Existing comments about this CD

From: M. Allen Date: December 3, 2003 at 21:08
Overrated, overhyped, overpriced. Very dull. Somebody should've lit a fire under this band & told them to inject some energy into their tunes & not settle for connect-the-dots songwriting. This CD is proof that just because it's rare & expensive doesn't always mean it's good. If you must own every melodic hard rock album out there, then sure, pick this up, but odds are you won't listen to it again for a decade. There are grunge songs better than this, and that's saying something...

From: rocketron Date: December 4, 2003 at 11:22
Totally disagree with above commmments. This is classy AOR brilliantly produced by Jean Beauvoir and his influence is clearly heard.

From: AOR freaky Date: December 5, 2003 at 4:36
Mr.Allen, you're so wrong and rocketron : you're right man ! This is a fine, classy AOR record ! And I have the intention to say : for those that don't know this fine AOR record : search it. You won't be disappointed at all ! And who's gonna insult me now for saying this ?

From: aorjocke Date: December 8, 2003 at 8:09
This is a very good AOR album, it contains both rockers and nice ballads.Best songs are in my opinion 'Hold On' and 'Spark and Flame' who both is perfect AOR songs in the same style as Drive She Said.

From: peter poland Date: January 1, 2004 at 9:10
great classy AOR record, i'd say underrated. This guys sounds like Aor from early 90's should be.

From: vandervelde Date: January 29, 2004 at 10:53
Great AOR very much like STRANGEWAYS in sound...and i love that sound...the last three songs are melodic heaven....can someone told me the name of female singer in Spark And Flame?....

From: espo Date: January 29, 2004 at 13:48
Vandervelde, the female singer in 'Spark And Flame' is Theresa Straley, lead vocalist of Harlow.

From: jessica96fish Date: March 2, 2004 at 20:56
over rated?i wish every cd i bought sounded this boring.its a gem.the only problem with this cd is their are only nine songs on it.but all are top notch.and for the female on this cd non other than the singer from harlow teresa strayley.

From: koogles Date: May 11, 2004 at 11:46
Mark Allen is usually as error-free as Alex Trebek on Jeopardy! BUT, this time you can take his opinion, crumple it up into a small ball and do your best Kobe Bryant impersonation using your waste basket as a basketball net. THIS CD is pure AOR perfection. Like Drive She Said with a smoother singer, or a more AOR version of Red Dawn. Big hooks, dripping wet keyboards (Airkraft-style) and vocals with more layers than a wedding cake. Plus big production. What else could you ask for?

From: AOR freaky Date: May 12, 2004 at 4:09
I repeat it :very, very fine and great AOR ! A must have !

From: TIM (2) Date: May 12, 2004 at 10:08
I LOVE my AOR, but I agree with Mark Allen. This is just DULL. 'Same Song' and 'Where Are You Now' are decent enough, but this is nowhere near as good as some of the comparitors mentioned above. Red Dawn and Airkraft were classics and they know how to write a catchy and memorable chorus, something missing from most the tracks on here. I will keep my copy though, if only for the hilarious band picture on the back cover! Oh dear..

From: Date: June 6, 2004 at 10:41
ONE OF THE BEST AOR ALBUMS I HAVE EVER HEARD.A FOREVER GOLDEN CLASSIC.BUY IT AT ANY COST.

From: BRM Date: June 30, 2004 at 14:07
Definately a must have great songs, great production worth it for Spark And Flame Alone!!! Not that it needs Remastering but it would be a good idea!!! 9/10

From: jessica96fish Date: July 2, 2004 at 13:06
once again.this is one of the best melodic rock gems ever.ignor at your cost!!!!!!!!!

From: AOR_Crazy Date: August 11, 2004 at 5:56
Mr. Allen is a proof what i am saying everyone, that this music is not for all. Mr.Allen as i told one 'true conossieur' of AOR on Nelson review of first album, if you don't like AOR, don't come here! This is a true gem of AOR/melodic metal!

From: AOR freaky Date: August 11, 2004 at 6:25
AOR_Crazy : Right you are mate ! This is very, very good AOR stuff ! All those not agreeing with that, have indeed no clue at all about real, pure AOR ! But if I see to Mr. Hughes to don't come here on this site with his Linkin Park stuff, people like Maja, Jez and Blue Charvel are attacking me as they know it all. You're more lucky, they let you live in peace, AOR_Crazy ! But our nicknames say it all, we LOVE real, pure AOR ! Most of the others here don't (hé Tim(2)) !

Same Song, the best song, (Portugal)

From: JD Kelly Date: September 28, 2004 at 18:04
Dudes - WOW! A buddy of mine told me about this site - and about the record being so heavily discussed. I'm completely blown away by all of the good (and even the not-so-good - hey, it's a mostly free world) things being said. We had a lot of fun making the record, and the fellows and I always talk about doing it again. It's been a long time, but maybe we can step out of the real world for a while and have a go. Anyway - THANKS! I feel a whole lot younger than when I sat down here this evening!

From: jessica96fish Date: October 5, 2004 at 4:11

A MASTER PIECE OF AOR !!! SIMPLY TOP CLASS ALBUM 9/10

From: Swriter Date: February 12, 2005 at 22:44
I have had a copy of this for a long time and recently listened a few times, very good aor type songs and good band, not sure if it is worth all the hype, but very good one to have. Where is this band from and why no promotion??? Standouts for me are Same Song, Tears, and Where, not sure about the cover of Go all the way!!!

From: z4roxx Date: February 12, 2005 at 23:14
Indeed one of my fave english band. One of the best voice as ever IMO,full of deep expression and true emotion, perfect and clean production with MANY killer tunes and arrangements in the same vein as Strangeways or Walk on fire.Songs as'same song','over your head'are amazing, the immense ballad'take my heart',personally one of the best ballad ever heard and the last'where are you now'that can blow you away for a long time...From the Fire are over the top with also one of my fave band name..9,9/10!

From: 9 CHAMPIONS A 1 Date: February 20, 2005 at 6:35
On','Same Song','Take My Heart','Spark And Flame'...RECOMENDADISIMO.

From: The Dolphin Date: February 26, 2005 at 4:18
Spark and flame sounds like Bon Jovi in the 80s!!!It's a beautiful song!Where are you now is a great power ballad!Concordo con z4roxx,il cantante ha una voce incredibile!

From: Geoff Date: February 27, 2005 at 5:52
Now, where'd that David Menketti chap go in 1992? Oh, here he is! Honestly, could this guy sound anymore like the voice of Y & T??? I would not call this sensational, but I would call it extremely consistent and of very high class. Not a weak moment to be found, and although I would have loved just one or two absolute killer tracks, there is enough solid melodic rock to keep me happy here... and I like the guy's voice too.

From: Swriter Date: March 25, 2005 at 13:14
well, Iam coming back to this one, this one I had a while, never did much, pulled it out recently, and wowowowow, this is a good one, very cool aor/rock with cool keys, and at times, a sax. This one hits me now, so when is the remaster for this one coming??? Great songs include Where, Take, Same, Tears, Hold On, one of my recent favs!!!

From: VEGASMETAL Date: March 25, 2005 at 15:05
Whoever left that first comment should be tarred and feathered and then flogged with no remorse. This is a fantastic slice of PURE AOR / Melodic Rock. Bands like this are why HH exists - If you do not like AOR why do you bother coming here??? ESSENTIAL AT ANY COST!

From: Rafo Phoenix Date: April 7, 2005 at 23:12
Hey Boys this is a Good AOR album, despues del Voodoo X este es el que mas me gusta con la influencia de Jean, grandes temas como Same Song(a diferencia del 86 aca lo DESTROZA, un temazo unico y DEMOLEDOR, ni bien lo escuchas te dan unas ganas de mover el cuerpo YEAH!!!), Hold On, Spark and Flame, Love Struck tremendos cortes de AOR, por ahi 2 cortes que no dan talla pero en si un buen disco. asi que no me bajen la puntuacion de este buen album. una buena adquisicion a tu coleccion

From: George Angel Date: April 12, 2005 at 9:12
This is an old time classic sample of reall AOR melodic albums. Try to listen to 'Take My Heart' and you will know exactly what I mean. Fortunately I have two original copies of this album and I feel so lucky. If you also looking for that cd or similar I may help you to find them please contact wildangelfree69@hotmail.com !!!

Hello, all - Just thought I'd check in again. It's really cool to see all of you still digging the record after all these years. I've recently been in touch woth Tommy and Mike, and it looks like we'll be getting together again for a round of writing. If we like what we come out with, we're talking about doing a little recording. Let's see what happens next - not too easy when we're separated by 3,000 miles. Keep a good thought for us... and thanks again!

From: Swriter Date: April 21, 2005 at 17:46

Hey Joe, I don't know about you but I just had an orgasm reading this. I say we have a BBQ in my backyard this summer and invite all these fine people.

From: Petra Date: April 22, 2005 at 12:09
I love this album...the guitar is awesome and just realized it's Tommy Lafferty from all the Jean Beauvoir albums. He actually wrote the song 'Same Somg' and it is my favorite. The melody, the words pierce right thru my heart. Just incredible classic rock music and very talented musicians. There is too much crap out there but this stuff is 100lassic.

From: Connaisseur Date: April 22, 2005 at 14:51
Agree, this is a jewel, from start to finish - no fillers, all killers!

From: Mike Sciotto Date: April 22, 2005 at 20:21
WOW! So nice to hear so many people liking this record. I too love this one, not because I played on it but of all the great songs and great times I had recording it. I've recorded many cds since with many bands and you just don't get any better than Joe's singing or Tommy's guitar playing.(great guys as well)hopefully we'll do a second one soon. The first one is to damn expensive to buy! LOL Well... Thank you all for the compliments... great incentive for a second one. Hope it'll be soon!!! :-)

From: Swriter Date: April 22, 2005 at 20:35
why no names listed here!!!! Mike, thanks for the music and release this one again soon!!!!!! hahahaha

From: Michael Sciotto Date: April 23, 2005 at 12:47
Don't know why there's no names but here they are: J.D. Kelly Lead Vocals, Tommy Lafferty Guitar background vocals, Michael Sciotto Drums and background vocals, Nadine Arel Keyboards, Paul St.James Bass guitar. Later replacing Nadine with Paul Morris on Keyboards and Paul St.James with Thaddeus Castanis on Bass. Jimmy Z on Saxophone (on tears cried in the rain)Theresa Straley Lead Vocal (Spark and Flame)Engineered by Pat Regan who also played some keyboards on Hold On. Produced by Jean Beauvoir.

From: Darren Dewis Date: April 23, 2005 at 19:12
Man it's great to see so many POSITIVE remarks about this cd. I agree that this cd is a CLASSIC with great songwriting. JD has an awesome voice, and it's a shame that this band didn't kick on. Had the opportunity to meet the awesome Tommy Lafferty in OCT last year, and he was a legend.Never forget it. Another album would be awesome. Tommy has stayed in the spotlight with CROWN OF THORNS (ABSOLUTELY UNDERRATED),with a new cd sometime soon.(i hope). Great resume 4 Tommy - Voodoo X, FTF & CofT!!!

From: Alex2005 Date: April 30, 2005 at 3:15
Masterpiece ! The Songs touch me since it came out. A must have for every Melodic Fan !!

From: Axe Machine Date: May 12, 2005 at 7:42
A gem amongst the dirt in your local second hand store. One of the finest examples of pure AOR that I have ever witnessed. Guitars, vocals and keyboards shine through a tightly produced rhythm section, and the songs are so killer it's a crime. A must buy for any serious AOR fan. Comparisons to a lighter Red Dawn, Valentine or a smoother Drive She Said are deadly accurate - make no mistake, this is a classic of the genre. 10/10

From: SCANDI Date: July 9, 2005 at 14:55
So much said.. now it's my turn: This is the right mixture between MelodicRock & AOR I like. My favourite songs here are 'Same song' (TOP!), the superb ballad 'Take my heart', 'Go all the way' & 'Hold on' (just a little behind the others). However, the rest is not bad as well. From me they deserve a 8,9/10

From: swriter Date: July 26, 2005 at 18:56
ok, here is one we need to get re-released as well!!!! maybe as a group we can do this, how we start to get a new re-release??? lets go!!!

From: AOR freaky Date: July 27, 2005 at 5:08

From: lduarte Date: February 22, 2006 at 17:44
This is without any shadow of a doubt brilliant music , Aor or whatever you want to call it .Not a bad tune here , and i dont say this often .I would put it up there with Boulevard , they sound like skagarack meets a sfter red dawn . If anyone wishes to trade opinions email me at luis73@netcabo.pt

From: juan carlos Date: April 26, 2006 at 15:11

From: georgeangel Date: November 12, 2006 at 22:27

This is one of the best albums that I ever heard before, and I say it again: it´s a masterpiece or is on its way to being at least for my taste, comparision???? well to Atlantic, FM, Strangeways, Passion Street, Voodoo X (at least the melodic section), etc. A medicine for those real AOR fans 9.4/10

Hi Everyone! I was so surprised to find this site! Thanks to everyone for the comments! We had a great time making this album. Things happened, but I really do miss the guys...just to set the record straight, to see who actually played on the album, it's listed on the same page as the lyrics along with who wrote the song. I actually started the band, and Michael played on the original demos. The two guys listed as keyboards(Paul) and bass(Thaddeus) weren't even in the band at the time of the recording. That being said, I wouldn't have given away so many copies if I knew what they'd be worth today..hahaha thanks again

Wouldn't quite give this the 'Classic' status, but it is a very good, consistent AOR album. Jean Beauvoir is all over this, so if you are familiar with his solo or Crown Of Thorns work, this should be pretty easy to get into. I must say that I think JB's solo version of 'Same Song Plays On And On' from his 'Drums Across The Mohawk' album kills the version on here, but the rest of the songs are pretty damned good. Nice to see Harlow's Theresa Straley lending her awesome voice to 'Spark To The Flame' aswell, which is one of the album highlights. So all in all, this is a very nice re-issue from the YesteRock guys, who seem to be going from strength to strength.

Wow....the thoughts on this one are more complex and diverse than politics or the 'GLOBAL WARMING' debate!!! To me, this is one of the all time classic melodic rock / AOR releases. Co-produced by Jean Beauvoir(Crown of Thorns), don't even think of conjuring an opinion of this great CD by the awful looking album cover!!! 'Thirty Days...' is one of the most exciting albums of the nineties without one weak song and full of beautiful melodies. Filled with explosive keyboards and a sizzlingly-clean melodic hard rock sound, you'll hear catchy songs and layered backing vocals that remind me of BONJOVI from the 80's, TOUCH, RED DAWN and DRIVE SHE SAID.....

From: rick kerch vzla Date: February 9, 2010 at 13:49
Sorry guys but i found this album quite simple but not bad (Do not misunderstand my opinion about this album),i mean, tracks 1,3,7,8 & 9 are ok but the album seems to be more orientated to easy listeners rather than the real AOR fans at heart/they labeled as AOR in here/... (the tracks i mentioned are very acceptables in fact they offered us a good moment while listening but nothing that will keep us awake all nite about greatness here)...maybe my comment sounds hard, undoubtebly the band has something to offer but this one needed more spark..anyway if you enjoyed as i did somehow, buy it.82/100

The guy on the far left looks like a Boy George wanna-be, UhhhhhhhU However, the album is around the best AOR Cds of the decade.

From: glam_junkie Date: August 16, 2013 at 4:38
not sure what to expect with the plain cover but this was great! i'm not an aor fanatic but this kept me interested from start to finish. some great catchy, anthem infused tunes.

From: edwithmj Date: January 16, 2014 at 19:27
This is a well-produced, smooth AOR obscurity. Of note is Tommy Lafferty of Voodoo X and latter-day Crown of Thorns. All the band members shine in this one and while there is a bit of filler, the good songs from this are stand-out AOR tracks. My favourites are Hold On, Tears Cried in the Rain (nice sax solo), Love Struck and Spark and Flame.

From: 123charpenay Date: January 17, 2014 at 11:19
Never find this masterpiece in japan import.the rare times i ve bid on this record in jap issue the price are absoluty crazy.impossible to buy this album under 100 euro.i ve the same problem with the first dare ,the first roko.the first blue tears ,the first heartland ect ect....that s life.

Just downloaded the bands latest release 'Evil Men Do' and although a very good release in it's own right it unfortunately fails to reach the heights of this debut album, which realistically was always going to be an extremely difficult task anyway. Some really cool moments though with the likes of In Your Dreams, Leave Me Alone and Stagefright (which i have had in demo form for many years), lovely ballad Into Your Heart, and the rather excellent AOR of Never Be Lonely. Joe Kelly's vocals are still unbelievably good 22 years on. If you like From The Fire its Worth getting hold of guys.

Great AOR/Melorock which reminds me a bit of Tyketto. Very powerful, energetic and melodic. Great keyboard, vocal and guitar sound. The drums sound a bit electronic. Were they recorded using a electronic drumkit?
