A bit disappointing, this one. From a talent like Jack you expect a lot more than this average songs ! Hope NightRanger will release a new record soon. Not half as good as the Ranger stuff !

From: vandervelde Date: May 28, 2004 at 9:15
I would say this is like Tom Petty recordings(Heartbrakers era).....to me it's good news because i'am Petty big fan....some very good songs...just lyrics in few times too cheesy...you can't compare this to Night Ranger...this is just diffrent music....

From: James Date: May 31, 2004 at 14:05
I do like this album. It is a bag of mix sounds with some new Night Ranger sounds, Shaw-Blades, Journey and a new modern sound all mixed together but Jack makes it work.

From: ROB GARCIA Date: June 3, 2004 at 17:39
quite dissapointing!! not what i expected from one of the biggest names in our music.well i guess he was trying to do something different from nightranger which somehow i understand but the problem i see in this case it's that his voice does not fit the sound+style he has choosen.JACK if you ever bother reading this liner notes, please go back to your roots and give us one cracking melodic rock album the way you know how to do it.amen!.

why has no one mentioned that jack blades was in damn yankees?

From: James Date: June 9, 2004 at 21:50
Rob, why do a solo album if it is going to sound like the band you are in? I agree that i wish it would have been a little more in your face rockin'but it is still a good solo effort. For an answer to your question Jack did an interview that explains the direction and sound's on the album. Check out the interview at

Of course, the big problem with doing an album like this is who is going to buy it? Night Ranger/Damn Yankees fans will, and will most likely be a little disappointed in the direction. Fans of Tom Petty etc probably wouldn't buy a CD from a melodic rocker... Take it for what it is, something a little different to listen to, although personally I actually prefer his son (Colin's) release to this one.

From: Rycheage Date: July 15, 2004 at 21:23
Quite good when you come to grips that this is not Night Ranger. "Shine On" is an impeccably done rocker with Tommy Shaw sharing duties on that one. "Nature's Way" is impressive to say the least. This is a great rock CD and I'm sure if you get Night Ranger and even Damn Yankees out of your thoughts, you will see what I mean.

From: Jesse Date: August 8, 2004 at 13:52
Overall, I'd say this is a solid effort by Jack Blades but not spectacular by any means. "Sea Of Emotions" is my favorite track from this one. I don't care for the 3rd or 4th tracks too much, but there isn't anything that I don't like to some extent here. As some of you have already mentioned, we'd all like to see a new Night Ranger album. I like the Damn Yankees stuff too, but you can't compare that to the greatness of Night Ranger.

From: Wotty Date: August 12, 2004 at 9:52
Two words sum up this album,MAJOR DISAPPOINTMENT.Ilooked forward to this for ages, heard it, and my jaw dropped.I suppose I have still got the NIGHTRANGER mentality.Sorry Jack. 4.5/10

From: Z Rocks Date: August 12, 2004 at 11:45
Useless, boring, disappointing. Nothing else. Let's forget this cd asap!

From: Wotty Date: August 31, 2004 at 9:12
I tried and failed to get anything from repeated listenings to this album.Sorry Jack, there is just nothing going on with this CD.Instantly forgettable....

From: jmikep Date: June 29, 2006 at 20:43
I guess I'm in the major minority here, because this was one of my favorite albums of 2004. I still listen to it repeatedly. "Sea of Emotions" is a smoking rocker, and the definite highlite of the album, and overall, the only song that didn't end up on my iPod was "Nature's Way."

From: headbanger4life Date: November 12, 2007 at 3:47
I gotta say that I agree with some of you all. This was a disappointment to me. I understand that this is a solo project for him but it just doesn't rock to me. I also agree that Tom Petty fans would love this. I am a Tom Petty fan as well but I didn't expect this kind of sound from a Night Ranger/Damn Yankees veteran. Having ex-Night Ranger and Damn Yankees bandmates didn't seem to help this one. Even having the Japanese version with a bonus track didn't save it for me.
