As with most Sammy cd's this on is hit and miss. The good songs are really good and the weak songs are fillers. I would say if you find it used for a good price get it. other wise get the new live cd or get the unboxed greatest hits package.

You nailed it James. A wildly inconsistent release. Sammy's capable of some pretty intelligent stuff when he puts his mind to it (Humans Being is a shining example). But he's also capable of being more juvenile to the point that junior high kids would roll their eyes. For every awesome track like 'Red Voodoo', you have three duds like 'Shag'. Mega-disappointing. 'Sympathy For The Human' is just annoying.

Mas Tequila is my fav. I agree- this has some dull moments.

A great party record. I am biased as I love almost everything the guy has done but in all honesty this is FUN!!

I like to think of this as a maxi-single for "Mas Tequila". A fun song that was a nice sized hit for Mr. Hagar, but the rest of the album sounds like leftovers. 3/10

This was a lot better than the Van Halen drivel. Sammy shines but I think some of his musicians are holding him back. Where is Bill Church when you need him?!

Erhg this is terrible easily the worst album in sammys catalog the only track that is nice it the one from 1984 done with Neal Schon the rest of this album really stinks i got it when it came out and to this day i regret it what a load of shit Shag is one of the worst songs ive ever heard covering a Gary Glitter song style in Mas Tequila err sympathy for the human The revival need i go on avoid this embarassing release by a fantastic singer Sam is great this album really is sooooo badb 3/10

i agree with the first comment(James,2003)...a mix of good songs and fillers ...Sammy will always rock but in here... ..."The Revival","The Love" & "Returning Of The Wish"(nice song) are my faves...tracks 1,4 & 5 have somethin' too...80/100

I bought this one when it came out, because I liked "Mas Tequila." This was right around the time that hard rock was starting to be fun again, you might remember. Spring of '99, bands like Buckcherry and New American Shame were getting airplay and old favorites from the '80's were regrouping, and hell, "Mas Tequila" is a great, fun, drinking song. Aside from that though, there ain't much here. "Right On Right" is good enough, adn "High And Dry Again" and "Lay Your Hand On Me" are okay, compared to the rest of the disc, but that's not saying much at all. The rest is pretty weak and not even all that hard. I love that Hagar seems to have such a fun personality, but he's made a lot of fairly shitty music in his time, and most of his solo albums are inconsistent at best. In the end, I rarely, if ever, spin this disc. Hagar is a perfect example of why best-of compilations exist.

"Mas Tequila," man. We first started hearing this song in March of '99. I didn't even drink yet, much less tequila, but I knew what a party # supposed to sound like. It was spring, and a young man's thoughts turned to all manner of fun and hijinks. Summer was shaping up to be a rockin' good time! Hagar told everybody that he no longer played concerts, he played PARTIES! It was all part of transforming himself into the hard-rock version of Jimmy Buffett. And just like Jimmy Buffett, most of his songs suck when you're sober. In hindsight, "Mas Tequila" is kind of annoying, but maybe because I'm older and wiser, maybe sadder, or just don't have Sammy's boundless optimism.
