Seven Ten's debut was released last year with very little fanfare(unfortunately),so not a lot of people know about them. Lead singer Michael St. Allen's vocal style is very similar to Kevin Dubrow's at times, but his voice sounds "fresh and different" on the majority of this disc."The Calling" must be an homage to Motley Crue's "In the Beginning", as you'll immediately think of the Crue when you hear it. They then go into "The Chosen One", which walks the line between hard rock and pure metal... |

...tracks 3-5 are all traditional rockers, followed up with my favorite song on the disc "Cross My Heart"; a kick@ss power ballad! The remainder of the disc is filled with, again, traditional 80s style hard rockers. If you're looking for a disc that will take you back to the 80s/early 90s with its sound and lyrics, this will do the trick. You can check out some sound samples from them at their homepage (link above), and can order the disc directly from the band as well. Worth checking out IMO! |

Hailing from Chicago comes Seven Ten. I live in germany and got this cd from a friend before it officially came out. This is an amazing piece of work. The best tracks are the St. Allen written tracks. The entire cd reminds me of 1985 all over again. The band re-worked several older songs as well as the lillian axe/jon ster song why'd you lie. This is a one of a kind in 2004. I have been told the band is due to release a new cd this year. I have my fingers crossed. Check out www.sevententheband.c |

Seve Ten has that American stadium hard rock style made famous in the 1980's. If you like it loud and over the top, then this is for you. Sing-a-long choruses and strong riffs make for a CD that the old school rockers will drool over. "Love In A Bottle" and "Tied Up In Love" make this point clearly. "Cross My Heart" is the CD's ballad and reminds of Slaughter/Steelheart style. Fans of the glory days of the L.A. metal scene will love this. |

Great hard rock. A very consistent release and I really must whip this one out again. Recommended for fans of good solid hard rock. |

Here's an interesting note about this one Track 5, "Why'd You Lie" is the same song as found on the Sgt. Roxx release "Push and Squeeze". |

This one starts out smokin'! From the direct rip off of In the Beginning(Motley),into the rocker The Chosen One. What a great start. It continues. Tied up in Love, Live For Today, Why'd you lie, Cross my Heart and Love in a bottle (Yukon Jack!!!)drive this album. MSA has a great voice that does mimic Dubrow for sure. That is not a bad thing. The bad thing is the filler in tracks 8,9,10 and 11. At least Love and War closes this one out with a positive. A good start. I am ready to hear album #2. |
