a great debut, from one of the best bands yo never heard of,,5*****

From: gooup Date: July 31, 2001 at 17:00
PURE MAGIC...period.

From: T-BONE Date: August 10, 2001 at 15:46
One of the best bands ever to rock the face of the earth. My Alltime Favorite. Anything with their name on it is good music. There isn't a songwriter out there that can touch Stevie Blaze. Musically or lyrically.

From: Frank Date: November 7, 2001 at 19:48
Produced by Robbin Crosby of Ratt, how could they go wrong? This CD kicks serious ass... Simply didn't get enough help from their label or airplay on MTV as they hit a little too late in the 80's. Love + War is great too, but doesn't touch their freshman effort!

From: Dragonfly Date: December 14, 2001 at 19:17
One rocks best melodic rock bands. One of a kind writing and playing. They have a unique sound from their first release to their last. A great band.

From: ted Date: July 26, 2002 at 11:00

From: jiffi enemy Date: September 3, 2002 at 23:07
robbin'king' crosby produced this and it is great!! i just dont care about the keyboards. STEVIE BLAZE SHOULD HAVE BEEN ALL OVER THIS

From: B. CASARIN -MEX Date: September 4, 2002 at 0:29

From: RichieRocker Date: September 11, 2002 at 12:37
Can someone help me on information on this band!! Who do they sound like? What popular frontman does the vocalist sound like? thanks

From: Reno Date: September 11, 2002 at 18:29
All I can say RichieRocker is get it if you can find it, but you'll surely pay for it. I got mine for $44 off ebay. Love and War goes for a little more. Ron Taylor has a very distinct voice and the band itself is also very distinctive in their sound. It's hard to compare them to anyone. Just take the advice and go get them both....in fact...get them all

From: Reno Date: September 11, 2002 at 18:39
Two of the websites for Lillian Axe are www.lillianaxecentral.com and www.lillianaxe.com. If you want a free mp3 sample of one of their songs, go to this link and check out the song Do It. It's not one of their best, but if you like that song, you'll love the rest. http://www.nehrecords.com/MP3/MP3.html This tune is more on the hard side of Lillian Axe. They're an awesome Melodic band as well.

From: RichieRocker Date: September 11, 2002 at 21:31
Cool!!! Thanks for the info Reno!

From: manos Date: December 30, 2002 at 0:08
I was always wondering in my life why bands like Pink Floyd or the Rolling Stones became so huge and bands like Lillian Axe never came out of the surface. It is one of these questions you will never get an answer. Superb debut, but that was just the beginning!

From: ROB GARCIA Date: January 19, 2003 at 11:48
this is a very impressive album and the follow up its even better.great songs & musicianship.hard to find but worth the search.

From: Scandinavia Date: June 27, 2003 at 17:56
Damn good debut!!! Inside out rocks!

From: Gar Date: August 2, 2003 at 12:16
Great debut. Their next two albums were even better, but I can whole heartedly recommend all the band's releases.

From: vandervelde Date: September 24, 2003 at 18:28
This is really great band and also great album. I consider this as one of the best debuts of all time. Great melodies, great vocals from first listen you remember all songs and this is rather exceptional. This is 40 minutes of melodic heaven!!!

From: Dean Date: December 29, 2003 at 16:08
What the hell? A kickass album that nobody felt like ripping to shreds? Had this on vinyl and played the hell out of it? If i really had to compare these guys to somebody I'd have to say take the best parts of Keel and the best parts of Dokken-shove them into a blender and you'd have(well besides a bloody mess) this band that totally kicks ass. Lillian Axe didn't have a killer lead like Lynch but the two guitarists in this band always played killer harmonies that meshed extremely well together.

From: Daniel Date: February 28, 2004 at 20:18

Hi there. I've heard that the Japonese edition brings a bonus cd called Stiff - Straight Up. I think that it is an EP of Lillian Ane by the name of Stiff. Anyone Knows if it's true, because i can't find it here.

From: T-Bone Date: April 14, 2004 at 13:09
Stiff was The bands name in Ohio before they merged in with Lillian Axe who were out of the south. There is a few Demo cd's of Stiff floating around out there, but as far as I know, there was never an official release.

From: gener8tr Date: May 20, 2004 at 13:42
The 'so-called' Japanese issue with the bonus Stiff demo tracks is actually a European bootleg. The Stiff demos are no better than those that have been floating around the net for years. In fact, the thief who made the CD didn't even both to clean up the needle hiss from the original LP transfer. What a complete joke! DO NOT buy this release. Purchase the original MCA release, instead. At least the band was compensated for their efforts, and not cheated out of their just due!

From: TheRipper Date: May 20, 2004 at 16:54
Gener8tr, Im afraid you fell victim to a bad seller. I know of the European boot version of this, whith the Stiff songs, BUT there is also a legitimate Japanese version that is the real thing, and was made in 1992. The Lillian Axe stuff has been getting booted for about a year now, or a little more. It's the same story for 'Love & War', some European label started crankin them out, so a lot of them are boots mixed in now, and drove the price down as casual buyers assume they have the real thing.

From: Big Papa K Date: June 13, 2004 at 2:39
Lillian Axe probably were the best late 80's hair band to not make it. The debut only give a glmipse of what was too come, but contains great tunes such as 'Dream Of A Lifetime'. 7/10

From: wadelink Date: July 18, 2004 at 15:41
robin crosby produced this. i think money had to have been really tight

From: Kip Date: August 29, 2004 at 3:27
Best band ever. Most underrated band ever. May share that title with Pink Cream 69 if PC69 releases one more good album. Classic in every sense. EVERY song Lillian Axe ever made was worth listening to. This album is no exception. Not their best, but still essential. 8.5/10

From: Geoff Date: August 29, 2004 at 21:35
This is killer 80's hard rock. Also a personal fave of mine, Lillian Axe, this is a great album to start the collection off with. Some of the simpler writing of their career, they still manage to pull it off excellently. I've always loved the ballad, 'Nobody knows'.

From: LONGLIVE Date: September 16, 2004 at 8:30
LONGLIVE

From: onemorecast Date: November 11, 2004 at 23:07
These guys always managed to have at least one decent single per album. Just a B band (hurricane, black&blue, etc.) that's why they never hit it big.

From: keeper Date: November 30, 2004 at 5:32
Bad vocals , some average songs, some bad, poor production... 4/10

From: JE$$IE R. Date: January 12, 2005 at 0:06
RON TAYLOR AND STEVIE BLAZE, WAT A COMBO! PROBABLY THE MOST UNDERATED BAND OF ALL TIME, ALONG WITH HAREM SCAREM. U GUYS WANNA HEAR SOME OF THE BEST MUSIC U EVER HEARD IN YOUR LIFE? THEN CHECK OUT LILLIAN AXE. THEY ARE IN A LEAGUE OF THEIR OWN.

From: Rafo Phoenix Date: April 26, 2005 at 23:55

From: Rafo Phoenix Date: May 17, 2005 at 0:54

From: Rafo Phoenix Date: May 31, 2005 at 21:59

From: xfiend Date: November 14, 2005 at 20:03
I'm telling you this band is WAY underrated. Excellent combination of melody, songwriting, vocals and guitar. If they had come out 3 years before ,they would have been contenders with Ratt and Motley Crue.

From: mauricio Date: December 27, 2005 at 16:56

From: mauricio Date: December 27, 2005 at 16:58

From: mauricio Date: December 27, 2005 at 16:59

Lillian Axe! Now were cooking. One of my favorite bands! These guys should have been huge! They could do it all, sing, play. Just a GREAT overlooked band in my opinion. Do yourself a favour and get this one and ALL of the Lillian Axe albums. You won't be disapointed! As stated above as good (if not better) than Ratt, Crue, and Dokken.

From: Rambo Rockerman Date: January 20, 2008 at 12:39
This is a killer debut, you need to get this.

From: metalmaniac777 Date: February 2, 2011 at 9:00
You have to wonder if even Almighty God Himself knows why Lillian Axe didn't strike it big. Terrific guitar work, an awesome vocalist, great songs, and yet they wallowed in obscurity while other less interesting and far less talented groups somehow chopped their way to the upper ranks of the late 80s hard rock scene. This is just an all around fantastic debut, and I would rather stick hot needles through my liver than part with this CD. An A+ effort all the way.

From: edwithmj Date: September 15, 2011 at 11:33
One of my favourite debuts. I struggle to find a bad song on this but my favourites are Dream of a Lifetime (a song I can hear again and again), Inside Out which is nice and heavy, Vision in the Night which has a slight medieval feel to it I think, The More That You Get (great lyrics) and Hard Luck. I was only curious about this disc but was very happy once I got it.

From: Mindcrime Date: December 10, 2016 at 1:22
Just listening to my vinyl of this killer debut album. I really wish it had opened with Misery; has opener written all over it with the killer riff. This is an album you can never get bored of listening to! They should have been a lot bigger than they ended up being.

From: Doug Date: December 12, 2016 at 18:39
Agree, "Mindcrime," but with no Ron Taylor on vocals, these guys fell fast.

From: dany69 Date: April 10, 2019 at 16:00
