A dark horse this one, many of the songs dropping the heavy instead going for old school Cult, cruising along like Love or slight kicks similar to Electric, comment above re DirtyLittleRockStar quite right even if borrowed from themselves... TigerInTheSun is the album's masterpiece, the lyrics thoughtful and the tune is tremendous... Illuminated and Citizen rock along nicely, I Assassin gets Ceremonial and album closer Sound of Destruction has the swagger of old and is a brilliant tune! The B-Side version offers more solid tracks and all in all this is one heck of an album just waiting to be discovered. Seriously, deserving of much more attention! Shoulda fared better! |

quite enjoyable release by THE CULT a few years ago.the sound is updated ,but the quality and the attitude is still here.many different elements in their songs, from hard to more alternative and to classic rock again.highlights are "dirty little rockstar" ,"illuminated" and " born into this".not bad |

Pretty enjoyable release indeed!!!..maybe not The Cult at its best but surely an album that will put a in your face...recommended is "The Savage Edition" of this one with a bonus cd with some "alternate" versions..."Dirty Little Rockstar" is the one i really enjoyed the most but add to that "Born Into This","Citizens","I Assassin"(rocks!)& "Illuminated"...from "Savage Edition" i'd take "War Pony Destroyer","I Assassin"(demo) & "Savages"(full lenght version)...88/100 ...Ian Astbury still rocking the house!!! |
