Having been an admirer of John Sloman's work with Lone Star I quickly grabbed this when it came out. It's a pretty good release but I feel it never quite hits it's stride. It has a very "in the studio" feel about it and is very much a product production wise of it's time. There is some fine bass playing from Pino Palladino and the performances are all top notch but some of the material could be better and the overall feel leads a little to the bland side. I do like it but maybe not everyones taste |

NIce poppy aor cd.It has good melodic songs with nice colaborations from great musicians.Don't spect anything ala FM for example but if you are an open minded person, this one would be worth buying. |

Mostly for fans of funky, jazzy, pop/rock. Sloman is a talented singer but for a straight rocker this stuff will get really tiring, cause Sloman never delivers the straight way, there's always a funny twist in his vocal lines... |

I wrote back a comment in 2006 but i'd like 2 be more specific about this release..first of all John Sloman IMHO is a great singer but probably can sound painful (in the good sense of the word) to others...the album consists of great Pop/AOR tracks also IMHO...guest musicians are top class (Alan Murphy from Go West & Robert Fisher of Climie/Fisher & the very talented Pino Palladino)..my fave tracks are "Foolin' Myself","Now You Say Goodbye"(love this one!),"Parting Line"(killer ballad),"Save Us" (superb ballad)...the rest of the album is pretty enjoyable to be honest...a matter of tastes but i would recommend this album 4 sure!!!.93/100 |
