|This is exactly what it says. It's all the songs the Gunners did that made it into the charts. Nothing new for the fans but for casual fans or youngsters this would be an introduction to all the songs they've heard on radio and MTV. This is still some of the best hard rock ever recorded even if it is a record company cash-in.

|for me this is the way to go. I'm a luke-warm Gun's fan and do not own any of their albums. I will buy the greatest hits, but much else from the band doesn't interest me.

|Where's 'Mr. Browntone' and 'Nighttrain'? Are they somehow inferior to 'Since I Don't Have You' and 'Ain't It Fun'? OF COURSE NOT. But we end up getting the 'spaghetti' on another fucked up compilation that foolishly steers the attention away from the release that deserves it. THAT'S RIGHT- 'Appetite for Destruction' is and was their greatest hits. After that, it was pretty much just ballads, covers and controversy.

|No, it's a marketing strategy. They figure their sales for Appetite would go down if they included that many hits from it. That's why you rarely see a true greatest hits. They generally leave out one or two to ensure that you purchase the older releases.
||Date: March 26, 2004 at 13:13|
|Even with those two songs added, TIM, there would still be PLENTY of reasons to buy 'Appetite' ('Rocket Queen', 'You're Crazy', 'My Michelle', 'It's So Easy'). Give it this though- this is the most controversial Greatest Hits CD of all time!!

|I agree, but they don't see it that way. They're greedy and don't want to risk anything. Almost every great band has some of their best tunes missing on these. They may be planning to issue another greatest hits later. Ever notice how you have to buy 3-4 greatest hits before you truly have them?

|Just look at Journey, Van Halen, AC/DC, Aerosmith, etc.. No hits package or box set gives you all the hits. Sometimes bands release 3 best of cds that are basically the same, except for a track or two. Then they release a fourth that is a best of the best ofs. Just a money-makin' scheme man. The fans best interest is the last thing they care about. They know our music is no longer at the top of the charts and that we are desperate for whatever we can get. Appetite is my favorite album, so believ

|believe me- I understand entirely. The missing tracks are the label's fault and it was intended.

|The record company is trying to rob us for in my opinion,this should have been a mini disc,or maybe even a cd single
||Date: March 29, 2004 at 16:39|
|Errr there are no missing tracks. This is 'Greatest Hits' not 'Best of' which means hit singles 'Brownstone' etc were not singles. Estranged was only released as a video so its not a single either.
||Date: March 29, 2004 at 17:12|
|In our opinion, they should have been. We see them as hits, not implying they made it big. People were scared to play Mr Brownstone forever because of that bitch Gore. It would have made it if not for her ridiculous and pretentious efforts which were just for political gain.
||Date: March 29, 2004 at 19:58|
|This CD though is aimed at the mass market,even those people who aint rock fans but do dig GNR singles are gonna buy it. I will admit I did make one mistake as one single is actually missing (Night train). Fuck,I'd love to see songs like Coma,Get in the ring,Mr.Brownstone etc on a GNR compilation but that is only gonna sell to the rock audience & you cant blame the record company (for once) who are just trying to recoup their losses from Axl 'I'll release an album when I feel like it' Rose!

|'Paradise City' and 'Welcome to the Jungle' are the all time CLASSICS. I love 'em!!!
||Date: April 12, 2004 at 16:44|
|good intro to new listeners but it needs more Appetite i.e. My Michelle, Nightrain even Used to Love her
||Date: May 19, 2004 at 6:42|
|Perfectly well executed!All the songs, from welcome to the jungle to sympathy for the devil are undoubtedly 14 of Gun'n'Roses's best songs.

|C'est la vie boys, best of stuff doesn't work, plus these dudes put it to retirement anyway. Good riddance.

|Cheap cash-in by Geffen. If I remember both "sides" of the band (Rose, Duff/Slash) tried to block it in court but failed. And it debuted at #3 on billboard and sold a million copies within a couple months! Top ten in the UK too! With that kind of interest in the classic lineup, will there be the same for Chinese Democracy? Who knows?!?

|I've never been a die hard fan of the band and this compilation,to be honest,is packed with more mid tempos/covers than proper rocker ones so it ended up in a dull release IMHO...tracks 1,4,6,7 & 11 are the ones for me,the rest for romantic or melancholi cpersons...end of the story .85/100

|Agreed with Rick: basically what you have here is a collection of all their US singles, the ones that had videos, pretty much in chronological order with a couple switcheroos. For myself, honestly, 98% of the time, Appetite For Destruction is the ONLY GnR I listen to. I only rarely venture into Use Your Illusion, and am usually underwhelmed all over again when I do. Even the pleasure I get out of hearing "Civil War," "You Could Be Mine" or "Don't Cry" pales in comparison to the excitement I still feel when I hear "It's So Easy," "Nightrain," "Mr. Brownstone" or "Rocket Queen." That shit just never gets old for me. This CD is for only the most casual of fans who just want the songs they remember from MTV.
