|I really like all of the Mickey Thomas-era Starship albums and this one's no exception. "Nothing's Gonna Stop Us Now" was all over the radio way back when, and it's a credit to the quality of the song that I'm not sick of it today. The other songs still hold up as well. Rocky, this cd sells cheap on both Amazon and Ebay. Also I see it pretty often at used cd stores. Keep looking...it's not hard to find.

|A Starship enterprise of poppy proportions. I skip "Beat Patrol" to get right to the two major hits, then throw this CD into the off position in favor of the excellent follow-up "Love Among the Cannibals".

|Perfect example of AOR, keyboard-driven, party oriented, fun and very rockmantic. Although many people despised this album, it is still one of my favourites. Listen to their chords, fantastic. Not all rock musician can create such chord progressions. Full of harmony transpositions in the tradition of David Foster, Toto or Chicago where the power rock lovers usually dislike. Wings Of A Lie is great.

|This is almost as good as "Love among the cannibals" if it weren't for the sometimes wimpy duet-parts between the master Mickey Thomas and Grace Slick. She's a good singer but she sure doesn't fit in here IMO. Standout tracks are; "Nothings gonna stop us now" (their best hitsong), It's not over ('til it's over) and the haunting "Say when"... 7/10

|Dissapointing album number two, and for me, worse than 'Knee Deep In The Hoopla', there are some goodish tracks on this, but this is nowhere near their best material, and nowhere near their best album either (see 'Freedom At point Zero in the Jefferson Era, and 'Love Among The Cannibals').

|Me encanta este disco! No es muy rockero, pero tiene ese gancho de los buenos grupos ochenteros. BEAT PATROL orgasmic song!

|The second outing for the Starship sees them adopting a similar style with a few experiments thrown in for good measure. From 'Beat Patrol' with it's slight Dancey flavour through 'Nothing...' (the killer ballad from 'Mannequien') to 'Set The Night To Music' (also featured in an 80's film) this is a classic.

|Pure shit! A ton of legendary classic-rock bands embarrassed themselves in the '80's, perhaps none more so than Starship, although at least they changed the name of the band. "Nothin's Gonna Stop Us Now" is bad enough, but the other hit, "It Ain't Over ('Til It's Over)" is just horrible! My sister had this tape when we were kids. Hated it then, hate it now.

|I wouldn't call this shit Doghouse. Admittedly half of this is filler but if you like the commercial hits like I do, you'll really enjoy this album. Apart from the two commercial hits, I really like the slow and smooth I Don't Know Why, The Children and Babylon. A soft album definitely but judged on its own merit, I actually like it.

|If ever an album reeked of plasticized '80s trademarks (what Steve Morse called the "vertical hair factor"), this is it. A producer's wet dream of programming, mechanized drum sounds, layer upon layer of keys and synths, choppy eighth notes -- and virtually no soul whatsoever. Poor Mickey Thomas (one of the most soulful vocalists ever) does his best to bring some passion to the fabricated, antiseptic mire (Grace just sounds worthlessly out of place on this kind of ersatz fluff), which would make all the production glitz tolerable if the songs were well-crafted and memorable. But aside from the played-to-death, soundtrack-ready "Nothing's Gonna Stop Us Now" they're largely bland, disposable, silly '80s synth-AOR nuggets: sterile, clean, calculated -- besotted with neon, Ray-Bans and stone wash jeans. Someone growing up with this might regard it with a special nostalgia, but coming to it for the first time from the 21st century reveals it as the boring, dated ephemera that it is. 40/100
