outstanding aor from this great canadians!!.refugee specialises in well thought out yet fresh and smooth aor wich especially the guitars and the harmony vocals appealed to the imagination.their first album called "affairs in babylon" is also a great release that you should keep an eye on.

The second release from this classic AOR band is a really good one! They have a style of their own, but after a few listenings you'll be hooked...My own favorites are "Love Survives", "American Dream" just GREAT AOR songs! And the killer ballad "Lay Me Down"...what more can I say....a must!

Those who know me know I'd rather set fire to my boxers with me still in 'em than listen to AOR, but this CD is one of the exceptions to the rule. With a good balance between melodic guitars & smooth keys and an emphasis on catchy hooks, this album earns its status as a pricey collector's piece. Well worth tracking down. AOR fans should run toward this one like cops running toward a table of free donuts.

Like a Heartland version of Magnum at times, this is nonetheless an AOR gem. Something to definitely keep an eye out for when combing the used CD shops. Myles Hunter was formerly in Avalon and later released a solo album called "Northern Union". Neither can touch his work with Refugee.... "Survival in the Western World" is pure melodic brilliance!

Pure class on this one. From the anthemic "Power" and the stunning "Burning From The Inside Out" this screams classic. Extremely hard to find but I think worth the $$. The band is tight and the production is excellent. Great stuff.

POWER IS KILLER, POR ESE EMPIEZO QUE TIENE, UN EMPIEZO COMO POCOS QUE E ESCUCHADO, PERO "LOVE SURVIVES" ES EL MEJOR TEMA DEL ALBUM. PURE AOR.

Why there isn't yet the Myles Hunter solo release in the site?Honestly I didn't hear yet both Refugee's cd's but I think they are quite different than his solo cd who I consider a very good aor cd.But I can't write a comment for a cd on another cd's page even if he's the Refugee singer....

Just writing about this one to tell everyone, as you probably know !, that their Affairs In Babylon will be released on CD on MTM Classix ! This one is great stuff, but I even think that AIB blows it away ! Nice to see that that MASTERPIECE will be released on CD soon !!

Wow, this is fetching some serious amounts of cash. It's really excellent AOR, just the right balance between guitar/keys and some quality songwriting. "Love Survives" (great keys on this one) & "American Dream" are the highlights IMO, but "Lay Me Down" also stands out. A couple of fillers - and the fact that I've never really liked Hunter's gruff vocal style - affect my opinion of this, but this is very highly recommended. ATLANTIC's "Power" is the nearest comparitor I can come up with. 8.5/10.

"The Beauty Of Pain" entre mis favoritas. Meritoria continuacion de su primer disco tambien hermoso 9/10.

A great AOR album, seriously!. I think this album is better that the first one. I think we find better compositions, more complete, with Myles Hunter making great interpretations and Again... Those fabulous Keyboards. My favorite tracks are: "The Beauty Of Pain", "Love Survives", "Burninf From The Inside Out" and the song which contains one of my favorite Keyboard intros: "Survival In The Western World", man only because of this song, this band deserves to be remembered by, this is the kind of song that inmediately rises yo up!!

Ummm sorry guys but it wasn't my cup of tea at all..i expected somethin' more like stomping your feet and sing along 80's AOR stuff but i found in here a quite simple album..well a matter of taste as i always say and respecting people's opinion about this one..the album starts with a solid song "Survival In The Western World","Love Survives" is one of my faves also with "Burning From The Inside Out" and "American Dream".."Lay Me Down" is nice and "Violence" is cool...the album perhaps is enjoyable but nothing really exciting at least for me..i'll spin it again in order to see if i could change my mind but at first listening..doubts...78/100

Recently picked this one up for next to nothing (original W German issue). There is no doubt these guys had talent! I'll have to give this a few more spins but as of now I'd say it will remain in my collection. Quality melodic rock/AOR you can't find now days.

Another I have had for a few years and plan on keeping it. Top-notch Canadian AOR the way it was supposed to be played. I'm always pulling out cd's from my collection to play and this one gets a lot of play. A must have!

pretty good release for REFUGEE back in 87 that could be better if the songs have bigger choruses !the band has a fine balance between keys and guitars and the musicianship ,production are of the highest level!the songs though arent as strong as they should with the exception of "love survives" and "survival in the western world"!good stuff in general but nothing blowminding
