SALTY DOG guitarist PETE REVEEN currently plays in a great rock band in LAS VEGAS, NV called TWEED. They do have a CD out and they play SAMS TOWN casino every Friday night starting at 9:30 PM. Pete is a very cool friendly guy with lots of rock 'n' roll stories so you should stop in and see this band if you are ever in VEGAS. He told me about a possible Salty Dog reunion in the future!!

Salty Dog sounds real, not lost in a billion dollars worth of production. Has that bar room feel and Jimmi's got a hell of a set of pipes. "Come Along" is seductively sly and absolutely first-rate. Get this one because it's eBay value has been steadily on the rise.

Great CD. Buddy of mine bought this one after he saw "Lonesome Fool" video on Headbangers Ball on MTV. He let me borrow it and I was hooked. Great band and loved the squeal of the guitar. Reminded me of Zakk Wylde but had its own bluesy sound. Loved all the songs but # 8-13 was awesome. Y'all come back now ya hear.

A real MASTERPIECE of "dirty blues rock". So enjoyable to listen. Perfect album cover. I wish the band would release many other albums. But ya know; "The good ones doesn't live long", so these guys once sparkled and soon disappeared. The album is already a rock classic for me and has a special place in my collection.

Probably one of the best Sleaz recordings ever. Bluesy feel, great harmonies, John Bonham-like drummer. No weak songs. They should have been big like Motley Crue or Aerosmith (justy like LA Guns should have). 9.5\10.

Well... Freddy,my dear belgian friend... I don't think so. The fact is that you don't like this album, and that's absolutely your right. But you don't have to qualify it that way. Because after such comments, you'll wonder why some people here will still see you as the narrow-minded AOR/pomp fan. Remember, it's all about personal taste : to each their own...

From: Trick Taylor |

Freddy, you sarcastic sonofabitch, keep up the good work. To me, Salty Dog serves as a nice diversion from keyboard fills and whammy bar heroics. Don't get me wrong, the "roots rock" on this disc is as contrived as anything, but at least it was a different crap sandwich they were trying to feed us. Jimmi's voice is a little much at times, but no denying the fun of "Come Along" nad "Ring My Bell", especially when you are 2 sheets to the wind. Bueno musico del rock! (I was feeling left out).

Since when is it legal to use my name ? Yes, I like keyboard driven AOR/pomp ! So what ! To the coward that uses my name : have the balls to say who you really are. Isn't it allowed to have different opinions ? Why using my name ?! Be honest, say what you have to say, but do it correctly ! Don't ever use my name again, mate ! I advise you that to avoid big problems for you ! A warned man is worth two ! Understood ! If you like Salty Dog, fin, I don't. So what ?!

At the risk of alerting big brother I will say to Freddy that if I am who you are referring to, I meant no harm in "using your name". I was actually complementing you on what I thought was a very clever post. Maybe you are continuing the "pomp lover" schtick or maybe you are just nuts. If you are playing with us then kudos for keeping things loose. I can't imagine why you would actually be angry, mate.

|
From: freddy de keyze |

I'm not that angry, it just isn't fair to use someone others name. And to Blue Charvel: well, if you don't take me seriously, that's your problem, not mine. It's sad that having an own opinion (even it's hard sometimes) isn't accepted. Is this the free world we all dreaming of ? !

From: Connaisseur |

What's sad Monsieur de keyze, is that your own opinion is not enough for you, you have to also tell everyone else that their opinions are wrong because YOU are the one who REALLY knows what AOR is, etc., etc., etc. But then we're going over much travelled ground again and ya still don't get it...it's probably why your pal from Deutschland was poking a little fun at you.

Blue Charvel, I don't pretend to know it all. I only can tell you that I listen to music over 35 years now, that I have a large collection with titles you probbly never have heard of, so I think I can say something about AOR and pomp, because they are my fave genres. But you have the right to think you know more ! That's possible ! But prove it !

This is not the bebst produced cd Ive ever heard. :-) BUT this has the garage sound sleeze rock should have. I can highly recomend this. Cats got nine, is a really catchy tune. I think Salty Dogs have a quite unique sound and way of playing. THere were too many posers and wannabees in that periosd. trying to be like Poison/Motley. Salty didnt.

Found this C.D. at a flea market for $3.00 in mint condition. They didn't know what they had because this ROCKS!! I stuck it in my C.D player on the ride home and it stayed there for a week. The music is late eighties hair band metal with some bluesy elements, with catchy hooks and all around good tunes. I remember seeing the video for "Come Along" on Headbanger's Ball. The first time I saw SD was at a bar called Bangles in Denver. A cover band allowed them to "sit-in" for a few tunes (They were playing the bar the next night), they broke into "Come Along" and me and my buddies jaws dropped! They were out-f*ckin-rageous! Needless to say, we were instant fans, saw the show the next night and even without radio play yet, we started playing "Come Along" in our cover band right away. One of the koolest groups ever. If you like this, try "Cats In Boots" also.

This was one of the first CDs I ever sold because I just didn't like it at all. Whilst I imagine it is good for the others who like Junkyard and Badlands and the like, not exactly the ideal CD for a melodic / glam / sleaze (surprisingly) hard rock lover. Very average songs and once again all sounded like fillers to me.

Salty dog is very boring and i donīt call it glam, it is hard rock with zeppelin influences and every song is very similar each other. Once i have this cd and i throw it to garbage can! Singer is very shitty and have boring voice! Nothing good thing to say about this cd!

I gave this one a raw deal on my fist post awhile back. Dusted it off for a road trip and found a gem of back to basics blues. "Come Along" is a classic of the era and "Just Like a Woman" is the power ballad soaked in whiskey and heartache. Not for everybody, but great for me.

This is a decent release, but it didn't live up to the hype of all the comments. Fans of Badlands, Cinderella, Faster Pussycat, G'N'R, Tesla and Junkyard will probably like this. It is growing on me the more I play it.

Really overrated. Decent hard rock with some bluesy touch at times, but nothing unforgettable.

The bluesy spirit of Led Zeppelin, the sleaze taste of Faster Pussycat and L.A.Guns, the charming trash sound of Guns'n'Roses and the southern mood of the most classic Nugent in a one and only wonderful album......I will always adore this one.

If you compare them to Faster Pussycat they suck too!!!, and this CD is boring and forgettable. As for Zepplin, totally overated and personally I dont like em...KEEP ROCKIN ALL!!!

To me, these guys were somewhere in between Cinderella, with their obsession with the blues and more diverse songwriting, and Jackyl, with the thumping bass and extra bit of heaviness (and the shrieky singer). I like most of the songs, although "Sun Don't Shine" and a couple others don't really do it for me. Favorites would have to be "Come Along" (of course), "Cat's Got Nine," "Ring My Bell," "Slow Daze" and the blues cover "Spoonful." But my A-1 prime cut favorite has got to be the awesome "Just Like A Woman," with that awesome, almost country feel, the sweet guitar tones, and some of the best pure singing on the disc. I'm completely addicted to that song.

let just say this album is a mediocre and nothing else. i don't like the vocals here,to me it shows how is the singer sufering when he sings. their sound is way different than the sound of the majority of bands of that era. my favs: Come Along, Cat's Got Nine, Sacrifice Me (superb ballad)

There are a few good tunes on this one but overall kinda dissapointing...considering how good Come Along is anyway. I bought this the very day I heard Come Along for the first time. It has a southern rock feel to me with a few elements of hair bands. Decent vocals but a great bass guitar and drum sound...very unique IMO. Thumbs up!

i remember when i got this record, i had heard that this would be good so i bought it. Well it took only few times to listen and tell that this band sucks, very boring stuff with bad singer. Led Zeppelin influenced blues rock which donīt have nothinī to offer, boring songs, no killer riffs n singer makes me want to blow my ears off. I was wondering how someone said that who likes G nī R n Faster Pussycat would like this HELL no! i like both bands but i donīt see nothing common to those bands.

Got this recently via E-Bay and is a cool release rather than a real a** kicking one IMO...some good songs in the shape of "Ring My Bell","Keep Me Down","Heave Hard(She Comes Easy)","Slow Days","Sacrifice Me"(great softy & rocking ballad)& "Nothin' But A Dream"(kick a**!)...only one album and vanished away...underrated band...87/100
