This debut unleashed guitar god Rex Carroll upon the Christian metal world and quickly lifted Whitecross to the top of the 'white metal' heap in the late 80s/early 90s. Carroll's rip-'em-up guitars combined with Scott Wenzel's piercing, Ratt-like vocals to create a Christian metal classic, one that no self-respecing sacred metalhead should be without.

This album is excellent! My most favorite album Whitecross released, and for me, there's not a disappointing track to be found!

I just had a nightmare that Ratt had started bible bashing. Then I woke up and it was Whitecross.

One of my favorites from the 80's but I don't remember the cover looking like the one above. EXCELLENT guitar playing. Sounds a lot like Ratt but indeed better than Ratt. I saw these guys live on this tour and they were as good live as in the studio. One of the best Pure Metal releases ever.

An excellent release. Yeah, Scott Wenzel does his best imitation of Stephen Pearcy, but Rex Carroll's guitars blew every guitar player in CCM music (not to mention 900f all others) out of the water. A classic.

I can hear some Ratt in his voice but also believe that there's also some Fastway in the voice too in certain songs. I just got the first 3 albums and they're a good addition to any hard rock collection.

One of my fav. Whitecross albums,...with the shredding guitarsolos from Rex Carroll...this is the best white metal band ever. They continue to amaze me,...my first cd was In The Kingdom...with the melodic solos...just awesome...Too bad that Carol left the band after High Gear... I only like the 3 first albums...I have them all,but I only listen to the one with Carroll, where they still had the metalstyle.... For those we don't know them....'Get The Album, man.' Christrocks777

I saw these guys in concert when they were still playing in church gyms. My dad was one of the sound/video techs at one of their 1st concerts. I think we still have the video tape of the concert.

I remember seeing in, I think, Guitar magazine, Nov '87 if I remember right, that they predicted Carroll as the next axe master to challenge Yngwie for fastest hands. This album has a great Ratt sound with incredible guitar work. A must for both believers and non-believers. My ex-girl friend dated the drummer-Hedl after he left the band to attending Bible college in Chicago...even Christian stars get the girls.

Love this album! Great sound and the Scott Wenzel sure can sing. I think that this is one of the best christian albums out there. I'd recommend it to anyone.

Cannot stomach the lyrics but some pretty cool early hard rock songs. Just plain for me and ruined by the lyrical content. I know, I know, I'm best off then to get rid of it and I have long since done so. Cool hard rock CD but more one for the religious, I believe.

I've listened to all 5 albums by this great band where Rex played guitars and I would probably pick this one as my favourite album by them if drumming style wasn't so simple here.this is the only thing on this record that disturbs me when I'm listening to it, everything else (rhythm, vocals, backing vocals, guitar playing and lyrics) is great.my favourites here:tracks 1.,2.,3 and 7. Eventhough you aren't a christian I defenitely recommend you this band.God bless you all!!!
