And excellent intro to the magic of the Allmans...featuring the greatest guitar duo of all time: Duane Allman and Dickey Betts. |

Southern Rock is not my favorite genre but You lose a beautiful Style if you do not like Southern Rock. The Allman Brothers Band and Lynyrd Skynyrd are the biggest Southern Rock Bands of all times for me and this album is simply great. "Melissa"(My God What a Beautiful ballad!!) "Blue Sky" "Little Martha"(Instrumental) "Jessica" "Ramblin' Man" "Southbound" "Statesboro Blues" "In Memory of Elizabeth Reed"(āla Santana) are amongst my Favorites. I can hear styles like Jazz and Country on this compilation.. So itīs very nice to see Southern Rock on this page. 8.8/10 |

The Allman Brothers Band are essential southern rock and I enjoy listening to every one of their songs. Excellent dual guitar playing coupled with southern rock and blues type songs with a good dose of instrumental tracks thrown in. When I first listened to them I didn't like them as I wasn't accustommed to this type of music but everything's here: brilliant instrumental expertise, great solos, rocking vocals and melodic ballads. These guys are considered pioneers of the southern rock genre for good reason. 90/100 |
