Finally one of the finest voices from Sweden releases another album. The production, including Tommy Denander, is great, love the songs and this really proves that Mr Jidhed's still going strong I haven't heard anything like this since the original Alien line-up back in the late 80's!

From: AOR freaky Date: December 18, 2003 at 5:34
Another newie and some think it's one of the finest AOR albums of this year. Hmm. . ., personally I don't agree. It's certainly not a bad release, far from it, but if you have to compare this to other AOR releases (album of the year 'Pride Of Lions', Ramos, Outland, Double Cross, Vertigo, Departure, etc.), it's not that great. A fine record, but not a great one.

Definately one of the highlights of the year for me. Freddy-your list is ok -some goodish releases, but none are better than this one. The Pride Of Lions Is Excellent, but the others, especially 'Outland' were big dissapointments. Anyways This here JJ cd is superb from beginning to end, and if you're a big Tommy Denander fan (which i am) you won't go wrong. Consistently strong throughout unlike some of the so so releases at the moment/ this year.

From: AOR freaky Date: December 18, 2003 at 9:56
I can understand your comment, Jez. Let's say, most AOR releases this year are on par, only Pride Of Lions is out of category for me ! Outstanding record, that one !

From: tomcat Date: December 18, 2003 at 11:22
the song 'don't close your eyes' makes my day..excellent tune..other listening tips: 'now we cry', 'full circle' and 'are we're fallin' in love'.

From: koogles Date: December 23, 2003 at 11:47
Why does everything touched by Tommy Denander sound like the balls have been strangled out of it? For fans of Mecca, Radioactive, Pride of Lions are other Toto-esque AOR CDs that just don't rock enough for me. Mature, safe AOR. At least this is a notch above the last few Heartland releases.

From: Chris Date: December 23, 2003 at 16:43
A fine album, nicely produced and some great songs. Lost Angels is very interesting indeed, almost as good as Mr Perrys own version. Koogles is spot on, this is mature , safe AOR, that although its very good, it doesn't rock quite hard enough.

From: AOR freaky Date: January 6, 2004 at 10:41
I'm back !!! Dear Koogles and dear Chris : tell me what's wrong with releases like Pride Of Lions or Mecca ? ! Not rocking hard enough ? ! Joking ? It's AOR after all, not hardrock ! There's a big difference between pure AOR and hardrock ! And bot POL and Mecca are perfect AOR, the way all AOR should be played ! A lot of people think that Journey is the ultimate AOR act : well, I don't agree, but do they really rock ? NO ! Only more rocking record is Frontiers, the rest is safe, like this, not ba

From: ROB GARCIA Date: January 19, 2004 at 15:41
IMHO this and the mecca album were the best aor albums of 2003...now thats what i call quality aor!!.

From: Mallorca's rock Date: February 28, 2004 at 15:03

From: marciotex@arrow Date: March 29, 2004 at 8:53
great album for a great singer!! awesome is the word!! keep on rockin'!!

From: Peter Date: March 31, 2004 at 21:28
He will be back with Alien this year!!! Jim and Tony are recording a new album together as ALIEN!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! Out in air after this summer 2004!! Have your eyes open boys and girls!!!

From: TIM (2) Date: June 2, 2004 at 13:02
Great stuff, with some real quality tracks. However it's beaten well and truly by his magnificent debut (listed elsewhere under 'Jim') which has better songs and production. This is still pretty essential though. Am delighted to hear he's back with Alien, but I still prefer his solo stuff...

From: Wotty Date: August 13, 2004 at 11:34
Hey Tim[2],Jim-debut or Jim-Full Circle,it is definitely the latter. On the plus side,ALIEN,bring it on.

From: Wotty Date: August 31, 2004 at 9:32
Listened to this earlier on.Simply stunning piece of AOR....

From: Geoff Date: August 31, 2004 at 10:18
A good release, though nowhere near a fave of mine. I really love the ballad, 'I can't go on', but I'll take the debut Alien album thanks. Good AOR, but not really my cup of tea.

From: Wotty Date: August 31, 2004 at 10:41
Geoff,a good mini-review/reply.And no little digs at Tommy Denander. You must be mellowing Sir....

From: Dani Date: October 4, 2004 at 13:32
Simply, one of the best recordings I've listened lately. Vocals are amazing, and the line up is high quality!!

From: z4roxx Date: January 12, 2005 at 17:22
I'm tryin'to find a better aor release than this one but it's really difficult, maybe impossible!!that's a marvellous supermegamasterpiece!!I think songs as"now we cry","I will never..."but expecially"falling in love",one of the best aor song as always!!!Thanks Jim Jidhed, you're GREAT!!!!!!!!

From: Wotty Date: January 12, 2005 at 17:36
To z4roxx.I agree, this is a superb piece of high quality A.O.R.You only have to see who's on it to appreciate how good it is. !!!

From: Swriter Date: April 3, 2005 at 15:52
man, well there been lots of great new albums with not so great production, this is not one of them, this is a fantastic production and clear.crisp sounding disk. All songs are wonderful from start to finish, a good one!!!

From: swriter Date: August 28, 2005 at 12:19
so ay word on the Alien dark eyes coming, there r a few samples on rock report!!!!

From: Axe-Machine Date: September 8, 2005 at 8:38
One of 21st Century AOR's finest moments. Falling In Love, I Will Never Leave You Now, Full Circle, I Cant Go On, Now We Cry...oh to hell with it....they're all ACE! Quite suprising that Atenzia released this one as they generally swing in a more modern direction. Well all I can say is that the boss must have been on vacation because this is 100% 80s style AOR. Sheer Brilliance. 9.5/10

From: JF Date: September 9, 2005 at 8:15

From: Jasper Date: September 9, 2005 at 15:40
This is absolutely fantastic AOR heaven. On the second or third spin it just grabs you and doesn't let go! My personal favourite is 'I'll be ready then'. The production makes even the one, maybe two, fillers appear top notch. Sincerely hope this guy records another solo record of this quality.

From: Lovedrive Date: January 6, 2006 at 7:37

From: ROBERT Date: February 13, 2006 at 19:21
Me encanta, Recomendado!!

From: matutedevit Date: November 13, 2006 at 20:32
Just amazing!! Tommy Denander does a perfect production and playing job!!! I love this album!!!

From: juan carlos Date: January 18, 2007 at 22:52
"Wish You Where Here" sería sin dudar, que delicia de canción!. 9/10

From: juan carlos Date: May 22, 2007 at 16:38

From: AORster Date: July 10, 2007 at 14:45
I was completely blown away when I first heard this and I still think it's one of the best Swedish AOR CD:s ever.

From: PODEROSO YIRO Date: February 6, 2008 at 19:57
I have to disagree with some of you about this album. Not a bad album at all, In fact there´s a lot of quality in the songs as well as on the production. Great Keyboards, Good style which i think is a mix between latest JOURNEY, the MECCA album and a little bit of westcoast. BUT ¿Where´s the classical voice of JIM JIDHED? It sounds like there´s another singer instead of Jim. I consider that every singer has his vocal style which is one of the elements to recognize them easily... well

From: PODEROSO YIRO Date: February 6, 2008 at 20:04
in this album, it seems like Jim was listening a lot of Steve Perry´s albums. The influence was so big that Jim´s Voice sounds here in a very very Steve Perry style and i think it is a big mistake IMO. I think most of the songs, despite of their good musicianship work, lack of Hooks, i think some of the songs doesn´t have efectiviy. Anyway i think "Silence of Your Heart" and "Lost Angels" are great tracks. His first album is a lot better!!

From: DanDare Date: January 23, 2010 at 19:21
A good album that bubbles along nicely with pop inflections. There's not a lot here to be offended by and plenty to enjoy. 82/100

From: BDrums1971 Date: March 21, 2011 at 8:24
I had this one for a while and decided to get rid of it. Jim has a good voice, but the songs just don't do if for me. The production is a little weak as well. Just feels a little sub par all around for me, seems to lack heart. I don't know how to describe it, but not a keeper for me. Sorry.

From: rick kerch vzla Date: May 16, 2012 at 23:25
Nice album overall..if it is great or not is a matter of personal tastes(according to some comments above)...as for me goes it passed the test with high notes ...my faves are "I Will Never Leave You Now"(killer song!),"Full Circle"(nice & catchy modern rock sound song),"Anyway You Want It","I'll Be Ready Then"(mega ballad!) & "Falling In Love"...the voice of Alien surely delivered quality in here...recommended...87/100

From: titothetitan Date: November 23, 2017 at 12:41
This is what Alien 'Dark Eyes' should have sounded.

From: titothetitan Date: November 7, 2019 at 11:17
This is how Alien [Dark Eyes] should have sounded like. *
