Marc Jordan is IMO a very overrated 'AOR' artist and this is another mediocre release. Not exactly my cup of tea at all !, although it would be unfair to say this is crap. For the fans of this kind of hi-tech AOR ! |
From: TIM (2) | Date: July 25, 2004 at 13:20 |
Am not quite sure what Freaky's listening to here, but this is in the top 5 in my collection of 2,500 CD's. Westcoast is the order of the day here, and Jordan does it as well as anyone. 'Talking with Pictures' and '..How Men Cry' are other essential albums from him, but this was the ultimate. Not a filler, and some extraordinary moments of AOR. Huge melodies, brilliant choruses, and intelligent lyrics. One listen to 'Burning Down the Amazon' is all you need... Killer. 10/10. |

Agreed Tim - absolute monster cd , although i still prefer 'Talking Through Pictures' (one of my alltime fave releases bar none). |
From: AOR freaky | Date: July 25, 2004 at 17:04 |
Sorry TIM(2) and Jez, but this does nothing to me at all ! I find it very, very average. It would even not be in my top 500 of all times, but that's just my opinion. Enjoy it, I don't like it all. After all, even if we like the same kind of music, there are sometimes big differences in taste ! Marc Jordan is mr.Nobody to me. |

Great album, as goog as Talking In Pictures which is considered as AOR classic. Check out Marc's version of well known ''Can We Still Be Friends?'' |

This is the most AOR album from Marc. 'Edge of The World', 'Bridges In The Dark' and the stunning ballad 'Inside My Piano' are the gems here but also the rest makes up to a very enjoyable and ultimately great cd. The third and final album of the killer MJ trilogy (together with 'Talking Through Pictures' and 'Hole in The Wall'). You can forget the rest, especially the stuff from 'Reckless Valentine' onwards. This this is GOOD ! 8.5/10 |

This cd has an amazing production, and the lyric are awesome too. Anyway I must say that the album has some fillers IMO. It's not that hit-orientated. Maybe it's just not supposed to be that this beeing hi-tech AOR. 'Burning Down The Amazon' is the absolut highlight together with 'Big Love'. 8.5-9/10 I guess. |

An album that is good described as light aor or light westcoast or as it's newly called here pop westcoast aor. I personally don't like the songs too much except 'Edge of the word' what reminds me on Clif Magness. Overall this is stuff next to the manner of David Foster's 'River of love', Lenny McDowell Project's 'Lost paradise' or Just-If-I's 'All one people'. 80/100 |

Great AOR with hints at Simple Minds, Mister Mr. and Sting. I really like this style of AOR, and I also like that Steve Farris, Pat Mastelotto (of Mister Mr) are amongst the (many) musicians. I have to check discogs to find out, wich musician plays on wich track. Marc has an outstanding voice and goes straight to my heart. |
