The music discographies on this site are works in progress. If you notice that a particular XYZ CD release or compilation is missing from the list above, please submit that CD using the CD submission page. The ultimate goal is to make the discographies here at Heavy Harmonies as complete as possible. Even if it is an obscure greatest-hits or live compilation CD, we want to add it to the site. EPs and CD-singles from XYZ are also welcome to be added, as long as they are at least 4 songs in length.

Not a bad album but much different then later releases.Quality of the recording is not much to be desired but still is a nice addition to your collection. You can buy this release at One Flight Up Guitars website for $15.00 so its beyond me why people are paying 50+ dollars on ebay for it. To each his own I guess.

happydude, Thanks for the info. I just went to www.oneflightupguitars.com and placed my order. I see one is selling on eBay now with a bid of $57. Some people have tooooo much money!!

Just received my copy yesterday and I was not disapointed, This CD is an excellent rock album. The sound is a little raw 8/10 but the vocals 10/10 and the songs 10/10 make up for the lack of a polished production. Pick up your copy today at www.oneflightupguitars.com It will be the best 15 bucks you have spent!!

thanks for keeping it real out in the field xyz! I cant believe there is something new that is good coming out in such dark , nazty, 12 eating sandwiches times....godbless!

So what's the deal? Is this an official release from XYZ? It's not listed in the discography of their homepage. Is it new, or recorded prior to the Don Dokken-produced official debut?

From: T-Bone Date: August 22, 2005 at 18:17
This was done long before their debut cd, it was just never released. Their original guitarists got the rights to this cd and just released it on his own now. Check here: http://www.oneflightupguitars.com/xyz-rainydays.html

I just wanted to thank everyone for putting out the word that this can be picked up through the One Flight Up Guitars website. I was ready to get sucked into one of these bid wars on ebay for it. I can't believe how much people are paying for it. Mine is on it's way and I can't wait. I also seen that XYZ has released a demos cd with some of these and other songs. Vegasauctions on ebay is selling them and the are also on the Retrospect Records website. I think the band is trying to get there cut.

hello this terry ilous of the band xyz i see this insulting cd called rainy day it s a bootleg i have never nor pat authorized this cd to be released bobby peiper had done it on his own we tried to prevent it but it was too late those recordings are terrible and not very flatering , we do hve a new cd called Forbiddend demos 1985 1991,we released it to protect our self form the likes bobby pieper .now you know the truth www.xyzmuisc.com terry ilous

From: originalXYZguitar Date: October 29, 2005 at 16:58
This is Bobby Pieper the original guitarist of XYZ. Terry Ilous is full of himself, this is not a bootleged album. THis album was recoreded in 1984-1985 with a Atlantic development deal, and was shelved and never released. I remastered and released this album 'Rainy Days' by XYZ, by myself with the help of Pat Fontaine and Terry Ilous has known that this album was coming out for many years, and proceeded to ignore it. WELL NOW ITS OUT! With great reviews, check it out. www.oneflightupguitars.com

Sad to see what has eventuated above, but to comment on the songs alone, this is a good solid hard rock CD. If it's down to this or 'Forbidden Demos', go for 'Forbidden Demos' without hesitation. That said, this is good stuff. Although the tracks don't match their later output, it's consistent, mid-80's style hard rock... with that definitive Dokken-style more prevalent here than on their label releases. Check it out.

Rainy Days or Forbidden Demos...its all good. In fact I can't believe this early stuff was not published with some of the crap music/bands around at the time. These demos are the best stuff XYZ ever did although the self titled release is a good album aswell. It is more of a pop rock style but the songs are catchy. There's some really good ballads there too. The production is probably better on forbidden demos but if you're a fan of catchy melodic rock, just get it anyway you can.

Glad this one got out to the people! Really good stuff on here. This one is the only one I feel has any Dokken style. As Geoff stated above it is sad about the above comments and we need to let people know about the music. I own this one and I highly recommend it to add to your collection. It shows the bands style and sound during this time (84-85). Again one to get!

I must say that this cd is a great hard rocking cd! It's sad though that Terry and Bobby had a little disagreement her, if you guys are angry you should work it out, because you guys really rock! I found your debut LP and that's one hell of an album! You should get together and make a whole new cd with the 80's sound, you could be the first to do that, it could be a big giant hit if you would do it! Thanks for all these songs, I just wanted you top know that you have fans in Finland too, me myse

Prefer the latter XYZ' versions of 'Souvenirs' and 'High Life'...but its nice to hear where it all began for this unbelievably underrated band. Some of these tunes would eventually show up on the XYZ 'Forbidden Demos' disc. This has been released with slightly different cover artwork as well. ------

From: calitos10 Date: December 13, 2008 at 11:27
I do not agree with Metal T in this: SOuvenirs here is much more better. It´s one of my favs songs ever. The final keyboard part is just glorious. The song here is perfect. They shouldn´t have edited the song for the st album.

From: hair metal again Date: November 19, 2009 at 4:06
excellent debut release by the hair metal giants XYZ.as you listen to this you can understand why they later became such a huge band.this is magnificent mid 80 s hard rock with great melodies and much feeling in it.it contains amazing songs like "lonely without you","high life","where did we go wrong" and "crazy".brilliant!

From: andi Date: January 1, 2011 at 11:20
any smart people on the internet knows that this album is also "so" there ...!!

From: rick kerch vzla Date: February 23, 2011 at 20:21
The first time i listened to this album i quite liked it..not as solid as their debut(1989) or Hungry(1991) but a goodie one...my favorites are the AOrish ones "High Life" & "Lonely Without You"...other highlights are the opening "Wild",the moody "Rainy Days","Where Did We Go Wrong" & "Hot Too Hot"....vocally Terry Llous has his skills almost intact(obviously he has lowered the "high tones" for a more relaxed way of singing but effective tough)...88/100
