Must have for any GnR fan really showed just how good they were. The Acoustic songs are world class. This albums not afraid to speak its mind in a far too PC world.

After "Appetite for Destruction" this album comes like a sweet following the main dinner menu. A relatively short "fill-in-the-gap" stuff. While Side A is a sleazy live, Side B consists of acustic pieces. But I repeat, don't think it as a real whole length album. It's a short GNR party...

Worth the purchase price just for the last two tracks.

Not being a big GNR fan,and thinking APPETITE is just another good release from the 80's,I still like to learn all I can about music. My friend claims that this actually was the first release, and it was not til after the MTV video from APPETITE,did this get released again to become famous. Is this true??

Hey, Knuckles. The live songs on this are from GNR's first release from '86. The acoustic songs were recorded ater APPETITE. This is a must have for GNR fans as it shows another side to them. "Used to Love Her" is a classic!

Not Appetite, but pretty strong overall. The rough, punkish first half and acoustic second half don't mesh so well together though. Patience is amazing. When I first heard it I had no idea it was Guns N Roses, never imagining they would do something so soft.

A brilliant way to make some cash while Axl wasted away in the studio recording the overbloated Illusion albums. He knew EXACTLY what he was doing with 'One In A Million' and 'Used To Love Her'. It was almost Mansonesque the way he deliberately put those hotbutton tunes out. No PR was bad PR. It didn't hurt that the songs are actually good as well. The 'live' tunes are a joke, BTW.

Nice boys don´t play rock´n´roll! I think everybody who likes more "Appetite" than "Use Your" albums, likes this one also. This one didn´t really kick my ass when I first hear it and I sold my tape to one girl in my school, couse she loved Patience so much! Good going live tracks and pretty regular acoustic stuff incl. that Patience. Nothing very important to me.

Bons tempos esses!Destaque para a Patience, que até hoje me enche os olhos!Pena que eles fizeram questão de se afundar e o pançudo do Axl fez um show sucateado aqui no Rio de Janeiro.Sorte minha que eu não fui!

This CD is truly amazing, their second best album next to Appetite for Destruction! The first four songs are worth the price of admission, all rocking out hardcore but my personal fave is Reckless Life. Patience is one of the better ballads of rock n roll and Used to Love Her is absolutely hilarious. One in a Million put good ol Axl in the spotlight once again. Even though i don't agree with what is said there, I just love that song! If you dont like this cd-fuck off! and if you donthaveitgetit!

They play mama kin even better than their inspirational rock band, aerosmith! Patience is a suberb ballad but i think it would have done better withsome electrical guitar in it. Uses to love her is a psychotic rocking socks like u r all that i need by the motley boys while you're crazy and nice bys are killer tracks. A classic album with classic stuff. GUN'N'ROSES,IN MY OPINION IS THE BEST HARK ROCK/METAL BAND AT THIER PEAK. THERE ARE ABSOLUTELY NO COMPARISON WHEN THEY ARE AT THEIR BEST.

The first half, the "live" side is decent. The covers are very good, but the two originals are nothing special. The acoustic half is excellent, showing the versatility of this band. "Patience" remains my favorite ballad of theirs, and "Used To Love Her" is the rare example of a song that throws in humor that acutally works. 8/10

MUY BUEN DISCO. UNA CARA UN DIRECTO DEL 86 (SUPERPOTENTE Y HEAVY) Y LA OTRA CANCIONES ACUSTICAS (PRECIOSA PATIENCE). AUNQUE YO NO LO CONSIDERARIA UN LP, SINO UN EP.

Looking back...The decision to release this with the early live songs and some new stuff was indeed a good one.Much rather have a band do this,as opposed to cranking out a 10-12 song pile of mediocre crap. Then again what we got with Use Your Illusion I & II was a 30 song pile of crap .A shame given the fact that GnR became bloated and complacent in their fame and success, and were no longer that hungry,kick-ass bar band that once were .

Find yourself another piece of the action! The second side is just worth it for One In a Million and You're Crazy alone. The media and most people will dismiss the vulgarity of these 2 songs. They hold up after all these years. Much better than the overplayed Patience and Used to Love Her. The bitter honesty of these songs makes that more powerful. Side 1 is your typical run o the mill bar rock but wait, Reckless Life and Move to The City was when GNR was still real living on the streets.

When I first heard this, fully expecting something on par with "Appetite for Destruction," I was so disappointed that I thought about grabbing my shotgun and Kurt Cobaining my noggin. Live tracks followed by acoustic ditties? Whose dumbass, dickbrained idea was that?? It's like forcing me to eat dogshit and donkey jizz at the same time. Over the years, I have come to sort of enjoy the acoustic songs, but I loathe live tracks so much that not even a band as good as GNR can save 'em. I know this CD is considered a classic in many circles, but I'd be lying if I told you I think it's anything special.

I got this album when it first release in Cassette. Love the album but only the B-Side. I like GnR a lot, but the A-side just don't attract me that much. Always play the B-side, and to this day still no intention to purchase the CD version. I give it 8.2/10 as the B-side is worth buying.

after the huge success of Apetite For Destruction it was a good idea for GNR to release their first ep with some acoustic stuff!the live songs are kick ass hard rock songs performed by those crazy youngsters with loads of energy and i really lov em!the ballads are ok i guess and overall Lies is a must for hard rock fans ,cause it captures the start of this major band!

Nice EP but we could see where the band were headed (the criminally overrated UYI discs). The Aerosmith cover is nothing spectacular, Move to the City is nice enough and out of the four acoustic tracks, Patience is the best followed by One in a Million. Everyone says the version of You're Crazy is better than the album version: it isn't full stop. The album version has energy and power whereas this is just lacklustre. Used to love Her has comedic lyrics but is also tiresome. Patience, again, is the best track on here and I would've liked to hear a "plugged in" version with a proper solo and drums etc.

As most of us know, the "live" portion is just the bands Live...Like A Suicide EP that came out before Appetite For Destruction's release. Of course, suicides aren't live, and neither are these songs, with the crowd noise dubbed in later. Oh well. Neither of the two originals would've made it onto Appetite, I don't think (nor would the oft-bootlegged demo "Shadow Of Your Love"), but it's enjoyable all the same. Of the acoustic songs, "Patience" succeeds because it was different from the other power ballads of the day, just acoustic guitars and vocals, and Axl doesn't use his high voice until the end. That's the total opposite of something like "Don't Know What You Got ('Til It's Gone)," "Love Bites," or "Headed For A Heartbreak," all of which were popular around the same time. To be continued ...

We had never heard Axl sing in his "Patience" voice before, and only rarely did afterward. "Used To Love Her" is catchy and hummable after the joke wears off. I wouldn't ever say this version of "You're Crazy" is better than the original, but it's definitely different, but I could've done without Axl's scatting for almost a minute in the middle. And then we come to "One In A Million," notorious for its lyrics, which is a shame, because it's one of the band's best post-AFD songs.
