The ultimate album. Give it some time and you will grow to love Vinnie's songwriting. The ballads are excellent and the other songs are really catchy.

Absolutely crazy album!! It's beguilling in a funny sort of way but, in the year 2001, it certainly sounds dated. Having said that I still seem to end up listening to it a lot... I just dunno!!!!

At first I was drawn into the more commercial sound, but it soon pissed me off. Compared with the first album, which is a classic, this album really blows goats. Mark Slaughter may have a prettier face and 'better' voice, but actually I prefer Robert Fleischmann, who had some real character to his singing. Besides, the singing should have remained secondary to vinnie's blistering solos. This album puts Vinnie in the shade of Slaughter, which is a real pity. Although Slaughter became a fairly dec

As much as I liked this cd and the first Invasion cd, I still can't get over the fact that Vinnie used to map out his solo's at a slow pace and then use a machine to speed them up. He's a good player, but not as fast as you'd think. Vinnie Vincent fell into obscurity because of a tragic ordeal with his wife.

Ummm, a lot of potential, but the results are rather disappointing. Slaughter ruins almost every song by screaming like a little girl. The solos are cool, and Love Kills and Heavy Pettin' are good songs.

A GREAT GLAM CLASSIC. Super catchy songs. Vinnie should release more albums. I don't agree with Desslar above: Because that little girl voice is the very feature of Slaughter. We can call this album also as Slaughter before there was Slaughter. It's still fun to listen VVI today...

I have listened to this cd about 10 times and I like some things about it such as how the singer sounds abit like Robert plant but I don't like how he over powers the backround chorus. . . . . . I think he is a powerful singer but over does it on several occasions which kinda kills a few songs.

Comparing this one to the first Invasion album is like apples & oranges for me. This one is more song driven while the first one is more solo guitar driven. I still really dig this album in 2002 though almost despite Slaughter's voice. Any climactic part seems to be sung with the intent of proving 'the higher I sing, obviously the more emotional I am'. Still, if someone now wanted a good example of 80's guitar 'shred' I'd give them the two Invasion albums.

As stated above, it is hard to compare the two VVI albums. I actually prefer the first. I just don't hear the wailing guitar on this release as I did on the first. Anyway, the album kicks off with 'Ashes to Ashes' which is a great rocking tune. 'Love Kills' is a great ballad and also was a pretty cool video. I also liked tracks 4,7,8,&10. More commercial than the first release, it is very much a precursor to Stick it To Ya; still a highly recommended disc even though I prefer the debut..Rock on!

Even though I prefer VVI's first release, this one is still VERY listenable. 'Love Kills' is an awesome song, and it doesn't hurt that it was linked up with the 'Nightmare on Elm Street' movies a la 'Dream Warriors' by Dokken. Solid disc here!

this one blew away his first release by miles. i sometimes wish he could have gotten on with the kiss guys. in my opinion he wrote the bast songs they did in the 80's, being a huge kiss mark i should know.the singer also stood out on this one (m.slaughter). killer cd.

This album was a lot better than the s/t album. Mark Slaughter is definitely better with vocals than Robert Fleischman. Mark's unique voice adds to the kick-ass sound of this album.

This album is not the best thing that Vinnie ever had. The songs of the first Invasion are much better than All Systems go, but all the vocals are terrible. Vinnie is one of the best players in the world, but he´s need to back for Kiss.

I always thought of this as one of those guilty pleasures that I hate to admit I listen to, but yet I still go back time and time again for it. Always thought he was a bit sloppy even before I knew he recorded his solos at one speed and then sped them up. Definite fun to listen to, some real good grooves and catchy choruses on here. Vinnie always seemed to be the guitar hero for all the guys that weren't very good guitar players. It sounds fast, so it must be good...etc. I still like it anyway!!

Debut had better songs, this one better production. Singer changed, but hey I wouldn't noticed without record sleeve. Same high pitched-squeek. Their balls much hurt big time (I mean vocalists). After this record Mark and Dana formed Slaughter. Gene Simmons said about VV. 'Vinnie got fired from a band that was named after him. That tells something of his character.' Not quite accurate but near enough. For the record 6/10

The second VVI album leaves a lot to be desired and I put this blame squarely on 2 things - 1. Over production; 2. Mark Slaughter. What makes Vinnie stand out (his playing, solos and shredding) has been watered down and taken away so much here that what we are left with are standard samey songs sung by a childish-sounding singer, who has no vocal range or talent. There are good tracks on here, but they are marred by the 2 above problems. Don't despair though - get Euphoria!

I actually really like the band Slaughter, even if Mark still sounds awful a lot of the time I can forgive it. This, however, is a different story. Funny thing is, looking at the songs it's a very good hard rock disc. I actually really like everything about it... except those vocals. They are just awful, and it's a shame because this would have been a very good (not great) hard rock CD otherwise. Either way, I still like it enough. Good stuff.

I agree with Geoff the vocals are appalling!!! I never understood the appeal of Mark Slaughters 'left nut caught in the mangle' catterwalling. Had Fleischman sang on this it would have been another winner as the songs are indeed great.

After hearing the boys' first album, I had high expectations for this one. A more lightweight affair than the first...where have all the shredding solos gone?? Mark Slaughter definitely does a great job (Love his effort on 'Naughty Naughty'), but the album is disappointing when compared to the first. However, on its own it is still great. Best tracks are 'Love Kills', and the infectious glam rockers 'Naughty Naughty' and 'Heavy Pettin'

While not totally bad, I must say that the voice of Mr. Slaughter (same for Fleischman on the debut) is getting on your nerves after just one song - too much screaming, really takes away quality of the album. Secondly, I never felt Vincent was really that good a guitar player, no real feeling, and the songs are not good enough. A couple of good ballads sure, but overall a disappointing album.

An All-time favorite of mine. I can still remember riding my shitty bicycle over to Empire Records at Montrose & Cicero in Chicago to pick up this cassette in the early fall of 1988. "Love Kills" was a big video on Dial MTV at the time (which was at the height of the reign of hair metal on MTV). "Love Kills" and "That Time Of Year" are the 2 songs that really stood out from the rest as being really well written, catchy songs (incidentally they were also the 2 songs that were released as videos)...

...but I also really loved "Ashes To Ashes", "Let Freedom Rock" , "Naughty Naughty", "Ecstasy"...Hell...I love this whole album. The whole thing is very catchy, well executed "hair metal"...or as we used to call it...hard rock or heavy metal. Calling them "hair bands" or "hair metal" was originally a slam against these bands, wasn't it? Anyways...back to what I was originally saying... Some people have been pointing to Mark Slaughter's vocals as taking away from this album, but I think they fit the overall sound of the music, and the songs perfectly. Sure, it's a bit of a guilty pleasure from my teenage years, but isn't that what it's all about? Highly recommended for fans of Slaughter (for obvious reasons) or fans of any other excellent, flashy, over-the-top 80's hard rock.

My favorite songs are the brilliant "That Time Of Year", "Love Kills" and "Ashes To Ashes". "Deeper and Deeper" and "Burn" has a great guitar riffs opening. I like Mark Slaughter's voice more then Robert Fleischmann's on debut album. Vinnie's guitar solos are much melodic and he has much less shredding on this album and this is good. The only criticism i have is so many overdubs and effects used on this record.

Excellent follow up to the debut. The thing is, I think the debut had the better songs, but this cd is still better overall, probably due to the vocals of Mark Slaughter who has a style that complements the shredder in Vincent. Slaughter and Strum of course went on to found the band bearing the singer's last name and release an even more successful album. Vincent would fade into obscurity. On this album That Time of Year is a standout only eclipsed by Love Kills which is a smoking classic. Highly recommended 90/100.

Three solid ballads, I like them. But recently heard some of the rockers of this album again, and those are hideous to listen to! You quickly want to switch to another song/artist. Understandably, Slaughter with their debut 2 x platinum smash album, raised the bar plenty! With Tim Kelly on guitar, you got more melody, bluesy warmth, Mark toned down his shrieking some at least, and songs+production were much better. I bought this when it came out, but was disappointed (exception its ballads). Vinnie wanted to be Malmsteen, but speeding up the tape/cheating or not, his guitar tone was often horrible and unpleasant. Funny fact is, even though he did not write any of those songs, drummer Bobby Rock also went on from this to a double platinum album.
