I kinda have a soft spot for Billy Squier and I don't think he's really done a bad album. I think that he just fell out of favour with the press or whatever and maybe some albums weren't quite up to Don't Say No standard so he got slated for them. Anyway, this album sees him rockin a bit more and also experimenting with his sound somewhat. I would recommend it and if you are a Squier fan it's pretty essential. In fact I'm going downstairs right now to play it!! Don't try and stop me!!!!! |

Disagree, I think this is basically shit. There are a few catchy bits on a few tracks but there isn't a great full track to found anywhere. I thought "hear and now" was much better than this. |

Up to this cd, Squier was one of the best good-time rockers of the 80's. And though this came out in 1993, this is Squier's first bad cd. Nothing here even remotely reminds me of anything previously that he did. Moreover, there isn't even any hint of a killer rocker or steamy ballad that always graced his previous releases. For completists only. |

I agree with Nick Clarkson's comment...for me this album rocks pretty good!!! ...a very interesting release that brings Squier's songs to a more rocking side but adding a good dosage of melody..this is not an straight AOR album but the melody it has delivers the "AOR moments" in here..."Angry" an excellent opening song,"Tryin' To Walk A Straight Line" strongly reminds me of The Knack's song "My Sharona" ,"Hercules" cool rocking song with an AORish feel in the chorus line,"Stranger To Myself" is my personal fave,"The Girl's All Right" & "Not A Color" are both songs & "Shocked Straight" ends the album in an effective way...get it!.95/100 |
