. The musicianship is impeccable. This is as good as it gets for hair metal.

The title track and the musicianship are first class, but unfortunately the rest of the songs didn't really do it for me. Once again, I'd call it average hard rock. I preferred the debut, though this is not bad... just average.

Not as good as the debut. surprise attack is better. but this is indeed a fantastic rock album. every tracks have something. Some songs remain me of Badlands. I really like Dead Man's Hand, it's so fun. 8/10.

This one didnt do much for me. Too polished, kinda lost the edgy feelin` of Surprise Attack. Bummed me out. Not bashing it just not my forte` guys....

WOW...this is another one of my still sealed cheap tape finds... this is SO much better than the first one...every song is great... the band still playin good.Why this didn't make 'em superstars is beyond me....10/10.

tora tora knows how to rock n roll wild america is awesome right up there with surprise attack wonder what these guys are up to now somebody above mentioned that they were re-recording a third cd maybe it will finally be released and hopefully it will be as good like their first 2.

One of the most talented bands to get snuffed out by Nirvana.The record company exec. sheep should rot in hell for canceling thier contract.It don't get much better then this cd,quality production,musicianship,singing,songwriting.Ant Corder is a fantastic singer with soul.1992 was a sad year for the kind of music that I loved,so many great bands got the boot then to name a few Heavy Bones,Wildside,Saint & Sinners,Cry Of Love,Steelheart,Spread Eagle,Sweet F.A.,Herricane Alice,Wild Boyz.

I'ym surprised I never commented on this one before. Anyway, this is a great disc that got overlooked at the time. It expands and improves on the band's debut in all areas. The sound is more advanced andj diverse, with a bit more of a southern influence with light piano and jhorn touches. Anthony Corder's vocals aren'tv quite as whiny as on Surprise Attack, his voice sounding more rich and full. Keith DOuglas's guitar is as versatile as ever, but not as concerned with flashy showing off. Wild America is all about the songs, and they're all strong. My favorites would be the title track, first single "Amnesia" (Walkin' Shoes II?"), "Dead Man's Hand," "Lay Your Money Down" (whose lyrics pay tribute to old blues legends), the funky "Dirty Secrets," and the very Zeppelin-esque "Nowhere To Go But Down."

excellent hair metal release for TORA TORA ,a band that really rocks the place!guitar driven hard rock music that reminds me of AEROSMITH & TESLA and that will satisfy with its solid sound,great riffs and fantastic vocal work!the songs are great but no big hits included!bought it back in the day ,spinned it a lot and revisiting it brings back great memos!

They probably get more cred for their first disc, and maybe rightfully so, but this album shouldn't be overlooked. This might be a strange comparison, but I really hear a bit of Southern rock elements in this hard rock style. It has more of that classic rock feel to it than punk or pop influences. What I'm saying is that this is a pure rock album. The title track, Amnesia and City of Kings are my favourite tracks, but tbh there aren't really any poor songs. I like this album and don't hesitate to recommend. Grade A.

I don't think it's a strange comparison at all. I think a more southern-rock sound is just what they were going for, working with Stan Lynch from Tom Petty's band and bringing in the Memphis Horns. Maybe that's a little bit in response to some people viewing them as a Van Halen wannabe (though not as much as BulletBoys were), mostly due to Keith's guitar-playing—flashy, but not in that fussy, classically-trained way that was so common back then. Also, there were a fair handful of bands who were trying on this southern-rock pose around this time, probably inspired by the Black Crowes (who absolutely hated hair-metal, by the way). But it seemed like more of a natural, honest extension of the first album for Tora Tora. Wild America is a great disc, and I prefer it over Surprise Attack.
