There are several great songs on this one. Great guitar work. Just don't watch the videos- they suck.

Wade is just mad because he woke up one morning and found his own hand cheating on him. Poor guy. Anyway...This is a guitar lovers dream cd. Huge production and sound and very catchy lyrics too. Extreme went down hill after this cd.

GREAT guitars by Nuno! Some really cool songs on here (I'm talking about the rockers, not 'More Than Words' that the casual fan would only know). Check out the solo on 'Get the Funk Out'-it's unbelivable. I think Wade sucks too.

True brilliance of this album got lost behind over played ballads and funk metal tags. A real revelation when it 1st came out. How many other major label hard rock bands had balls to do a Sinatra style supper club ballad half way through their make or break release..and they made it work!!

Has there ever been a band that put out 2 AMAZING albums and then proceeded to forget what the F got them there? maybe Def Lepp..but what were the boyz in extreme thinking? anyway for people looking for amazing guitar work and a slight bit of funk that is not a bother get this and the first album...the ballads like most from bands blow but the rest of the songs from both albums SMOKE! another bunch of idiots who had to turn away from what got them famous...Quote the WidoMakr....never more

Man one of the great air guitar albums of all time. If Queen married Aerosmith and had a kid this would be it. I hate that they get lumped in with the hair bands and are solely known in 2002 for 'More Than Words'. What a shame and it should not distract anybody from the fact that this was one of the best albums of this era and still sounds fresh and exciting 12 years later. Fantastic songs and musicianship and if you have to have a few albums from this era you need this one absolutely!!

This album has a few good songs. I like 'Decadence Dance', 'Get The Funk Out' and my favorite 'Hole Hearted.' I would have to say that this is their best album. If you can get it used for under $7 bucks, than I say do it.

I love 'Hole Hearted' and 'Its a monster' the other songs are pretty cool, and Nuno is one hell of a guitar player. Gary Cherone has an awesomr voice for Rock N Roll too.

I saw that Extreme was labeled a 'glam sleaze' band. Not even close. Extreme is quite possibly the most perfect band there ever was. Gary is an amazing singer who writes intelligent, smart lyrics that leads in a positive direction. Nuno is one of the best guitar players ever, and writes incredible songs. Pat and Paul round out the band with a solid rythem section. I can write so much more about this band, but there isn't enough room. Pornograffitti is what Extreme is all about, get it now!

Let me admit sth!!!!, when I first got this album in those times I had not been so much impressed. Even I had hated 'More Than Words'. This was perhaps there were many other good-hard rockin' albums around. But (a great 'BUT') in today's toilet of what they call 'alternative' and lack of real hard-rock, this still shines as a TOP-QUALITY.... OK. one big mistake!!!!!

Just recently listened to this again for the first time in years. Forgot just how good it was(and I don't mean just the hits either). But what's the deal with that 'When I First Kissed You' song? It's totally out of place on the cd. Sounds like a bad lounge act. Hopefully it was meant to be a joke.

Extreme sucks!Their music is even more pussy and worse than even poison and warrant. Its a disgrace that a pop by band like west life would copy their more than word songs. See what kind od band they are:even westlife wants their music!Extreme in my opinion is pop,not hard rock. they give rock a bad name!

Jack what have you been smokin?? Extreme rocks especialy the first disc is awesome. Nuno is a player on par with eddie, george or anybody for that matter. The 2nd record is a little differant but it's a good record. Worse than warrant and poison! It must really be some good shit! They are not pop, it funk metal that rocks. Just listen to little girls or kid ego. That's great rock and roll. Take another listen or quit smokin dope. If fact do both!!
|
From: jack |
Date: June 11, 2004 at 1:45 |
Well, not everybody thinks they rock and thats my 'no big deal' opinion anyway. but saying nuno on par with eddie or george is really an insult. On par with cc.deville is more like it. Even if nuno is a great guitarist, that does not make them a great band.lets face it- They are just a second rated hard rock/hair band like firehouse, pretty boy floyd or faster pussycat. they are way beyond the league of the crue, the cinderella, the dokken and the gun'n'roses, thats for sure.
|
From: Dean |
Date: June 11, 2004 at 17:11 |
Nuno on the same level as CC? WTF? Dude-are you of this planet? Nuno had a guitar tone to die for and his solos smoked. While Eddie was an innovator at what he did, I kind of lost interest in what he was doing a long time ago. Lynch is also a killer guitarist but some of his musical choices left a little to be desired(Smoke This) You may not like Extreme which is cool but how can you deny Nuno's talent?
|
From: Metal T |
Date: June 11, 2004 at 19:39 |
I agree Dean ---The comment about Nuno' being on par with CC. was a bit much. In fact it boggles the mind.Personally,I never really cared for Bettencourt' but, one can't deny his guitar prowess,(the f**ker can play). However,i wouldn't put him in the same class as Evh,Lynch,Malmsteen or SRV.Then again, maybe i would, but then you could also make a case for Vinnie Vincent, etc and everyone else who made 2 great records .
|
From: Dean |
Date: June 11, 2004 at 20:38 |
Well I'm sure you would get some arguements about Vinnie- but I'd add Rex Carroll, Vito Bratta, Warren DeMartini, Alex Skolnick, Marty Friedman, Andy Timmons, Reb Beach, Dave Mustaine, James Murphy, and Jason Becker to that list. I'm sure there's more but those are the top of mine.

|
From: Metal T |

A great blending of hard rock and some funkiness make this album miles ahead of the debut. Tracks like 'Get The Funk Out', 'Decadence Dance', and 'Money' still sound fresh. The two hit ballads were deserved, but the other two ballads are not too strong. 9/10

This is an increible cd, great rhitms and increible guitar from Nuno. Sometimes he catalogized as Eddie's imitator, but that alie, he surely has eddi'es tapping but at his own style. Nuno is one of my favorite guitar palyers with Richie Sambora(bon jovi), Yngwie Makmsteen, and of course Eddie van halen.

From: Geoff |

I admit freely that Nuno is a great player and I love his guitar sound. He is a much, much better player than CC, but I must admit I prefer CC and certainly prefer Posion to Extreme. Yes Extreme are better musicians, but IMO Poison wrote much better songs - just my opinion. I sold this disc, though I love 'More than words' (Even more so if I hadn't heard it a million times) and 'Hole hearted'. The rest is well played, but hey - I hate funk! Killer riffs though.

Combinación perfecta y aunque "More Than Words" lo he escuchado hasta el cansancio sigue gustándome.

This is one of my top 50 albums of all time. It is to bad that they could not follow up this album after two great albums. Nuno absolutely shines on this album and Gary C is at his best.If this album doesn't move your feet then you must be dead !It has the perfect blend of ballads and killer guitar tracks. Get the Funk Out will always be ingrained in my brain. 88/100

A lot of people were fooled by the two big singles, and some continue to think Extreme were nothing but a poppy, ballad band. I also remember hearing about people buying this album based on the songs they heard on top-40 radio, hearing "Decadence Dance," and taking it back to the store immediately, feeling grossly misled. Ha ha! Extreme were actually a heavy, funky band with a shredding guitarist and hard grooves for days, and with a generous dose of playful humor. And what of that one REALLY big hit that you can still hear at the dentist office? Hey, "More Than Words" is fun to play on acoustic guitar, and chicks dig it right away (okay, MILF's dig it). It's always been amusing to me, once I figured it out, that a hard-rock band like this managed to score a #1 with a sweet, heartfelt acoustic song about sexual frustration, whose general meaning is "shut up and fuck!"

After thirteen years this remains one of my Desert Island Discs -- it's simply that good. No one did high-energy, funkified Party Metal better than on this release. All the fun, whoop-it-up-and-have-a-grand-ol'-time elements that early Van Halen brought to the hard rock scene are combined with frenetic, balls-out flash and shake-your-ass funky grooves. Nuno Bettencourt is the primary sound engine, playing his ass off via mean riffs and blistering runs that established him as a shredder to contend with, alongside Gary Cherone's fantastic Hagar-like vocal performance. One great song after another. These fuckers can flat-out play, and the deep harmonies add extra kick to the spicy ingredients. The only faults: "When I First Kissed You" is an out-of-place track, and at times a funkier bass player might be nice. Sure, this disc may sound dated by today's standards, but the same could be said for most of the material found here at HH. It never goes out of style in my household. 98 / 100

sometimes in the hard rock world some bands have an extraordinary success and an extraordinary aura(my english is limited so i m not sure of this word hope you understand).the best example are gun and roses a very poor hard u s band.one thousand band are better than us ,like the extraordinary shark island.and other example extreme:extreme a top band?it s the joke of the year.their acoustic songs and their ballads are an absolute pity.the rest?it s a poor mix of funk/hard us(i ve nothing against)very very average,in reality very mediocre.there is in life: one thing is calling.....the talent.not for extreme...................

Me and my French friend are just never going to agree about Guns n' Roses. As for Extreme, the songs I like best here are "Decadence Dance," "Get The Funk Out" (which I originally thought really was "Get The Fuck Out" and was amazed it got played on the radio), and "Szzi." Songs like "Li'l Jack Horny" and "When I'm President" rock hard, but are a little too goofy. I've always liked "Hole Hearted" better than the overplayed "More Than Words," though I detect some possible religious undertones. But in eneralI think this band is at their best when they crank it up. The big, bombastic attempts to be Queen don't do it for me. Pornograffiti was a good, ambitious album for 1990, but is not an all-time classic in my book.
