Another often over-looked gem of a CD. this is AOR at it's finest. 'Never on Monday' should be in every textbook on how to write an AOR song.

From: kim Date: February 24, 2001 at 4:15
I live in Belgium and I'm looking for this cd all my life. I can 't buy it here, I know the songs & there fabulous.

I'm so glad I discovered this gem. New Moon is a killer track.

From: Harvey Date: October 24, 2001 at 13:55
Surely one of the best AOR albums of all time. File it alongside Tall Stories and the first Danger Danger album. Absolute travisty that it is so hard to get.

From: navaioh Date: November 3, 2001 at 12:02

Not to rain on anyone's parade, but the CDs you are asking for are quite rare (especially the Jude Cole and Glen Burtnick) whereas the Diving for Pearls was just reissued last year... expect to add some cash or other discs to your side of the trade.

From: Mitch Stevenson Date: May 6, 2002 at 10:20
I have been looking for this classic album on CD for about 10 years!!! My album version is almost worn out due to its constant playing. PLEASE HELP - Phone - 07866502175 (uk) if you have a copy for sale (even a bootleg copy on disc!)

From: TIM Date: June 3, 2002 at 0:22
Yeah, you're quite right Dan. West of Sunset: the Glen Burtnick is worth $305, the Lillian Axe is worth $47, and the Jude Cole S/T runs for $152 on Ebay. Your's is worth about $25. It would not be an even trade.

From: koogles Date: July 8, 2002 at 19:34
An absolute gem that's actually worth the eBay price tag... well-controlled AOR in the style of Valentine (with Hugo), Danger Danger's first one or Tall Stories. (Dead-on comparisons, Harvey!) 'New Moon' is first-rate all the way. So is 'Gimme Your Good Lovin' which deservedly hit the charts. I have an extra copy of this but there's no front booklet if anyone's interested. This is a MUST HAVE!!

From: JOURNEY Date: July 12, 2002 at 11:09
'You're All I Know' is a masterpiece and the best song here!!!!! GREAT ALBUM!!!!!!

From: freddy de keyze Date: September 19, 2002 at 2:51
Another CLASSIC record, a true AOR masterpiece ! Listen to the opener 'Gimme Your Good Lovin''and you will know what I mean. This CLASSIC should be also in your collection, no doubt ! BUY !!!!!!!!!!!!!

From: nitrodoll Date: September 19, 2002 at 6:32
this is beautiful aor..not a weak moment on this disc..this is in fact essential. i only have one question about this band..i have a song that isn't on the debut album : 'she sells sanctuary' which is a cover of the cult..is it maybe on the recently re issued version? anyone? nitrodoll

From: Date: October 13, 2002 at 16:35
To Mitch Stevenson: I can get one copy of this cd, new (sealed). If you're still interested, contact me at jsmnavarro@lycos.com

From: jsmnavarro Date: December 19, 2002 at 19:59
To nitrodoll: No, 'she sells sanctuary' (The Cult cover) is not in the reissued version. Maybe is a single B-side... jsmnavarro@lycos.com

For the other hand, anybody can give me some information about 'Band of Angels'? Was Danny Malone in this band? Please, e-mail me at: jsmnavarro@lycos.com

From: HG Date: January 4, 2003 at 5:41
If you like bands like Journey, these guys are for you. If your tastes are any heavier than that, you will think it's pretty weak.

From: freddy de keyze Date: January 17, 2003 at 8:38
For JSMNavarro : I think Malone was in Band Of Angels, but this CD is never released. Hope it will see the light of day sometimes. Record companies : where are you ? And I'm looking forward to hear the new Diving For Pearls ! And HG, this band is heavier than Journey and not that soft !!!

From: jsmnavarro Date: January 20, 2003 at 18:40
To Freddy de keyze: Thanks!! jsmnavarro

From: Paul (Proggy) Date: January 26, 2003 at 15:19
Guys whatever you do - find a copy of this album. It is a classic! A must for all AOR fans.

From: Henrik Date: April 7, 2003 at 16:08
Some of the Band of Angels songs can be found on the re-issued cd 'Change no Change' by Elliot Easton (The Cars.) Malone is singing. I believe at least one of these songs will appear on the new cd. Band of Angels also featured (besides Malone & Easton) Billy Branigan (Laura's bro)

From: JD Bradshaw Date: April 10, 2003 at 20:42
Diving for Pearls is a great band in the AOR hard rock genre..The songwriting is and musicianship are excellent..This album compares with Danger/Danger,Enuff Znuff,Badlands,Roxy Blue and Vandenburgs first albums..All are my fav...To bad I have the original cassette copy of DFP and its almost worn out..Why dont they reissue this masterpiece!!

From: vandervelde Date: June 26, 2003 at 11:46
It's unbelieveble that Atlantic dropped this band.....this band deserves a lot more attencion.....only if music rules were diffrent....check out the production from David Prater (Firehouse, Dream Theather)

From: freddy de keyze Date: June 26, 2003 at 11:51
Indeed a true pearl, this one, vandervelde ! I wonder how their second one, this year maybe, will sound ? !

From: jsmnavarro Date: June 29, 2003 at 19:51
Does Anybody know anything about the second one? I can't hardly wait...

From: David Date: June 29, 2003 at 21:46
Freddy De Keyze, where did you hear that they are doing another cd?

From: George Vader Date: June 30, 2003 at 4:17
A new Lp is scheduled for 'sometime in late summer'. Have a look at the band homepages section for updates etc... As for the debut? 10/10, fabulous stuff, not a single week moment amongst the 10 tracks!

From: jsmnavarro Date: July 28, 2003 at 9:12
Super aor cd!! 'Gimme your good lovin'' (the hit single), 'Have you forgotten?', 'I close my eyes' (what a song!!), 'Never on monday' (marvellous aor song), 'You're all I know' (aor heaven, nuff said!!)... Another MUST buy!! jsmnavarro@lycos.com

From: Scandi Date: August 1, 2003 at 20:43
I really, really DON'T know why this CD is so high-rated here?! I think it's very boring, simple-made stuff. OK, I agree that NEW MOON is the best, but still only 5 out of ten. If You like AOR please buy it if You wish, if You like Melodicrock -like me; what's actually the difference??- do Yourself a favour and pass behind this album. Buy instead Scandinavian stuff like TREAT, SKAGARACK, BAD HABIT, TALK OF THE TOWN etc. etc...

From: jsmnavarro Date: August 3, 2003 at 10:06
To Scandi: Boring??!! Ok, it's your opinion, but I still thinking is one of the best AOR cds ever!! Listen to 'I close my eyes', 'Never on Monday', 'You're all I know (don't you like this song??!!), 'Have you forgotten?' or 'New moon' again jsmnavarro

From: John Date: August 4, 2003 at 13:31
I used to love this and now I ask myself why. I love 'Gimme', 'Never on Monday' and 'Have You Forgotten'. I find myself wondering how I could have ever like a song as boring and repetitive as 'You're All I Know'. Allow me to explain. You're all I know, I can't let you go You're all I know, I can't let you go You're all I know, I can't let you go Not exactly Shakespeare when it reads like that, is it?

From: howe Date: August 5, 2003 at 6:11
Is the song New Moon the one that goes 'there's a new moon tonight, stars in your eyes...'? I remember this song but can't recall the name of the band. Can anyone help me here?

From: jsmnavarro Date: August 6, 2003 at 15:03
To john: All right, dude, it's just your opinion, but about 'You're all I know', allow me to explain you one thing: you don't need to be a poet to write a song!!! Repetitive song?? Ok, maybe, but feel the songs, friend, JUST FEEL them...don't waste your time looking for Shakespeare in music!!!! Cheers, jsmnavarro

From: John Date: August 6, 2003 at 15:14
That's fine jsm...The music is well written and performed. It's only the lyrics that I've outgrown. Cheers...JK

From: jsm Date: August 7, 2003 at 9:24
Ok John, no problems!! Cheers, jsmnavarro@lycos.com

From: Paul Ryan Date: August 11, 2003 at 16:03
To Howe - re your message on 5th August. Those lyrics are in the chorus for New Moon so you've got the right song and band. Excellent album. Gimme Your Good Lovin' is obviously the stand out track but Have you Forgotten, Never on Monday and The Girl Can't Stop it are excellent as well. Reminds me a lot of Tall Stories, Roxus and a male fronted Saraya. Is there any news on their 2nd CD. Is it still to be released?

From: howe Date: August 16, 2003 at 21:19
Thanks Paul. This really sounds like a good album. The song New Moon is in my 'want list' for many years and now I really gotta get this cd. Again, thanks.

From: Scandi Date: August 24, 2003 at 20:10
I agree with what John said. The lyrics are ABSOLUTELY aweful! Always the same. Disaccordingly to jsm I DO everytime look for some Shakespeare-alike stuff in lyrics. Mostly I get disappointed but some time I really get sadisfied! E.g.: JOEY TEMPEST in AOR and GEORGE MICHAEL in pop --the scandinavian/ english bands in AOR often write (not always!!!) good, intelligent lyrics.

From: Scandi Date: August 24, 2003 at 20:13
P.S.: By the way, how do you create the 'smileys' (especially that guy with the overflowing eyes??

From: musicfreak Date: August 25, 2003 at 8:51
Scandi, it's easy : you just have to click on the 'Standard smilies' blue link that you'll find below in the 'Add your own comments!' paragraph and then follow the instructions. An excellent album from Diving For Pearls, btw

From: jsm Date: August 30, 2003 at 10:06
To Scandi: Ok, you have your opinion, I got mine, I LIKE this cd, and I do not care what people say about it. Of course I respect your comment, so if you wanna say something more... jsmnavarro@lycos.com

From: Date: September 4, 2003 at 16:15
I really like NEW MOON and, OK, NEVER ON MONDAY is as well a good one but the rest.. Thanx for the introducion of how to use the smileys !! However I like the eek!-one the most!!!

From: bugrarife Date: September 26, 2003 at 19:18
One of the best Aor album i've ever listened.By the way who cares about lyrics their music is at the top

From: nicu rad Date: November 26, 2003 at 8:56
does anybody know ,if this band still exist and play.i only know 'bout this album, wich is great.

From: Harvey Date: November 26, 2003 at 17:50
Nicu, they are currently recording a new album for release in 2004. It's called 'Texas' and, judging by singer Danny Malone's comments on the Atenza Label's website, it should be a classic! I wish they'd hurry up though...they seem to have been recording it for the last 3 years!!!

From: AOR freaky Date: November 27, 2003 at 4:27
Indeed, this is AN ALL TIME CLASSIC, and a second is expected for 2004, called 'Texas' ! It will be on Atenzia, and that's the problem, I fear, because Atenzia is no longer a AOR/melodic hardrock label, but a punk/pop/nu-breed label (the opposite of what they promised !!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!) ! I'm afraid we will get a new DVP that will sound like Sum 41, Attraction 65, Shugaazer etc., no AOR at all ! But let's wait and cross our fingers. Hopefully Atenzia will release finally a record that's wor

From: AOR freaky Date: November 27, 2003 at 4:29
that's worth listening to, like the all time Diving For Pearls classic. Hopefully Danny gets the freedom from Atenzia to do what he wants to do !

From: jsm Date: November 27, 2003 at 12:08
For all those Diving for pearls fans out there, check out Atlantic 'Power' cd. Another gem!! jsmnavarro@lycos.com

From: KWFM.net Date: February 23, 2004 at 7:57
1ne of the best Rock album ever ! 10 pearls / 10 ! 2004 : now it's time for the 2nd comin' (TEXAS), 14 years after... Kick the Web For Music with KWFM.net ++ Rock Radio & 'zine ++ !

Im looking to get in touch with Yul Vazquez - i am an old friend of his.. if anyone can help me locate him please contact me ASAP - ttdiscipline11@aol.com or (917)217-2190 . Name is Allen Benatar. Thank you! (Son of Sol Benatar)

From: TIM (2) Date: May 27, 2004 at 6:21
Almost June 2004 and still waiting for new CD! Supposedly 'Texas' is due in July this year as apparently it's now ready, and with David Prater having produced and Yul Vazquez still involved there's no way this will be anything but great AOR. This debut still sounds amazing to this day, and really is way better than stuff like Tall Stories. If you can find Yul appearing on either of the 2 Urgent CDs then I recommend you grab them, great stuff.

From: AOR freaky Date: May 27, 2004 at 6:55
Dear TIM (2), don't be that sure it will be great AOR again. Don't forget there on Atenzia Records, my friend and the big chief there HATES classic, pure, true AOR. He thinks that we all should listen to what HE likes and that's : nu-breed, alternative pop/punk ! Listen to ALL recent Atenzia releases : they all sound the same. Modern, alternative ' la Blink 182 or Sum 41 ! Childish and crappy stuff ! I really hope this will be another AOR highlight, but with the Atenzia connection ,I doubt it.

From: Jez Date: May 27, 2004 at 14:54
My dear Freddy old chap - Atenzia is putting out some good stuff that definately doesnt sound all the same - What about the brilliant Spin Gallery, Mark Spiro etc. You have already mentioned that you like the Spin Gallery cd, so your comment re Atenzia is Bollocks! I thank you.

From: TIM (2) Date: May 28, 2004 at 4:44
And anyway, not all albums tarred with the 'nu-breed' brush are that bad. Didn't Atenzia release the Attraction 65 CD, which to these ears was fabulous. Back to Diving for Pearls, and I just can't imagine Danny Malone singing anything but AOR, he just has the voice for it. I do hope you're wrong AOR Freaky, I really do.

From: run2u Date: July 12, 2004 at 21:37
THE LEGEND. Again, 10/10. run2u69@hotmail.com

From: David Date: July 12, 2004 at 23:24
Does anyone know when the new album is coming out???

From: AOR freaky Date: July 13, 2004 at 4:12
Well, David, that's the question. It's announced more than once, but it still isn't released ! I think it will be somewhere in the fall, I hope. But I'm also a bit worried : will it the same sensational DVF that were gonna get or a nu-breed version ? ? ? Don't forget the band has a contract with Atenzia and all artists on that label are obliged to play modern/alternative rock from boss Magnus (see Blue Tears, Paul Laine, Mitch Malloy etc.). I'm afraid we can forget another classic AOR album !

From: Ton Jansen Date: July 13, 2004 at 15:33
No question about this one. This is a really classic. Only the last song is a little disappointing, the other 9 highlights. Great, great stuff even if this one is from a couple of years ago. It's not dated, even in 2004. Hope to hear more from these guys.

From: Paul Ryan Date: July 13, 2004 at 15:39
For fucks sake AOR Freaky, the album isn't even out yet and you're slagging it off already! You make yourself out to be an authority on AOR music but end up looking a right muppet every time. Let's wait until it comes out and THEN decide whether it's any good or not.

From: AOR freaky Date: July 13, 2004 at 17:30
My God ! Mr. Paul Ryan : read again what I wrote ! I only FEAR that it will be another nu-breed release, if you know the politics at Atenzia and the taste of Magnus ! Man, what did I wrong this time ! ! ! ? I' m getting sick to be attacked again and again and for what reason ? NONE, certainly not in this case ! READ man ! READ ! This time I'm getting angry ! Oh boy ! Insults are so cheap !

From: Paul Ryan Date: July 14, 2004 at 17:28
AOR Freaky, you said 'Don't forget the band has a contract with Atenzia and all artists on that label are obliged to play modern/alternative rock from boss Magnus see Blue Tears, Paul Laine, Mitch Malloy etc I'm afraid we can forget another classic AOR album'. How do you know? Have you heard it yet? NO, so don't make statements you can't back up. Plus it's not Blue Tears, just two members in a new band and Mitch Malloy wrote that album before he shopped it to labels. Let's stick to the facts.

From: Rockhead Date: July 15, 2004 at 4:26
I think the point Freaky was maqking is that maybe we shouldn't hold our breaths for an that sounds like this classic item. Artenzia (with a couple of exceptions 101 SOuth etc)has signed a lot of classic AOR related artists who have released much more modern and contempory releases which, has deflated a lot of hope balloons for fans wanting some melodic AOR with a retro twist. I am sure Freaky will be the 1st to sing from the rooftops if the new CD is classic-History could dictate otherwise.

From: TIM (2) Date: July 15, 2004 at 6:20
I agree, and Freddy is right about Magnus seemingly dictating this direction. I read an interview (I think on Melodicrock.com) with Greg Fulkersson saying that Magnus had hired them to make a 'modern' sounding CD. Even if you listen to the Blue Tears leftover tracks (like 'Call My Name') they sound modern. However, they did change their name, and the fact that this new album will be called Diving for Pearls still gives me some hope...

From: AOR freaky Date: July 15, 2004 at 6:58
Thanks, Tim(2) and Rockhead ! I pray it will be another classic AOR album, that's all I want ! But I have my doubts. Maybe Tim has it right : DFP didn't change their name and that gives us hope !

From: David Date: August 4, 2004 at 3:42
WHEN IS THE NEW CD COMING OUT??? I'M DYING FOR IT!!

From: updates Date: August 4, 2004 at 5:12
the new dfp is almost done, maybe just completed, just got an advance of 10 tracks, think it'll have 12-14 trax, alota people are gonna dig it......... hey prater u listening? thanks.

From: David Date: August 4, 2004 at 6:45
Is the new album gonna be similar to the first album (which everyone wants!!) or are they gonna turn to everyones worst friend (Modern rock)????

From: AOR freaky Date: August 4, 2004 at 15:33
Very good question, David !!!!!!!!!!! Let's pray they come with another AOR masterpiece and not with a crappy nu-breed release, obliged and forced by Atenzia, the worst label in the universe !

From: M. Sderkvist Date: August 5, 2004 at 8:40
Dear Mme. Freaky, here at Atenzia our focus is on the cutting edge of rock which is what you call 'nu-breed'. Many of these great musical acts have been hand-picked by myself and my associates for their incredible talent, and relevance to the music scene TODAY, not 30 years ago which appears to be your focus. The new DFP release will consist mainly of down-tuned guitars and heavy dirge-like anthems. Jack Moran on keys has been replaced by Kerry King, who is on a brief hiatus from Slayer.

From: M. Sderkvist Date: August 5, 2004 at 8:45
The marriage of King's fast, heavy style and Yul's light, airy bent will give the new release a distinct, tense and dynamic sound that I think all rock/pop fans will enjoy. I hope you will be among those who embrace this razor's edge of the new modern sound of AOR Mme. Freaky. I welcome your comments via email to magnus.soderkvist@atenzia.com or even by voice at +46(0)8 611 35 60. Cheers mate!

From: AOR freaky Date: August 5, 2004 at 15:03
Why discuss, Magnus ? ! 900f the true AOR fans find the releases of Atenzia these days CRAP !!!! Good is good, whether it's 1976 or 2004, and all these modern acts of yours are RUBBISH ! If you started the label you promised to offer the unserved audiance 'classic AOR ' la Foreigner, Journey,Boston etc. ! These are your own words, Magnus !!! You started great with brilliant acts as Harlan Cage, 101 South and Cannata !! But now ! ? If you tell me Jack Moran is kicked out, I know what to expect

From: AOR freaky Date: August 5, 2004 at 15:07
NO KEYS !!!!! An INSULT to AOR fans all over the world. And yes, another modern, nu-breed release ! Gone will be the typical DVP style ! Don't you have any shame, Magnus ? ! Listen what the fans write here ! They WANT another AOR masterpiece, no modern record ! ONLY YOU want that and you oblige the artists to do what you want ! A pity ! You don't listen to the fans ! In fact ,you have broken you word and your promises. I write this here so every fan should have the possibility to judge ! Oh boy

From: M. Sderkvist Date: August 5, 2004 at 15:15
I admit Herr Freaky, my original intent was to create no less than an idyllic nirvana-like atmosphere for all who love AOR. Since then I have recently partnered with Fred Durst to bring about a change in that landscape. Keyboards are for piano players my friend, and guitars are the answer to the future!!! All of the artists here at Atenzia are experimenting with dropped D, C and even B tuning. On the horizon you can expect to see duets/collaborations between...

We are even in negotiations to acquire the rights to both McQueen Street recordings!!! I hope you'll be ready for the rock and roll fire we've started. Don't get burned!!!

Nice joke, Magnus or who you may be ! Fact remains : the new DFP will be a DISASTER and that's bloody painfull !!!

From: Marla (MJ) Date: August 5, 2004 at 16:50
Freaky.....'WILL BE'??? Are you now Nostradamus?? Why not sit back..take a chill pill....and SEE what comes?? I personally like DFP......enough that I'd like to think I'm open minded enough NOT to start b*tching until I've actually HEARD the new disc. Back to THIS disc, though....I LOVE the songs 'I Close My Eyes' and 'Have You Forgotten'.

From: AOR freaky Date: August 5, 2004 at 16:59
Dear Marla(MJ) : I'm not Nostradamus ! Listen what Magnus from Atenzia writes HERE, my dear ! Jack Moran on keyboards has been kicked out ! His replacement is a fast guitarist ! Can you imagine DVF without keys ? ! Me not, that would be no longer DVP ! And the sound will be modern rock/pop ! Not my words but those from Magnus, chief of Atenzia. Or someone is fooling us (me !) or it's true. You see, dear Marla(MJ), the new record will be totally different. Is it that what you want ? ME NOT !!!

From: AOR freaky Date: August 5, 2004 at 17:01
Excuses : Not DVF or DVP but of course it has to be : DFP !!!!!!!!!

From: Marla (MJ) Date: August 5, 2004 at 17:08
lol.....ok DARLING.....you've made your point. NO....I can NOT imagine DFP without keys.....but I'm still going to wait to hear the new disc...before I dis it, SWEETHEART!!! 'Different' is not ALWAYS a bad thing....DEAR.

**Please note.....tongue planted firmly in cheek for the previous post** LOL...please don't call me 'dear'!

AOR Freaky, can you not smell a rat or what? If that really is Magnus, (which I doubt very much!), he realises that if anybody has a different opinion to you, you slag them off as being wrong so he's obviously doing it to piss you right off! Do you really take those comments seriously? Let's wait until it comes out, check MelodicRock.com for soundbytes and then comment on whether it's classic DFP, which we both want, or some new sound. I'm not at war with you, just wish you were more tolerant.

From: David Date: August 6, 2004 at 0:13
I'm with AOR Freaky!! No-one wants to hear a classy band like DFP do this nu-breed rubbish, there are so many other bands you can go to for that trash. I have been waiting so long for this cd but I fear the worst too:-(

From: AOR freaky Date: August 6, 2004 at 5:04
Me, I'm tolerant, David ! But I can't stand it when some people will destroy a great act. And yes, I HATE nu-breed and all modern rock ! Don't I have the right to do so ? ! I'm a defender of classic AOR and melodic (hard)rock and pomp ! Is there something wrong with that ? ! These are the genres I LOVE ! And it are these genres a lot of people want to destroy ! After all: this web is still named : HEAVY HARMONIES : the hard rock and AOR reference on internet ! That's clear, isnt'it ! All those

From: AOR freaky Date: August 6, 2004 at 5:09
here into modern, alternative (punky) stuff, what I call kids/childish stuff, should visit other sites on the net ! And they shouldn't spoil our genres and beloved acts ! Is that intolerant ? ! Don't think so, David ! Isn't it time that more people defend true, classic AOR, hardrock, pomp rock etc., instead of praising all these modern acts, who can barely play their instruments, let's stand writing a decent song ? ! I'm a DEFENDER of pure, CLASSIC AOR, hardrock, pomp and I'm proud of it !

From: Paul Ryan Date: August 6, 2004 at 14:12
Errrrm, AOR Freaky, my name is Paul, not David. His was the post below mine!!. That's not like you to not read something properly then start arguing about it ;-). I too hope it's the classic DFP sound. Any difference to the first CD and I won't be buying it. We both agree on that one. I too love Classic, Melodic Rock and AOR and have done since the late 70's and I'll defend it just like you against shitty nu-breed music. Let's end this now and just wait until the album comes out and comment then

From: AOR freaky Date: August 6, 2004 at 15:33
Sorry, Paul and also David ! I know you are both on my side and we agree not to buy it if it is modern crap ! Nice ! All the best, guys !

From: M. Sderkvist Date: August 9, 2004 at 8:49
Truly I am hurt by your lack of support for the as yet unreleased DFP album. This will be an incredible release, full of the crunching guitars, gang vocals, and pounding double kick drums that today's modern music fan loves! More so than embracing the sounds that are 'hot' in today's market, we've railed against those sounds that are hated by everyone and tried to create the opposite effect. Seriously Dr. Freaky, like everyone else, you must hate crap bands like (cont.)...

From: M. Sderkvist Date: August 9, 2004 at 8:52
...(cont.) Mecca, Legs Diamond, Pride of Lions, Uriah Heep, Van Stephenson, etc. I mean, nobody actually listens to that nonsense anymore, right? So the new DFP embraces the dark side to put forth a powerful opus, hotter than the fires of hell!!! I can hardly wait for you to hear it! I and the band are literally trembling with anticipation. I know you will not walk away disappointed. Until then rock on my friend!

From: AOR freaky Date: August 9, 2004 at 10:26
I don't know why I react, but if you are the real Magnus (which I doubt seriously !), you'll never write down such nonsense ! And yes, I LISTEN to 'nonsense' and 'crap'like Legs Diamond, Mecca, Van Stephenson, Pride Of Lions, Uriah Heep and a add Bad English, Survivor, The Storm, Foreigner, Night Ranger, I-Ten, Fortune, Streets, Boulevard, Signal, the V.U. !I wish all recent releases were such 'crap' ! I would be a far better place to live here ! And h', enjoy the new DFP you'll be the only one

'90. and music from nowdays is totally non-inventive, boring as hell, in one word CRAP! I really don't believe that's real Magnus, so 'Magnus', stop shitting, and if you really are who you say, than...

From: Geoff Date: September 1, 2004 at 19:56
I'm truly amazed if there is anyone here who does believe that is the real Magnus - truly stunned, in fact. He couldn't really make it more obvious he's having a lend of you guys... but anyway, this CD is f*cking excellent. 'Never on Monday' is one of my favourite songs ever, and every single one of the first 6 songs are absolutely superb. I can't even pick a second fave as they are all perfect. Absolutely essential melodic rock release. Highly recommended!!!

He may not be the real Magnus but, hats off, it's a fucking hilarious read! Slayer's Kerry King in DFP?...you're a genius mate. I think the real worry here is not that DFP will attempt to turn into some 'nu-breed' or 'nu metal' band, more the following: a) They have no major label budget, which means the recording quality will almost certainly be lo-fi/half-assed (see Giant's last release) b) Nothing that is built up to this level of anticipation can ever live up to its expectations! (see Journey) c) No artist of that era has, thus far, succeeded in recording anything more than a a tired re-hash of their old sound (see Silent Rage, Autograph, Firehouse) I certainly hope I'm proven wrong, but perhaps we should concentrate on what else is available out there? Try the debut Nine Days album...nothing like DFP but equally as classic and just as majestic!

I Hope they will make a great return. I have this cd, and a bootleg by them recorded from the soundboard I think. Its awesome, and the musicians are just superb.

From: getit Date: November 25, 2004 at 8:30
The new cd is now sceduled for a March '05 release. For those worrying about the sound...It's not a typical release, becuse it has been in the works for so long. It has been recorded and produced by David Prater in his 'spare time', and Prater won't put his name on anything that's not perfect. (He's far from satisfied with the sound on the debut.) There really isn't any DFP. The band parted ways after they were dropped some 15 years ago, so on the new one there's just Danny Malone and Prater.

From: getit Date: November 25, 2004 at 8:38
(cont.) with David Zajicek from Airborne fame helping out on guitars and b.vocals. The cd will contain HEAVILY DISTORTED Hammond organ, which is cool. By the way, it's recorded on a Roland 2480HD. The debut was recorded on a Mitsubishi X-850 32 track and mixed to an X-850 2 track.

Killer CD ranked among the best of all-time in AOR. Believe the hype. Not a band song on it and forever memorable songs throughout. I Close My Eyes is my favorite. Find it and buy it. This one is a keeper.

A very good rock aor release, when I first heard a tune when it came out, for a minute, I thought it was John Waite!!! sounds a bit like him. Great songs that will get you!!! Just great catchy rock aor with some fantastic melodic guitar parts. Favs are Gimme, New Moon, Never On Monday, and You're all I know!!!

From: Lennie Date: April 18, 2005 at 13:13
I was thinking exactly the same as swriter when I listened to this today - that he does sound reminiscent of John Waite, but better. This album's production is so polished you could eat yr dinner off it. Songs are ALL great, but my fav is 'I dont want to cry' which has class written all over it ! PS Thank God for Geoff, who has an uncanny knack of bringing the comments back to reality, after an endless stream of nonsense.

Another one of the late 80's must have releases, and one that was only held off top position by a couple of other releases that year (Strangeways & Giant) in my estimation. Does this deserve the 'Classic' status people give it - I would say yes, although the best AOR album ever released would be stretching it a bit for me. Nevertheless, this is a beg, borrow, steal album, so if you don't yet have it, get out the wads of cash you will probably have to throw at it.

Fantastic record indeed, BUT . . . Danny a better singer than John Waite ? ! You're joking here, Lennie ! Spoken of nonsense !!! John has showed he's a top singer in bands like The Babys and Bad English ! Danny does a fine job here, but he still has a long way to go, to compete with John !

Indeed one of the (if not THE) best AOR releases of all time. Diving for Pearls are known and loved all around the world. To understand what i'm talking about, and in case my word for it is not enough, all you have to do is check a few pages on the internet and THEN YOU'LL KNOW. I've never seen such an unanimous opinion about an album, as I do with this one. It's a true gem, worth any price it costs in any country! Buy it, listen to it and rate it a 10! Best song? 1989 was one of those years when a lot bands release their debut and in many times their only album. One of the finest examples is DIVING FOR PEARLS. A SUPERB album from start to finish, to me it sounds like half hard rock and half AOR, so it will be a great addition to any collection of Hard rock/AOR. Altrough they never get the attention they deserved, it has been somewhat of a 'cult band'. After being out of print for years, Rock candy records (UK) have re-released it in '06.

totally overrated. Great production and vocals don't necessarily mean a great album. The songwriting is nothing exceptional here. There are tons of better stuff than this one...I close my eyes is the best track by far, the rest is just too forgettable. It really hits me on the nerves when albums like this are rated so high. If that one is 90 or 100/100 what about bands like Survivor, Triumph, Atlantic, White Sister, Witness, Red Dawn etc Should they get 200/100?

Tastes differ right? Well, you can say this is so overrated but it just tastes man! This is Melodic Rock with an AOR Side and this MR is Really Awesome to me. I had a CD-r copy but three years ago i have it in Original CD Remastered by Rock Candy. Danny Malone has a special voice and you Must notice on Marvellous songs like "New Monday"(What a song man! AOR HEAVEN!) "Never On Monday" "I Close My Eyes" "Gimme Your Good Lovin'" "You're All I Know".. are great songs indeed. David Prater did a fantastic job on production here. The Remastered CD contains these Bonustracks: 11)Dear Prudence Demo(Beatles cover) 12)I Close My Eyes(Live) 13)Gimme Your Good Lovin'(Live) 14)The Girl Can't Stop It(Live) 15) She Sells Sanctuary(The Cult cover (live)). 9.9/10

I consider myself a big AOR fan, but I don't see what's so special about this release? This is basically the same song done 10 times over...enough to put you to sleep. Good vocals, yes, good production, yes, but the songs...? No, not for me. There are tons of better AOR releases out there.

Some over the top comments about this. Not a masterpiece but a very good album, well written & produced with 4/5 quality songs & the rest all decent. Probably one of the better ones of the over-hyped & so-called "should have been huge " bands who never made it, but definitely not a masterpiece.

From: newscandi Date: January 10, 2012 at 22:35
I'm absolutely with elljam or the other guys who set the light right. It's poor standart aor for me. I bought this once cos I read these positive comments on top of the page, then sold it straight away after ripping just the two of "New moon" & "Never on mondays".

From: Rob Rocker Date: May 18, 2012 at 12:37
I bought this CD based on the overwelming amount of positive reviews on this site, but I have to say I'm a little dissapointed. The vocals/musicians are great, I have the remastered edition that sounds fantastic, but I found the songs to be completely forgettable. After repeated listens, the only song that sticks with me is "Gimme You Good Lovin'". IMO, the songs/songwriting sounds like what you would find as the soundtrack to some generic movie or t.v. show. Overall not a bad CD, but basically background music.

From: 123charpenay Date: May 18, 2012 at 16:17
to rob rocker.i respect but i am very surprised by your comments.have you listen track n° 3 "i closed my eyes".this song is an atomic bomb a real hit who go in your brain forever.

From: Doghouse Reilly Date: September 23, 2015 at 22:03
I discovered the song "Gimme Your Good Lovin'" on an old cassette I'd recorded off the radio in 1999. The station was doing an all-'80's weekend, and I would just roll tape on whatever song that came up that I didn't already have and tha tsounded cool and hard. So I taped that song, and then didn't think about it again for a decade and a half, literally. I had to GOogle the lyrics to find out who it was. So anyway, I checked the disc out. In 1983, I bet these guys would've had a smoother sound, but in 1989, you had to pretend to some metal aspirations because AOR was becoming the bastion of the square and the middle-aged. Still, DFP sounds like hard Night Ranger to me. Glossy, not glam. Slick, not sleazy. Kind of mild, really, but not bad.

From: edwithmj Date: October 11, 2015 at 17:59
This sounds like Night Ranger mixed with Dean Ortega from Neverland and the result is something I didn't expect to be so unique - and so good. Gimme Your Good Lovin' is excellent from the opening riff, Have You Forgotten is a decent AOR track too; Close My Eyes is a super track with a slightly dark feel to it I think and it's definitely my favourite - the vocals are very catchy indeed; New Moon is a nice ballad with wonderful acoustic guitar; Never on Monday really sounds a lot like Neverland I feel and has sensational vocals; You're All I Know is a similar song to track 2 and it works very well; my final favourite is Keep Your Love Alive which has a great rhythm. The vocals are superb in this one and the melodies created by the keys and guitars are very addictive.

From: tomdwa Date: July 7, 2020 at 12:04
As stated by others above, I also think this is not the 'gem' that some hear in it. Almost all the songs sound alike, the cd has a very generic feel. But You're all I know is indeed a very good track, very well executed.
