Rock of Ages = Rock N Roll Blasphemy. I was going to save this revelation for my death bed confession, but I was coerced into seeing this light in the loafers 80's inspired ( I use that term loosely) musical. Tom Cruise singing (also use that term very loosely) is an abomination to the original versions, as is the rest of the knock-off sountrack. What the hell is a BACK SIDE BOYS sounding pop tune 'Undercover Love' by Diego Boneta doing on the soundtrack? I wish he would have at least sang in his native menudo Spanish to spare my ears. Put a fork in Def Leppard as the band praised Tom Cruise's(Stacee Jaxx-OFF) singing. At least Axl Rose didn't call in to give his blessing for "Paradise City". All around a terrible movie and sound track that IMO did nothing to capture the essence of the Strip in the 80's. There's 100's of glowing reviews on Amazon that better be by women and gay guys. This is the ANTI-'Rockstar' movie: NO fun,NO just tribute to the original artists,NO DICE. |

CC- you gave this soundtrack a # rating of "100"? Please try to put into words how these KARAOKE CALIBER show-tunes blew you away. Come on, you know there's only one band in which all their releases deserve a 100 (perfect rating) and that's your rock gods FOZZY. I think a song on Fozzy's latest release "Sin & Bones" sums up this soundtrack "Fairies Wear Boots" |

Saw the movie, cheesy (and supposed to be) but in parts, funny. Cruise has Axl Rose down pat! If the songs were done as stand-alone, they probably would have been better. But because they are made in montage format, they come off as mere sound bytes. As such, everything is “watered down.” Indeed this is not “Rock Star.” Too bad, could have been better. |

This movie really sucked. All the edginess was removed from the songs. Tom Cruise made me cringe with his hamming of the role. And i have decided i hate Russell Brand. But I have found a use for the soundtrack. Maybe it will work to get my 6 year old daughter to start liking the same music as her dad... If not I can always use it as a beer coaster. |

The low score is because someone gave only 1 point. This is a pretty decent soundtrack. Sure, the originals would be better, but don't we all know, love and own these songs somehow? |

I really miss being stalked by MetallianStallion ... his desperation for me to love him is beyond words. |

@CC, sorry I've been busy for the past 12 years, as I will try and re-up my stalking game. Your recollection of HH history is wrong, just like most of your reviews. The boomerang stalking started with you coming at me first for me having the audacity to give a negative review for your beloved wrestler/band FOZZY - Chasing the Grail (2010). Much like you attacked Axelinger for giving his opinion for Fozzy -'Happenstance (2002)'. It's hard to debate what's good/bad in this genre of music with your gold standard being 'Pretty Boy Floyd' with a 100 rating. I'm picturing you and Geoff (is he in the HH witness protection program?) trading lost demos on the message board from the band 'Dirty Penny'. Feverishly writing the disbanded members letters begging them to reunite. Auslander put it best when he made a fairly recent comment along the lines of CC is usually wrong (don't agree with), but he just happens to be right in this review. Just like a broken clock is right twice a day. |

Hey Stallion, I was just joking about CC being usually wrong. Of course I meant he is actually ALWAYS wrong!!! Just kidding. With regards to this album, it really sucks. It squeezes the life from some excellent songs and distills them into Broadway rubbish. I refuse to believe anyone could give this soundtrack a perfect score!!! Not even CC would do that... |
