What great tunes on here.Brings back some serious memories. still think three lock box is his best over all solo release.

This is probably my favorite Sammy solo effort. "I'll Fall in Love Again","There's Only One Way to Rock","Baby's On Fire" & "Heavy Metal" are all classic hard rock songs.Sammy went on one helluva role with this one, followed by Three Lock Box,VOA,and I Never Said Goodbye.Great streak of solo CDs from the Red Rocker!

Sammy's best effort. This is a classic melodic rock album.

The best Hagar solo release by far! Does anyone know if this CD has been remastered. I have the original but it would be great if a new freshly remastered version was available.

The Red Rocker's first studio album of the 80's is a mixed bag. The opening tune carries a punch yet is radio friendly. In fact, it sets the tone for most of the album, but "There's Only One Way To Rock" steps it up a notch & flat out cranks. It remains a concert highlight to this day & rightfully so. Moreover, another heavy, fan favorite number appears here. Along with the forementioned,"Heavy Metal" is a track worthy of it's name. Containing intense riffing, a huge scream, a wild solo & some cool lyrics, it just oozes rock & roll. Noteably, it also appeared on the soundtrack of the same name back in 1981 which featured other veteran rockers Nazareth, Blue Oyster Cult, & Grand Grand Funk. Next, "Can't Get Loose" begins awkwardly with it's slick, new wave keyboard beat, but again as with a few of the other songs, contains some beefy chords & aggressive chorous vocals. By the time the song is kicked into full gear, thankfully, the quirky keys are all but lost within the song structure.

Side two begins, lagging in swagger, with "Baby It's You". Undoubtedly, it was aimed at being the single of the record, but probably better left as it was, just a ho-hum album track. Next, the playful, airy chords of "Surrender" does nothing to jolt the senses & fits for zero more than just taking up album space. "Inside Looking In" unfortunately, continues the filler. Finally though, the last two tracks save the album side from being a complete bust. However, they both were non penned by Hagar or anyone from his band. The cover version of CCR's "Sweet HitchHiker" revs up the power once again & competes with the stronger tunes. Lastly, Janice Joplin's "Piece of My Heart", concludes this offering in an upbeat fashion. Overall, the album shows it's age yet has become a nostalgic gem over the years, even reaching platinum sales, but frankly, it's best remembered for the few timeless, hard hitting Hagar classics within.

A few Hagar comments coming in. I mentioned it before when discussing the monumental MONTROSE album and recent CHICKENFOOT project, Sammy Hagar is a rock icon who has never gotten his due respect. Think about it, this guy has been around since the early 70's and has consistently put out and/or been a part of some amazing material. He should be in the rock and roll hall of fame.

Acclaimed album by Sammy...it contains a killer track and for me the best of it in the name of "HEAVY METAL" plus some other good tracks such as "I'll Fall In Love Again","Baby's On Fire"(catchy),"Surrender"(poppy)& "Piece Of My Heart"(catchy)...good stuff!!!...86/100
