This 7 song EP is a sort of companion piece to the book "Metal on Ice", and it takes a novel approach (no pun intended) by bringing some of the best Canuck hard rock artists back into the studio to re-record their 80's hit songs.
"Don't It Make Ya Feel" was a wicked song when The Headpins released it in the early 1980's - this version is an absolute stone-cold killer, and Darby Mills nails it as she wails it.
Lee Aaron's fresh take on the awesome song "Metal Queen". Lee's chops are still top-notch.
Coney Hatch's Carl Dixon doing the band's legendary "Hey Operator"
Helix's Brian Vollmer wailing away on the nasty "Heavy Metal Love"
Slik Toxik's Nick Walsh goes all old-school leather & studs on Kick Axe's "On The Road To Rock".
Killer Dwarfs "Keep The Spirit Alive" redone here with Russ Dwarf on vocals
We also get the aural pleasure of a new song promoting the project; "Metal On Ice", features Lee, Darby, Brian, Nick and Carl.
This EP is a great reminder of just how awesome Canadian metal was in the 1980's.
