This band is close to perfeccion in the sleaze glam genre! Flaunt It!: what a song!

From: hardrockhaven Date: August 18, 2001 at 20:37
These guys do deserve a lot of praise. It's such a shame they didn't make a bigger name for themselves. They blow away most of the bigger glam metal acts of the day.

From: Chip Date: January 15, 2002 at 8:27
For those interested we are still playing shows. We have a new CD available. For info contact Syre_98@hotmail.com

If you are interested in seeing Syre LIVE they are playing at the BREAKBALL in Milton Ont. Feb 9 2002 If you are a real die hard you'll be there!!!!!!!! Great Bar, Great Band for a Great Time.

From: Chip Date: January 16, 2002 at 12:29
Just a revision to the last posting the bar is called The Hardball. thanks!

From: koogles Date: January 17, 2002 at 6:25
A lot of bun here, and not much burger. Still, tracks like "You Never Looked Back", "In Your Eyes" and "Never Said Goodbye" proved that Syre could cut a deadly AOR tune when they wanted to. Unfortunately, there's too much horsing around Warrant-style. A decent band with hometown ties. (I believe the lead singer now works at London Life.)

From: JOANNE Date: January 22, 2002 at 8:25
I really miss 80's Rock. It was the best music!!! I'm glad to hear there are still bars out there that still have bands from the 80's. Hi to you all.

to: koogles Be nice now SYRE is a kick ass band and if you knew them you would not feel that way I met them so I know ,for me personally they are one great bunch of guys and I mean that from the heart. We are not supposed to judge people.

From: jason (FA - Q) Date: June 28, 2002 at 23:44
Donna, Isn't Halifax in Daytona, Florida?

From: koogles Date: June 30, 2002 at 16:52
Donna: how does meeting a band change the way I feel about their music? I don't doubt for a second that Syre are super nice guys, but it doesn't (and will never) change the fact that this album, back in the day, blended in better than it stood out, IMO. I did say that 3 of the tracks were "deadly AOR" did I not?

From: donna Date: July 15, 2002 at 7:51
Sorry koogles I stand corrected when I first read your comment it seemed like you were running the guys down and I jumped to conclusions to quickly .Sorry

From: donna Date: July 15, 2002 at 7:54
Hi jason, no Halifax is in nova scotia Canada. Are you from the U.S?

From: jason (FA - Q) Date: July 15, 2002 at 17:47
I know that there is a Halifax Hospital just outside of Daytona, Florida. That is why I asked. I don't know if that is the name of a town in Florida or if it is just the name of the hospital, that's all........

From: jason (FA - Q) Date: July 15, 2002 at 17:55
One other thing, Donna. Does Canada own Switzerland?...... If you look on the Krokus/Headhunter page of this website you will know what I am talking about.

From: koogles Date: October 22, 2002 at 10:58
These guys did a second CD you know with co-writes from the guy from Wall of Silence. It's worth checking out. It's simply called "Syre" but the guys in the band affectionately refer to it as "Pissed to the Gills". haha. Gotta see the cover to get the joke.

From: WidoMakr Date: October 24, 2002 at 21:18
Just got a copy of this in a bargain basement....Not bad at all...if this thing doesnt have 80's sound written all over it what does....good sounding rock/pop metal....Quote the WidoMakr....never more

From: meow Date: November 14, 2002 at 9:35
I remember partying with these guys in the 80's. The drummer was hot!!! My friend and I had a wicked night with Jamie, we thought drummers were best known for their hands, he had the best tongue! We were way too impressed at how long he lasted with the two of us, (remember the two blondes with big tits, and pierced nipples!!??) Anyway we would love to do it again, where are you playing now! They say the second time around is better than the first. Do you still have a tongue that satisfies!!??

From: George Date: November 14, 2002 at 10:16
Hey all whats up? I was the bands lightman just wanna say hi to everyone we partied with . You guys made us have great times when we came to your town .

Hey syre 13 years later and still miss seeing my favorite bar band in winnipeg.. Would love to see you tour through here again and do a great cover of seek and destroy with your soundman.

From: Scandinavia Date: June 8, 2003 at 21:07
Where can I get hold of the new album?? Found this one on CD and I thought: WOW! Why haven't I heard of this band before? Koogles is right...It's a bit Warrant sounding but still the true glam roots are very present on this album. I think there is more "partyrock" to SYRE than to Warrant...Flaunt It should have been a major hit! It's an instant classic! Rock On!!!

From: Gavin Date: October 29, 2003 at 21:15
Great Band! Great Songs! Great Live show! Should have been huge...what gives?

Hi Scott, thanks for spinning our tunes on your radio show! Hope all's well in the Sault! Thanks and hi to everyone posting here. Cheers

From: Geoff Date: September 20, 2004 at 18:48
The album title is awesome, I like song titles like 'Say Hi to my Girlfriend', and there are some cool track like the commercial gem that is 'You Never Looked Back', the cool groove of 'Summertime', the pretty decent 'The Way You're Lookin' Tonight' and I forget it off the top of my head but I think I recall 'Never Said Goodbye'... but the album belongs to the killer melodic gem, 'In Your Eyes'. Worth it alone. A lot of fillers on this CD, but it's good stuff.

From: Kenda Date: January 5, 2005 at 11:03
Hi,I used to work at the Crazy Horse in Dartmouth, Nova Scotia. I always looked forward to seeing you guys. (Especially Chris). Not much happening in Dartmouth's little corner of the rock world. If Chip or Doug read this tell Chris I was asking about him..Kenda

This is total 80's party rock. Koogles is right though. Is does seem to blend in the sea of this genre. It has some good tracks, but nothing jumps out at me. I'm not saying it's bad. I do like it but it just didn't stand out compared to some of the other bands fighting their way to a record deal.

From: aMetalhead1966 Date: January 18, 2006 at 13:58
This would have been better with a different producer,as it is,it sounds like a Warrant wannabee.....

From: Chip Date: January 18, 2006 at 20:23
Still amazed at how many people rememeber us. Thanks for all of the comments ...good and bad. By the way I am recording a solo CD set for release in early 2006. Check out details at www.thechipgallband.com CYA!

OMG, I can't believe I found this band! I remember 'Say Hi To My Girlfriend' had some play on HTZ in St. Catharines in the early 90s, but after that I never heard another thing from them...OFF TO SEARCH SOMEWHERE ONLINE FOR THE CD!!!!! Whooohooooo!!!!!!!!!

From: Leykis101 Date: March 9, 2012 at 11:55
I bought this CD back when I was in 8th grade and I would hear the song Flaunt It on the radio hear in Utah, it seemed like I ordered it the day after I heard it from a local record shop, and it took them something like 4 months to finally get the actual cd to the store, I couldnt believe it took that long to get a disc, that at the time was a new release, and not really a totally incompetant record label, i still never understood it, but cd is filled with lead off track Flaunt It, You Never Said Goodbye, Summertime, and the song that exposes Syre as more then just an untalented flash in the pan hair band, In Your Eyes, cant figure out why radio played Flaunt It, and Not In Your Eyes, that song shows Syre has the ability, and talent to write and perform a solid, credible, Melodic/AOR track, and that song is worth getting the disc in itself, pick it up if you can find it.

From: rick kerch vzla Date: July 1, 2012 at 20:47
Great Canadian band!!!..how the hell didn't they hit the big time???!!! ...anyway,plenty of catchy glammy songs plus a couple of AORish ones in the shape of "Never Said Goodbye" & "In Your Eyes" that happen to be my fave ones!!! ...tracks 1,2,4 & 7 are also goodie ones...good songs, good vocalist, good visual...what went wrong???...89/100
