Often rated as a classic but it never got me moving...Hmmm...Guess I was more into the pop orientated stuff later on..."American Metal" is an anthem tho'....

From: Fog-hat Date: October 17, 2003 at 10:25
This is not a "pop" or even a "hard rock" album, this is pure 80's heavy metal. When I first heard it I thought it sucked! Well my music taste has changed and i'm a big fan of Heavy Metal now. I have grown to love this album. It's just pure headbanging metal. Fans of "Savage Grace", "Griffin" and "Abattoir" should like this. Best songs: Rod of iron and psychopath.

This is a classic,a great addition to any metal collection.By far superior to the 'Menace record .

THIS IS PURE METAL!!!!! YES LADIES AND GENTELMEN',NOW IF YOU'RE A bon jovi ,OR pOISON FAN DON'T BUY THIS BUT IF YOU'RE ON THE ACCEPT,MAIDEN,SAVATAGE side get it now!!!!!!

From: AOR freaky Date: January 8, 2004 at 10:39
Classic ? Pure Metal ? None of these ! Rather average metal with glam influences. There is better stuff out !

Absolutely pure 80's metal. Doesn't get any more so IMHO. Lotta great cuts on here, always liked "Rod of Iron", reminds me of my manhood, but then I guess they'd have to call it "Mighty Big Rod of Iron"... Seriously though, I do like that one and American Metal is indeed an anthem as Scandinavia mentioned...

Look, any POISON fan can buy this album too. Its just a great melodic heavy metal record that many POISON and PRETTY BOY FLOYD fans also love. I listen to POISON but also to heavier stuff like old SODOM, KREATOR, VENOM, BATHORY, HELLHAMMER, CELTIC FROST, IRON ANGEL but also to WHITE METAL, 80S SPEED METAL....HARD ROCK, AOR...everything under the flag of METAL/HARD ROCK of course only from the 80s or with a 80s feeling to the music. THIS IS JUST A GREAT ALBUM FOR ANYBODY INTO METAL from the 80s.

Ripping Guitars!--Screaming Vocals! "Council For The Cauldrun","Rod Of Iron","American Metal","Save Me","Flesheater"(one of the best metal songs ever recorded) etc. This album is True Metal--100% Proof. Sorry,Menace'(great record) and the others cannot touch this one. Lizzy' should be regarded as "American Heavy Metal Royalty" alongside the masters like Ronnie James Dio .

From: red Date: February 17, 2004 at 0:18
Really good first lp, the songwriting is definitely stronger than on the first ep. My favorite tracks are Red Rum, Warfare and Rod of iron.

From: TomStavely Date: May 14, 2006 at 18:30
Really Menace to society was far better this one a little weak Over rated should never be in the top 25 thats a joke 6/10

From: hrmx Date: April 3, 2008 at 12:07
An absolutte classicK, yes maybe Meneace to Society or even better Visual Lies are better musically speaking, but LYTP has that vibe that just a few records can have. True classicks in here specially "Psychopath" Council for the Caldron and specially the ultra catchy Save Me. not to mention the cover photo that made some of my teen dreams back in 84

From: pie75 Date: August 2, 2010 at 2:59
whoah metal t i love lizzy borden great singer and very underrated but to say he should be alongside the great ronnie james dio is just plain silly i'm sure i speak for the majority on this site when i say that but this is a great album i actually got this dirt cheap from a pawnbroker with the 4 songs from give em the axe ep not a bad song here council for the cauldron, phsycopath, save me,love you to peices, american metal and flesh eater are the best here

From: rick kerch vzla Date: June 19, 2011 at 14:54
Classic metal stuff by this legendary act...they should have been huge at this point but somehow has always remained "underground" even up 2 these days...about this release it brings great songs in the vein that has characterized them...best shots 4 me are "Save Me","Red Rum","American Metal","Flesheater" & "Godiva"....recommended...88/100

From: hair metal again Date: November 24, 2011 at 2:39
